Home and Away is set to introduce a new character, with actress Nicole da Silva joining the cast as Dr Amelia Carlisle.

Filming is already underway, with the new arrival expected to bring fresh storylines to Summer Bay in the coming months.

“Help is on the way for the Northern Districts Hospital! Amelia, played by the talented Nicole da Silva, will be arriving in the coming months on Home and Away 💙” the official Instagram account for the show announced.

Da Silva is a well-known name in Australian television, recognised for her roles as Stella Dagostino in Rush and Franky Doyle in Wentworth, where she played one of the show’s most prominent characters.

Her career has spanned television, film and stage, with a recent appearance in the production of The Lover at Sydney’s Ensemble Theatre. Her performance work has earned praise across the industry, helping establish her as a familiar and respected figure on Australian screens.

Speaking about her new role, da Silva said she had been warmly welcomed by the cast and crew.

“The Home And Away team have been so welcoming,” she said.

“I look forward to audiences meeting Amelia in the coming months.”

Her casting follows months of speculation after fans spotted her filming scenes with regular cast members earlier this year.

The new role comes after the departure of Dr Bree Cameron, played by Juliet Godwin, who left the series late last year after three years on the show.

In her final storyline, Bree departed Summer Bay to take up a position with Doctors Without Borders, leaving behind her role at Northern Districts Hospital.

Her exit marked an emotional farewell, particularly for her former partner Remi Carter, who urged her not to forget their shared past as she left.
