The Queen has conducted her first in-person engagement after  a brief hospitalisation last month.

She hosted  outgoing armed forces chief Sir Nick Carter at Windsor Castle, who is stepping down from his coveted position at  the end of November.

The 95-year-old  monarch had missed several in-person events due to her recent health  scare, including the opening of  the COP26 Climate Conference in  Glasgow.

The  Queen spent her first night in  hospital since 2013 on October 20th for an unknown illness, and was subsequently advised to rest for two weeks.

Since her health  scare, she she undertaken lighter  royal duties, including hosting virtual audiences over video calls as her family members went in her place to high profile events.

Her Majesty was forced to cancel an appearance at a Remembrance Day service in London last week after spraining her back, which Buckingham Palace confirmed was unrelated to the health issue that had her hospitalised.

Throughout the year, she has been spotted using a walking stick for support during several public outings, but during her audience with Sir Nick Carter, seemed to be without the walking frame and standing freely.

When on a recent royal trip to Jordan, Prince Charles was asked by reporters about his mother’s health.

“She’s alright thank you very much,” he said.

“Once you get to 95, you know, it’s not quite as easy as it used to be.”
