Channel 10 has confirmed the axing of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! from 2027.

The announcement came a week after speculation that the long-running series could be cut, with reports budget pressures had placed the show under review.

At the time, a spokesperson for the network said no final decision had been made.

Now, the broadcaster has confirmed the show will not return in 2027, as it reshapes its programming strategy across platforms.

“We have made the decision to rest I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2027 as we focus on offering our audience a range of content on all platforms,” a Network 10 spokesperson said.

The statement left the door open for a possible return in future years.

“We look forward to working with [current hosts] Julia Morris and Robert Irwin on other projects,” it added.

The decision follows reports the show’s high production costs were under increasing scrutiny, with industry sources suggesting the format had become difficult to sustain financially.

One source reportedly told The Sydney Morning Herald: “10 has been running the ruler over I’m a Celeb for months on end,”

“They’ve been looking at every possible option to make it stack up financially but in the end, it’ll come down to whether or not they can justify the cost.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has been a fixture of Network 10’s summer schedule, filmed in the South African jungle and known for pairing celebrities with extreme challenges in support of charity.

The program’s current host Robert Irwin joined the series in 2023 alongside Julia Morris.

Irwin paid tribute to the show in a statement following news of its hiatus.

“I want to express what an absolute privilege it has been to work on this show for the past three seasons. I grew up watching this show as so many Aussies do, so to be part of the fantastic team that make this series a reality felt like a dream come true,” he said.

“We have had the honour of sharing incredible stories and create a platform to shine a light on amazing charities that our celebrities have supported along the way. And to do it all alongside my co-host, and friend, Julia Morris made it a truly life-changing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Irwin is also reportedly in discussions for future projects with other networks in the TV industry.

Over the years, the show has remained popular with audiences, following celebrities in the jungle as they take on gruelling challenges in exchange for donations to charity.

Last year’s winner was comedian Concetta Caristo, with previous winners including Sam Thaiday, Abbie Chatfield, Casey Donovan and Brendan Fevola.
