Paul Hogan is reportedly hoping to bring his son Chance back to Australia for an extended holiday after the 28-year-old was accused of domestic battery.
The Crocodile Dundee star is said to be “so relieved” after reports the charge against Chance has been dropped following a review by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, according to the New York Post.
Chance Hogan, Paul’s son with Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski, was arrested at the actor’s Venice home in May after police were called to a reported domestic disturbance.
Hogan and an unidentified woman were seen speaking with officers outside the property after Chance had allegedly left the scene.
Chance was later charged with domestic battery and had bail set at around AUD$30,000.
An insider told Woman’s Day Chance is “feeling vindicated, albeit pretty frustrated” after being forced to “jump through hoops to clear his name”.
Paul and Linda are now said to have told their son he has been given a “lucky break”, according to the insider.
“They were terrified the authorities would throw the book at him, even though they did privately agree with Chance’s argument that it was an overblown incident that came across a lot worse than it actually was,” the insider said.
“Still, the past couple of months have been torture, between helping Chance deal with the situation from a legal point of view and then having to be at the mercy of the police, who have ultimately decided to let things slide.”
The report comes after Chance previously raised concerns with a series of social media posts.
The aspiring musician has shared images of himself collapsed at gigs, performing shoeys and having his hair and chest spray-painted pink.
In 2025, he made headlines after sharing a video in which he appeared drunk and begged for someone to “kill” him.
A source previously told Woman’s Day that Linda and Paul found it “gut-wrenching” to watch their son “slide off the rails” so young and were praying he would “get a grip of himself” as he closes in on 30.
Hogan dismissed his son’s online behaviour during an interview with celebrity reporter Richard Wilkins in May last year, insisting Chance was deliberately trying to attract media attention.
The insider claimed Paul was keen to get his son out of Los Angeles and back to Australia for several months, believing the change of scenery could help him reset.
Hogan has spoken openly about wanting to return to Australia permanently, but Chance, the lead singer of punk rock band Rowdy P, is reportedly settled in Los Angeles.
“But even so, Paul and Linda are still focused on drumming it home that he needs to treat it as a wake-up call, which means he needs to change up his lifestyle and make wiser choices moving forward.”
“So for right now a compromise scenario would see them headed back [to Australia] for an extended holiday, like a few months, which isn’t out of the question as Chance has always had a blast when he’s spent time [Down Under] with his dad,” the insider told Woman’s Day.
“Paul is in the process of bigging that up to Chance as he strongly believes that it would be a game changer to get him over there for a fresh start, far away from the pitfalls of LA.”
Hogan has six children from two marriages. He shares five children, sons Brett, Clay, Scott and Todd, and daughter Lauren, with his first wife, Noelene Edwards, and one son, Chance, with Kozlowski.
