Sylvia Jeffreys has announced the launch of her own show,  Nine News Watch, eight months after being axed from the  Today  show.

The 33-year-old made an appearance via a  live cross on the  Today  show to promote her new gig, but in  what many believed to be an awkward segment, her  Today  show replacement Tim Steinfort shared the news for her instead.

“An exciting nightly news program with a very familiar face is on its way. This is  Nine News Watch  with Sylvia Jeffreys. Take us through how this is different to other news bulletins,” Steinfort said.

The former breakfast show newsreader then explained that the news show won’t be traditionally broadcast on Channel Nine, but will be aired on social media instead.

“It’s very exciting,  Nine News Watch  has arrived,” she said.

“I suppose the first and most obvious difference is that this Nine News bulletin won’t be seen on Channel Nine, it will only been seen on Facebook.

“… the future is finally here. We are very new, we are very different and dynamic. We’re using our very own state-of-the art and new technology, which allows us to be extremely mobile.”

Nine News Watch  will showcase the “latest news, lets you share stories and have your say on what matters to you”.
