Dave Hughes has shared a rant on social media, criticising Australian politicians for flying in business class, as ordinary Aussies continue to battle rising costs.

The comedian was flying from Sydney to Melbourne for a game of footy in economy class as he doesn’t like to “waste money”, when he spotted the trio of politicians in business class.

“I walked past three politicians in business class,” the 55-year-old said.

“They don’t care about wasting money.”

“Many hard workers on this flight. Some of ‘em on the edge of solvency,” Hughes wrote in the video.

“They fly economy and walk past all the politicians sitting in business class as the national debt hits a trillion and taxes are raised again. This isn’t going to end well.”

He continued his criticism in the captions, explaining the reasoning behind his rant.

“Aus Govt just decided to take even more, via capital gains tax (highest in world), from hard working small business people, who do the gruelling hours, and take the stressful risks, but there won’t be many capital gains, cos the Australian economy will now complete its nosedive, as the incentive to build businesses is extinguished,” he wrote.

“And the clueless politicians sit there in business class, sipping champagne, while their myriad of assistants type up speeches about ‘fairness’.”

Many agreed with him, with one commenter writing: “100% accurate”, others shared similar views from “absolutely right” to “Good on you Dave – I agree”.

One commenter wrote: “Hughesy, I never knew you made so much sense. I’m with you. Keep it up.”

“This content is some of your finest work! Keep going,” another added.

“I’m digging this agitating advocating brand of Hughesy,” a third commented, adding, “if this comedy thing doesn’t work out for you, you’d make a great political commentator.”

Earlier in the week, the comedian shared his views about the NDIS and illegal tobacco crisis, claiming that Australia has been “taken over” by “criminals” who run the NDIS like a “cash machine”.

“What the f**k are you doing? What’s the point of paying tax when you know it’s going to be stolen by criminals because governments are f**king useless,” he said.
