Australian swimming champion Ariarne Titmus has announced her engagement to partner Mac Powell.
The couple shared the news with photos of a romantic beach proposal in Mykonos, Greece, on Titmus’ 26th birthday.
“You + me forever 🤍 07.09.26,” Titmus wrote.
The images showed the moment Powell proposed, followed by their celebrations on the beach, with Titmus looking stunning in a white lace outfit for the occasion.
The couple have been together for about two years and first made their relationship public at the Australian Open in January 2025.
They were introduced after being “set up” on a date, with Titmus previously saying in an interview with the Herald Sun that Powell initially “had no idea who I was”.
“[It] was perfect, because then he got to know me,” she said at the time.
“And we went out for a drink and that was it, basically.”
Titmus later moved from Queensland to Melbourne to be with Powell, who works as an investment analyst in Victoria.
The engagement comes after Titmus announced her retirement from swimming last year at the age of 25.
She finished her Olympic career with four gold medals, having won two golds and two silvers at the 2024 Paris Games. She had previously won two golds, one silver and one bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.
Fellow swimmers, including Emma McKeon, Brianna Throssell and Cate Campbell, congratulated the couple on the happy news.
“Woohoo 🎉 congrats,” wrote Grant Hackett.
“CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you both,” added Shayna Jack.
American swimming star Katie Ledecky also sent her well wishes.
