Kyle Sandilands lashes out at Robert Irwin

Kyle Sandilands has let rip at Robert Irwin, after the young wildlife warrior was crowned Australia's Top Broadcast Talent.

In a survey conducted by Lewers Research, 7,000 Aussies were quizzed over their attitudes towards top Australian celebrities, actors, broadcasters, and others.

Irwin was named Australia's Top Broadcast Talent, beating out last year's winner, Hamish Blake, as well as Andy Lee, Dr Chris Brown, Ally Langdon and Natalie Barr, to name just a few.

The 20-year-old I'm a Celeb co-host also came out on top in the Top 10 Male Talent list.

"We were excited to see Robert Irwin top the Talent Index for the very first time. It demonstrates that he is significantly more liked than disliked by audiences nationally," Talent Corp Managing Director Mark Noakes.

"That makes him a great choice for Network 10 to cast him in the forthcoming series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!"

Clearly unhappy with Irwin's victory, Kyle Sandilands was quick to slam the decision to crown the wildlife warrior, sharing his anger with the listeners of the Kyle and Jackie O Show.

"The b**** has done nothing. It’s a sympathy vote," he said.

Sandilands, who was named the most controversial broadcaster in the survey, then poked fun at co-host Jackie O, who scored 59 out of 100 on the "likability" scale.

"You're liked? I find that hard to understand," he joked.

Despite the radio host's protests, Irwin shared how honoured he was to be named Australia's Top Broadcast Talent, taking to social media to thank his fans for always supporting him.

"Wow, it’s a real honour to officially be named Australia’s most popular broadcast personality," he said on Instagram.

"I’m here to spread important messages and a bit of positivity with the world, so this commendation means so much. I’m humbled and grateful."

Shoppers lash out at Aldi for “ridiculous” price hikes

A group of Aldi shoppers have lashed out at the supermarket chain after its series of "ridiculous" price hikes.

Aldi, which consistently ranks as Australia's cheapest major supermarket, received some criticism this week after the store's popular skinless salmon fillets was hit with a $4 price increase seemingly overnight.

“So explain to me, Aldi Australia, how do you justify a 28.5 per cent overnight increase on fresh salmon?” one outraged customer wrote on the Aldi Australia Facebook page.

“This is outrageous. Last week, it was $13.99 for four pieces, this week $17.99. Guess where it stayed? On your shelf, NOT in my trolley.”

The post triggered a wave of fury, with many threatening to abandon the German retailer and shop at competitor supermarkets.

“Everything is so expensive at Aldi now might as well shop at Coles and Woolies,” one shopper wrote.

“Well why did a can of baked beans price rise by nearly 50% and the same with small tins of tuna?? Ripping us off — not happy with the excessive price rises!! I think it my be time to shop elsewhere,” fumed a second.

“Not impressed by Aldis price increases, a big frozen box of lasagne was $8.99 now $11.99, cheese was $8.99 now $11.99, whisky $34.99 now $36.99, cooking bacon $5.99 now $6.99. I can justify a small increase, but $3 … time to look around,” commented a third.

The supermarket chain has responded to the criticism, acknowledging the price hikes, while insisting that they are committed to providing Aussies with great value products.

“Aldi’s entire business model is oriented around saving customers money to ensure that we continue to lead as Australia’s lowest-price supermarket," an Aldi spokesperson said.

"We always aim to cut unnecessary costs and pass these savings directly onto customers.

“We know that the price of essential goods has never been more important to Australians, so we remain absolutely committed to delivering the best value for our customers while also supporting our supplier partners by maintaining fair pricing at all times," they concluded.

Last month, Aldi ranked first as Australia’s favourite supermarket.

It is the only brand to rank five stars for overall satisfaction, value for money, freshness of produce, quality of private label products and availability of deals/specials, according to the Canstar Blue survey for its annual Supermarket Satisfaction Ratings.

Image: Getty

Piers Morgan lashes out at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Piers Morgan has once again lashed out at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry but this time over their Netflix doco series trailer.

The trailer for the $157 million show dropped just hours after Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in the US.

The official Netflix account shared the trailer for the show with the caption reading: “Harry & Meghan. A Netflix Global Event. Coming soon, only on Netflix.”

This has however infuriated renowned journalist Piers Morgan for being “so ghastly, so repugnant, so dripping in sanctimony and fake hammy ‘woe-is-us’ acting, that I felt my intestines physically recoil in abject disgust.”

“Imagine bleating constantly about privacy, including repeatedly suing news organisations for intrusion, and then making a kiss-and-tell reality show about your private lives?

“Or preaching endlessly about compassion, yet once again trashing your family on global television?”

The six part series will tell Harry and Meghan’s story after they left the royal family.

Harry & Meghan. Sam Newman lashes out at “woke” athletes “with low IQs”

Former AFL player Sam Newman has weighed in on a string of recent conflicts in the sporting world over million-dollar sponsorship deals, calling out “woke” athletes “with low IQs”.

He claimed the world was “being run by patronising and pompous, arrogant people”, creating a “ridiculous, woke society of nonsense”.

His comments come after the news emerged of controversies involving Netball Australia and the Fremantle Dockers.

Netball Australia, which is in desperate need of funding, is in dispute with some of its star players around a $15 million sponsorship deal with Hancock Prospecting, which is owned by mining magnate Gina Rinehart.

The deal would also see the company’s logo featured on the uniforms of Diamonds players, but opposition came from Indigenous player Donell Wallam and her teammates in relation to the company’s historical stance against Indigenous communities.

Rinehart’s father, Lang Hancock, made a series of racist comments about Indigenous people in a 1984 documentary, Couldn’t Be Fairer, including his solution to the “Aboriginal problem”.

“I would dope the water up so that they were sterile and would breed themselves out in future and that would solve the problem,” Hancock said in the film.

In the AFL world, major Fremantle Dockers supporter Woodside Energy, a natural gas exporter, has left some high-profile fans concerned.

Author Tim Winton and former WA premier Carmen Lawrence are among a group of fans urging the football club to end the agreement with the gas company.

These controversies have become fodder for Newman, who shared his opinions on both with Sky News.

The 76-year-old said he wouldn’t wear a certain sports jersey if he didn’t agree with what was on the front of it, but that “the price of being virtuous is hypocrisy” and that it’s unrealistic to expect sports could continue without money from the mining or energy sector.

“If you think fossil fuels are going to disappear in the very near future then you’re mistaken because that’s the end of the civilised world as we know it no matter what you think of climate and no matter what you think of global warming,” he said.

“I notice one of the netballers said they weren’t happy with Hancock because of their climate record, I mean seriously the world we live in is being run by patronising and pompous, arrogant people who have no idea really what they’re on about.”

He then dubbed the netballers as hypocrites.

“We have people with low IQs telling a sporting body which is on its knees financially that they won’t accept money from sponsorship deals from a company which I’m sure that those people who are complaining use one of those products indirectly or directly that Hancock Mining or Hancock industries have fabricated on a daily basis,” he said.

When Sky News host Chris Kenny suggested that sports stars should just not play if they don’t agree with who sponsors their game, Newman disagreed, saying that those running teams or codes have a “duty of care” to inform players before they sign up.

“[They have] a duty of care [to] say to the rank and file before they sign them up, "We're going to have Alinta Energy or Hancock mining sponsor us, have you got any problems with it?’” Newman said.

“And if they have you could actually sort it out before they did the deal.”

As for the Fremantle Dockers, Newman took the opportunity to slam the sport in general.

“If I could just go a step further (about) the feigned indignation of the AFL who insist on telling us to be the moral arbiters of what we believe in,” he said.

“I've said this before. At the AFL grand final we had three references to Indigenous Australians.

“One of them is absolutely appropriate and no one could agree with it more.

“But they had three separate references... lest we have to be told that we (have to) respect everything that's going on in the country.

“They made a Muslim woman (Haneen Zreika of the Giants) the face of the AFLW, and then... she declined (to) wear the gay pride jumper.

“If you get into the political realm in a sporting organisation, you end up creating a hornet's nest for the people who want nothing more than to go to the football or the sporting event just to watch it for what it is.

“But they keep forcing this moral code onto us, to perhaps appease their own social prejudices and it turns into a ridiculous, woke society of nonsense.”

Image: Sky News (Facebook)

"Pull ya head in": Lisa Wilkinson’s colleagues lash out

Lisa Wilkinson’s colleagues have turned on her in the wake of the Brittany Higgins trial being delayed.

The Project host caused serious legal issues for the alleged rape case against the former Liberal Staffer following her Logies speech.

Chief Justice Lucy McCallum announced the case, which was due to begin next week, has been delayed due to Wilkinson’s speech.

And now, Wilkinson’s Channel 10 colleagues have turned on her and the result has been nothing but nasty.

Beloved weatherman Tim Bailey called out Wilkinson in a now deleted tweet telling her to “pull ya head in”.

“Hey Lisa, pull ya head in. I know this might be difficult, because it is a very big head. But please try. #LisaWilkinson #Logies2022 #carparkthief,” the tweet read.

Veteran newsreader Sandra Sully has also liked a tweet by celebrity reporter Peter Ford, who heavily criticised Wilkinson’s speech.

His tweet had an image of The Daily Telegraph’s Wednesday front page showing Wilkinson with her hand up and the headline: “Hand up if you’ve caused court chaos”.

Ford also tweeted: “Such serious consequences from @Lisa_Wilkinson Logies speech. If only she’d stuck to silly stories like the paparazzi who stalked her in Chapel Street. Hope she now backs away now and lets people seek justice they (both parties) deserve.”

Sunrise presenter Natalie Barr also briefly mentioned the incident on the breakfast TV show on Wednesday questioning why the speech wasn’t checked by lawyers.

“You know, we have our own lawyers, we often consult them before we put a story to air, would this have been the case where Channel 10's lawyers should have stepped in and lawyered this speech?”

Ironically, Wilkinson called for discretion to be used when writing/reporting on the case.

“Naming the man on social media & passing judgement could have dire consequences for the outcome of any trial,” she tweeted last year.

There is a high possibility that Wilkinson’s speech could be investigated and she may face legal consequences according to President of the Australian Bar Association Matthew Collin.

Bruce Lehrmann is accused of sexually assaulting Higgins in 2019 and was due to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court next week.

He has pleaded not guilty over the alleged rape.

Lehrmann’s team then requested a temporary stay of court proceedings due to the publicity surrounding the case from the speech.

Images: Instagram

Guy Sebastian responds after lashing out at teens in new clip

Guy Sebastian has admitted he regrets language he used in a clip of him swearing at a group of teenagers over the Easter holiday break, adding the clip didn’t show the full extent of the situation.

The footage, obtained by The Daily Telegraph, shows the Voice coach storming up to the group of teens and calling one a “f***wit” after they allegedly said something offensive to him.

Looking clearly frustrated, the clip shows Sebastian approach the group saying, “I was f***ing being nice to you”, as one teen tells him to calm down.

“He’s a kid, calm down,” one teen repeats.

“I was a kid once, I wasn’t a f***wit,” Sebastian replies.

In his response to the clip, the 40-year-old singer said he regretted using strong language, but that the clip didn’t show everything.

“We all know teenagers can push boundaries,” he told Sunday Confidential.

“This isn’t an isolated situation.

“Being provoked for a reaction and being filmed sometimes comes with being in the public eye.

“I shouldn’t have sworn, I am not proud of that, but … it’s a very short snippet of a situation that does not tell the full story.”

The emergence of the footage comes at the end of a tough week for the Aussie artist, who gave evidence against his former manager in court and was forced to postpone his tour dates after testing positive to Covid.

Image: @guysebastian (Instagram)

Malcolm Turnbull lashes out against Liberal party's infighting

Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has claimed the Liberal Party has encouraged voters to vote for independents in the upcoming federal election, arguing they can use their votes to spark change where members of the party cannot.

Mr Turnbull spoke at the Washington Harvard Club at 8am (AEST) this morning, where he encouraged Australians to use “direct, democratic action” by voting for independents.

“In many respects this may be the most interesting part of the whole election, because if more of these ‘teal’ independents win, it will mean the capture of the Liberal Party will be thwarted by direct, democratic action from voters,” Turnbull told the club, according to an advance copy of the speech shared with The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

He concluded that “even if the members of a political party cannot escape from the thrall of the dominant faction, their traditional supporters in the electorate can do so by voting for an independent who has a real chance of success”.

“..if we love freedom, if we prefer democracy to tyranny, we will have to defend it. We have repair it when it is found wanting, we will have to make it work when it is dysfunctional, and we will have to call out those who are seeking to undermine it.” https://t.co/HdEfqfTP8x

— Malcolm Turnbull (@TurnbullMalcolm) May 5, 2022

Mr Turnbull also touched on arguments made by both political parties in the current election campaign, including the idea that voting for independents will cause instability and chaos.

“But, in truth, many parliaments, including Australia, have operated with stability and good effect with major parties requiring the support of independents or minor parties to pass legislation and, in fact, in our Senate that has always been the case,” he said in his speech.

“Formal coalitions are also very common, the Liberal Party has always been in a coalition with the (rurally based) National Party, for example.

“Political instability invariably comes from internal ructions within the major, governing parties, not from independents on the cross benches.”

Since his resignation from parliament in 2018, Mr Turnbull has been an incisive critic of his former party.

But, this speech comes as the first time he has weighed in on the federal election campaign after declining to say if he would vote for his Liberal representative last month.

When asked whether he would vote for Dave Sharma, the Liberal MP running for Mr Turnbull’s former seat of Wentworth, Mr Turnbull said both Mr Sharam and independent candidate Allegra Spender were “very good” options, per news.com.au.

Mr Turnbull was also expected to touch on the changes in the Liberal Party’s beliefs from being a broad collection of liberal and conservative beliefs prior to his 2018 “deposition” to the marginalisation of moderate voices currently.

He hit out at both members of the “political right” in the party and claimed that Rupert Murdoch’s media supported them in opposing “effective action for many years”.

Having previously backed former PM Kevin Rudd’s call for a royal commission into Murdoch’s influence on Australian politics, Mr Turnbull took time in his speech to criticise the media giant for legitimising “the type of crazy fact-free, conspiracy-laden content that used to be the preserve of social media alone”.

“Australia has not been immune to this,” his speech reads. “Rupert Murdoch has the largest voice in Australia’s media. His outlets, to differing extents, have gone down the same populist partisan track as Fox News. Sky News Australia is the local Murdoch-owned subscription television service and has essentially the same model as Fox.

“We are learning that merely elevating truthful content will not be enough to change our current course. We are drowning in lies.”

Image: Getty Images

Scott Morrison lashes out at "NoVac" Djokovic's bogus vax exemption

Image: Getty

In a dramatic turn of events, Scott Morrison has accused Novak Djokovic of trying to 'run the border' in an epic serve against the tennis star who has been refused entry into Australia.

The prime minister said Novak Djokovic only has himself to blame for his predicament because he didn't have a valid vaccine exemption to enter Australia.

'I want to thank the Border Force officers for doing their job implementing the Government's policies, they have done their job, entry with a visa requires double vaccination, or a medical exemption,' Mr Morrison said.

'I am advised that such an exemption was not in place, and as a result he is subject to the same rule as anyone else.

'People try to run the border all the time. People come with a visa that may not satisfy other requirements for entry - and they are put back on planes and turned back all the time.'

'I also want to stress, that ultimately, this is the responsibility of the traveller. It is for the traveller to be able to assert and backup their ability to come into the country consistent with our laws’.

However Alan Jones blasted the federal government over the move to deport Djokovic - claiming he is being treated like a 'common criminal'.

The outspoken broadcaster accused the government of 'weaponising' Djokovic's case and unfairly singling him out when similar applications from other players had been approved.

'It gives every impression, as with so many issues, that governments are prepared to abandon facts and cave in to pressure from the left-wing Twitter mob,' Jones wrote in a post on his personal Facebook page.

'Djokovic was granted an exemption - now it appears that the visa rules which have applied to others who were granted exemptions, do not apply to Djokovic.'

'It is easy to see Djokovic as the villain; but the image of an Australia treating a bloke like a common criminal owes more to the behaviour of a police state than it does to a liberal democracy.

'You either have rule by law or rule by the mob. Which is it?'

Jones' rant came as an image emerged reportedly showing Djokovic being taken in a van to a hotel quarantine facility in Melbourne on Thursday morning.

Djokovic's team are understood to have applied for a type of visa that does not allow medical exemptions for the unvaccinated.

The Prime Minister's criticism comes just hours after the tennis champion was ordered to leave the country, as he jeopardised his chances of competing in the upcoming Australian Open.

But with just seconds to spare, the two athletes completed the challenge in time.

Despite passing the mission, Jana was eliminated by the DS.

“Outstanding effort. Sunrise journalist lashes back at Annastacia Palaszczuk

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been criticised for avoiding a question about Queensland's COVID-19 situation because she thought the journalist was being "rude".

The Queensland Premier had been accused of irresponsibly putting the vaccine rollout in jeopardy to score political points against the federal government, after telling young people in the state not to get the AstraZeneca jab.

During a press conference on Thursday, Ms Palaszczuk snapped at a Sunrise reporter Bianca Stone for being "rude" after she questioned whether it was a "political stunt".

“Sorry, I don’t know your name,” Ms Palaszczuk interrupted.

“Bianca Stone,” she replied.

“Hi Bianca.”

As Stone asked her question again, Ms Palaszczuk cut in.

“I won’t answer people being rude,” she said. “You are being very rude. Anyone else with a question?”

Stone later hit back on social media.

“Journalists are given limited opportunity at these government media conferences to ask questions,” she tweeted.

Journalists are given limited opportunity at these government media conferences to ask questions. (Spouting) incorrect info on AstraZeneca then saying they were going to run out of Pfizer... all to deflect blame over a hospital outbreak.”

Another reporter grilled Ms Palaszczuk on her claim that the UK had refused to offer AstraZeneca to under-40s.

“Yes, there is an article that talks about under-40s to be given an alternative to AstraZeneca,” she replied.

“You weren’t here yesterday either, and I actually read from the article. I am happy to provide you with a copy of the article.”

Dr Young denied a reporter’s suggestion she was “scaremongering”.

“No, I just put out the facts,” she said.

“My advice is very, very clearly that people who are 60 years of age or older should be going to their GP or a Commonwealth vaccine clinic to get AstraZeneca. Anyone under 60, if you’ve already had one dose of the vaccine, you need a second dose of the same vaccine, whether it’s Pfizer or AstraZeneca. If you haven’t had your first dose and you are under the age of 60 and at least 16 years of age, then you should be scheduling yourself as soon as it becomes available to you to get the Pfizer vaccine.”

“You’re f***ing gone”: Furious Tom Cruise lashes out on set of Mission Impossible

Furious Tom Cruise has ripped into workers who broke COVID rules on the set of Mission: Impossible, screaming: “If I see you doing it again, you’re f***ing gone.”

The Hollywood superstar has gone the extra mile to make sure tight social-distancing rules were being implemented during the filming, which is taking place in Britain.

And after coming across two of the crew members standing within two metres of each other, he quickly flew into a rage.

The Sun published the audio recording, which heard Cruise shouting: “If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again.”

50 staff members at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Herts, were left shocked by the angry outburst.

The 58-year-old was furious that his efforts to keep filming going during a pandemic could be at risk.

He went on: “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. “We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers.

“That’s it. No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f***ing homes because our industry is shut down. “

“We are not shutting this f***ing movie down. Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re f***ing gone.”

A source said: “Tom has taken it upon himself, along with the health and safety department, to try to force the safety precautions, with a view to keeping the film running.

“He does daily rounds to make sure that everything is set up appropriately, that people are behaving and working as safely as they can. He is very proactive when it comes to safety.”

They added: “Everyone was wearing masks. It was purely that these people were standing under a metre away from each other.

“It isn’t known whether he saw those guys breaking the rules before or whether this was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

“People make mistakes and they slip up, but Tom is just on it.”

Tom’s rant, in full:

“We want the gold standard. They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us! Because they believe in us and what we’re doing!

I’m on the phone with every f***ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers, and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs you motherf***ers.

I don’t ever want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it you’re fired, if I see you do it again you’re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it – that’s it, and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again.

That’s it! No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f***ing homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education.

That’s what I sleep with every night. The future of this f***ing industry! So I’m sorry I am beyond your apologies. I have told you and now I want it and if you don’t do it you’re out. We are not shutting this f***ing movie down! Is it understood?

If I see it again you’re f***ing gone — and you are — so you’re going to cost him his job, if I see it on the set you’re gone and you’re gone.

That’s it. Am I clear?

Do you understand what I want? Do you understand the responsibility that you have? Because I will deal with your reason. And if you can’t be reasonable and I can’t deal with your logic, you’re fired. That’s it. That is it.

I trust you guys to be here. That’s it. That’s it guys. Have a little think about it …[inaudible].

That’s what I think of Universal and Paramount. Warner Brothers. Movies are going because of us. If we shut down it’s going to cost people f***ing jobs, their home, their family. That’s what’s happening.

All the way down the line. And I care about you guys, but if you’re not going to help me you’re gone. OK? Do you see that stick? How many metres is that?

When people are standing around a f***ing computer and hanging out around here, what are you doing? And if they don’t comply then send their names to Matt Spooner. That’s it.”

China lashes out at Scott Morrison as diplomatic tensions escalate

China has lashed out at Scott Morrison for trying to blame the COVID-19 pandemic on the communist state, warning that any push for an independent inquiry into the virus’ origins will spark a travel and trade boycott of Australia.

As diplomatic tensions escalated Tuesday night, the Department of Foreign Affairs issued a rebuke to China for leaking confidential details of a private conversation between Australian officials and China over the threats.

But the state-controlled People’s Daily accused the Prime Minister of trying to use the calls for a probe to deflect criticism over his mishandling of the bushfires and the coronavirus crisis.

“The deeply troubled Morrison government is anxious to find an outlet for the domestic public’s anger,” reported the publication.

“They are using an old trick to try and blame China.”

They predicted that the Prime Minister’s request for an independent inquiry would fail, saying France and the United Kingdom would reject it.

“This is a slap on the face which has come quickly,” it wrote.

Global Times, a newspaper run by the state, also slammed Morrison with the headline: “Morrison’s adventurism could damage China-Australia relations beyond repair.

“The Morrison administration is spearheading this malicious campaign to frame and incriminate China with groundless conjecture and outlandish fabrications,” an editorial states.

“Based on unsubstantiated anecdotes and hearsay, Australia has been spreading preposterous lies accusing China of opening wet markets trading in wildlife across the country. Sensational tales, which are far from reality, are being told by media shock jocks and some politicians, who allege that bats are on menus in restaurants in China. This nonsense is stigmatising the Chinese community and the Chinese way of life.

“This is an all-out crusade against China and Chinese culture, led by Australia.”

Mother lashes out at police after receiving “ridiculous” fine for driving lesson amid coronavirus restrictions

A mother of a schoolgirl has lashed out at police after receiving a fine of $1,652 after taking her daughter for a driving lesson.

Hunter told Nine News she was learning to drive in wet weather conditions alongside her mother Sharee in Frankston, Victoria on Sunday when they were pulled over by police.

The officer told the pair that 17-year-old Hunter was breaking stage-three coronavirus restriction rules and as a result would be slapped with an eye-watering fine, but Sharee vows she will be contesting the “ridiculous” penalty.

“Common sense did not prevail,” Ms Reynolds told The Herald Sun.

“I didn’t for one moment think we were breaking the rules. We live together, we didn’t leave the car or stop.”

Residents in NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT have been banned from leaving their homes except for food and supplies, medical care, exercise and work or education since last Monday.

Sharee says she did not believe taking her daughter for a driving lesson was doing the wrong thing.

“We didn't think for one minute that we would be doing anything wrong,” she explained to 3AW on Monday.

“We weren't in contact with any person, we weren't stopping anywhere, we weren't planning on visiting any destinations, we were just learning to drive in those conditions.

“She (the officer) said we were too far from home and we would cop a fine, and that Hunter would be the person to receive that fine.”

Schoolgirl Hunter admitted she was “really stressing” when police pulled her over.

“I was just shocked, because I obviously hadn't done anything wrong, or so I thought. I was just really stressing,” she said.

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Dr Brett Sutton has defended the fine, saying a teenager driving is a non-essential activity.

Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton said there was a possibility the penalty would be reversed.

“It's quite possible it will be withdrawn because the public is now aware they can't be doing that activity, unless of course it's mixed in with driving to the shops where you are exempt to go and buy food, those sort of things” he said.

Mr Patton said there would be an assessment of all circumstances before a decision to withdraw the fine or not could be made.
