Shane Warne’s son, Jackson Warne, has spoken candidly about the moment he learned of his father’s sudden passing.

In an interview with The Herald Sun, the 26-year-old recalled being with his mother, Simone Callahan, and sister, Brooke, when his father’s manager called with devastating news.

Cricket hero Shane Warne died on March 4, 2022, in Ko Samui, Thailand, aged 52, following a suspected heart attack.

“Worst phone call of my life,” Jackson said.

“…It was in two separate phone calls – the first phone call was he’s had a heart attack, it was a massive heart attack and we’re trying to see what we can do.”

Jackson explained that news of his father’s condition quickly became public, and he began receiving messages from people after that first call.

“I found out at the same time as the rest of the world,” he said.

Speaking more recently on Today Extra, Jackson reflected on how he channelled his grief into focusing on his health and wellness, founding a Melbourne-based social club called Saint.

“I think he’d be really proud of me, of how healthy I’ve now become and I think he would also be proud of the things I’m doing daily as well, whether it be getting up earlier, making sure my relationships are good, always being honest, I think he’d be very proud,” he said.

Just days after Shane’s death, Jackson shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media: “To my brother, my best friend, to my Dad, I love you so much. I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart.

“…I wish I could look you in the eyes 1 more time and give you one more hug. You were truly the best father and best mate anyone could’ve asked for. I love you so much Dad, see you soon. ❤️”
