The Block stars design the most beautiful toilets at a "servo" you'll ever see

We’ve all been to a service station bathroom at least once in our lives, and while they come in handy in emergency situations, it’s no secret that they can be filthy.

To confirm this fact, Caltex conducted a survey and results showed that 70 per cent of Australians believe in the importance of service station bathrooms, but half of that figure think they’re “very dirty”.

It was revealed that 35 per cent of people prefer to “hold on” rather than use a toilet at a service station.

So, to improve the customer experience, Caltex partnered up with The Block superstars Alisa and Lysandra to help turn their service station into an interior designer’s dream.

The Foodary in Derrimut, Victoria now comes complete with free Wi-Fi, fresh food and barista-made coffee. But that’s not even the best part, as the Aussie servo is one of the fanciest you would have ever seen.

You’ll also find a diner-style kitchen complete with made-to-order meals.

But it's the bathrooms that are the standout, and it makes sense as to why. During 2013's series of The Block, the two sisters were known for their impeccable taste when designing bathrooms, which is why they went on to win the season.

“The bathrooms and showers are the centrepiece, bringing Scandinavian interior design elements that are very different to what you would expect at a service station,” explains Lysandra.

“We are proud to have worked with Caltex on this project – the new store shows how interior design can be used to improve the customer experience.”

And that is exactly what the pair did, with their keen eye for detail, you forget that you have walked into a servo, which is exactly what Caltex was hoping for.

“It’s not just about being able to refuel, but providing the convenience of fresh food, high quality barista-made coffee as well as other services,” says Helen Moore, Caltex’s General manager of Convenience Development.

“We are also integrating technology to improve the customer experience, with our customers able to pre-order through a smartphone app and pick up coffee and fresh food without waiting.”
