Olympic champion Bronte Campbell has dived into a joyful new chapter, marrying her longtime partner Benfield Lainchbury in a stunning seaside celebration that perfectly reflected their shared love of the water.
The triple gold medallist, 31, exchanged vows with the businessman aboard a floating boat villa off Palm Beach, after keeping the destination a surprise from their guests. Friends and family were initially told to gather on the sand, only to be delighted by the unique ceremony unfolding just offshore.
Captured in a series of luminous images by photographer Alec Bruce-Mason, the day was filled with heartfelt moments, including a kiss shared by the newlyweds as they sealed their vows surrounded by loved ones.
For the ceremony, Campbell wore an elegant white gown by Melbourne bridal studio Lola Varma, later telling Vogue Australia she felt like “my absolute most elevated self.” In a playful nod to her Olympic career, the couple even paused mid-ceremony for a celebratory swim, embracing the ocean that has played such a central role in her life.
Campbell later changed into a vibrant yellow dress by Effie Kats for the reception, where guests gathered to eat, laugh and celebrate under sunny skies. “Our friend Finny married us with our nearest and dearest watching and then we sat down and ate together and celebrated on the most gorgeous day,” she shared on Instagram.
Despite much of the planning coming together at the last minute, Campbell said the day exceeded every expectation. “It came together better than I could have imagined,” she admitted.
The couple’s love story stretches back years – they first knew each other as children before reconnecting romantically in 2016. Since then, Lainchbury has been a constant source of support throughout Campbell’s decorated swimming career, including her triumphant return to the pool that led to a third Olympic gold.
Just weeks after the 2024 Summer Olympics, Lainchbury proposed during a romantic getaway in Venice. “Easiest yes of my life,” Campbell wrote at the time, sharing her excitement for the future.
While her sister Cate Campbell has stepped away from competitive swimming, Bronte is currently taking a break and weighing up a potential return for the 2028 Summer Olympics. A decision is expected later this year.
For now, though, it’s celebration mode – with love, sunshine and a splash of Olympic spirit marking the beginning of an exciting new journey.
