Stepson of billionaire trapped on sub called out for gross behaviour

<p>The stepson of the billionaire trapped onboard the OceanGate Titanic submersible has been called out online for attending a rock concert while his step-father remains missing in the Atlantic Ocean. </p> <p>Brian Szasz is the stepson of billionaire Hamish Harding, who is trapped on the missing vessel along with four others, days after the group left on an expedition to the wreckage of the Titanic. </p> <p>While rescue efforts continue to locate the group, Szasz has caused a stir online after being spotted with a beaming smile attending a Blink-182. </p> <p>Among those furious and confused by Szasz's actions was rapper Cardi B, who slammed the man on Instagram to her 167 million followers. </p> <p>"One of the billionaires that's missing underwater from that submarine s–t …Their stepson is at a concert, right?" Cardi B starts.</p> <p>The rapper noted that she felt that attending a concert, and post about it online amid the search and rescue of a loved one felt tone deaf.</p> <p>"People is like, um, 'What is he supposed to do? Be sad at the house? Is he supposed to go look for him himself?' Yes," she said.</p> <p>"Isn't it sad that you a whole f—ing billionaire and nobody gives a f–k about you?" the rapper asks. "That's crazy. I'd rather be broke. I'd rather be broke and poor, but knowing that I'm loved."</p> <p>Szasz fired back at the rapper, telling her to "show some class for once in your life", while he responded to the media storm after he claimed his family "would've wanted him to go" to the concert. </p> <p>"Yes, I went to @Blink182 last night. What am I supposed to do, sit at home and watch the news? Not sorry this band has helped me through hard times since 1998."</p> <p>Just hours after the online backlash over attending the concert, Szasz was once again being slammed online for flirting with an OnlyFans model on Twitter.</p> <p>Szasz retweeted an image of Only Fans it-girl Brea flashing her backside in a G-string with the caption, “can i sit on u” on the social media site, with Szasz responding, “Yes please!”</p> <p>The post came just minutes after he asked followers to “please keep my family in your prayers.”</p> <p>One commenter wrote of the unusual behaviour, “Lmao quote tweeting a thirst trap while your stepdad is lost at sea is wild business”, as another slammed, “Unreal to be tweeting this [right now.]”</p> <p>Another user added, “This guy loves blink-182 and having ladies sit on his face and he’s not afraid to let the world know.”</p> <p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 16px 0px 20px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 28px; vertical-align: baseline;"><em>Image credits: Facebook / Action Aviation</em></p>

"I just went numb": Man recalls helicopter crash that gravely injured wife and stepson

<p>A father has recounted the horrifying moment he watched his wife and stepson plummet to the ground in a wrecked helicopter after a mid-air collision on the Gold Coast. </p> <p>Neil De Silva told the <a href="https://www.heraldsun.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=HSWEB_WRE170_a&amp;dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.heraldsun.com.au%2Fnews%2Fvictoria%2Fgeelong-mum-son-among-sea-world-chopper-casualties%2Fnews-story%2Fc3de255af1ae5ea3e8b5611b2eeae87c&amp;memtype=anonymous&amp;mode=premium&amp;v21=dynamic-high-control-score&amp;V21spcbehaviour=append" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Herald Sun</a> that he felt powerless to help as he watched his family collide with another helicopter at high speeds. </p> <p>“Winnie and Leon’s helicopter took off, it only went about 200 metres in the air,” Mr De Silva said.</p> <p>“I could see the other helicopter that was due to land … it looked like they were going to crash into one another."</p> <p>“As it got closer, I was thinking ‘this is crazy, this looks really bad’ and I just went numb”.</p> <p>After a pain-staking two hour wait, Neil was eventually informed that his wife Winnie, 33, and stepson Leon, 9, had survived the devastating crash, but had been rushed to hospital in critical condition. </p> <p><a href="https://oversixty.com.au/news/news/helicopter-crash-victims-identified" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Four others</a> on their flight were killed in the collision, while another young boy, 10, also remains critical in hospital. </p> <p>In a heart-wrenching twist to the De Silva's story, Neil revealed that the Geelong family were celebrating the end of a challenging year by treating themselves to a budget Gold Coast getaway. </p> <p>Mr De Silva shared that it had always been Winnie’s dream to take her son Leon on a chopper ride, so they decided to treat themselves to the adventure ride. </p> <p>“It was Winnie’s dream to take Leon on a helicopter,” Mr de Silva said.</p> <p>“I thought I would shout them a 10-minute flight."</p> <p>“We were on a budget holiday, trying to save money but I wanted them to have that experience.”</p> <p>Winnie remains critical but stable in the Gold Coast University Hospital with two broken legs, a damaged left knee, a broken right shoulder and a broken collarbone.</p> <p>Leon remains in a coma with facial and head injuries, a cracked skull and severe trauma to the brain in Brisbane’s Queensland Children’s Hospital.</p> <p>Mr De Silva has organised a<a title="www.gofundme.com" href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-winnie-leon-seaworld-crash-victims?qid=8e66b72e6929303fe5aef72a4eb79661"> GoFundMe</a> to support the family as he takes time off work to be by their side.</p> <p>Leon moved from Kenya to Australia about a year ago to be with Winnie, and his life Down Under was set to be full of new experiences.</p> <p>“This was his first helicopter flight,” he said. “Everything is a new experience for him.”</p> <p>“I feel blessed that Winnie and Leon survived."</p> <p>“Four people died — they are blessed to be alive.”</p> <p><em>Image credits: GoFundMe</em></p>

Helen Mirren's stepson dead at 52

<p>Actor and club owner Rio Del Valle Hackford has died in California at age 52. </p> <p>Hackford, who appeared in films and TV shows including <em>Jonah Hex</em>, <em>Swingers</em>, <em>Treme</em> and <em>The Mandalorian</em>, was the step-son of British acting legend Helen Mirren. </p> <p>His brother Alex confirmed the news, saying he had died of an illness. </p> <p>Rio Hackford, who was the son of director Taylor Hackford, was known by friends for being a "connector of all sorts of people," said his friend, screenwriter D.V. DeVincentis.</p> <p>"Not simply obsessed with movies and how they mirrored and compelled, he was something more: a superfan of innumerable scenes, of particular gestures of unsung actors, weird career turns, roaring comebacks, cinema swan songs," DeVincentis wrote on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CcWrs87pZgB/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a>.</p> <p>Hackford was known for his joy and excitement of life, and his generous embrace of artists at his clubs including Matador and One-Eyed Jacks in New Orleans, where he also owned Pal's Lounge.</p> <p>In San Francisco, he owned Homestead, and in Los Angeles he renovated the Monty bar just west of downtown.</p> <p>These inclusive venues were often seen as a safe haven for alternative artists, which Rio championed. </p> <p>"He was a great magnet to creative people, with a Zelig-like path that could make a page-turner of a biography. He loved the alchemy of personalities and talents, and was one of the great facilitators in this respect," DeVincentis continued.</p> <p>He is survived by his wife, musician Libby Grace; two children; brother Alex; his father; and stepmother Helen Mirren.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

New Beatrice wedding snap reveals her new stepson

<p>Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi stunned fans when they shared photos from their intimate royal wedding, but now a new snap of the happy couple has been revealed - and it features Edoardo’s son Christopher.</p> <p>In a now-deleted photo that appeared on the couple’s florist Rob Van Helden Floral Design’s Instagram account, the couple are seen leaving the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor, but there’s another guest in the shot.</p> <p>Despite his face not being visible, Edo’s four-year-old son Wolfie was spotted standing right behind his dad.</p> <p>Wolfie served as best man and page boy and his mother is Edo's ex partner Dara Huang.</p> <p>"What a week....!!! Karen Ristevski’s stepson arrested one day before father’s committal hearing

His lawyer has indicated that he would be pleading not guilty.</p> <p>The couple's daughter, Sarah, is also expected to give evidence at the committal hearing, which is will hear nearly 30 witnesses.</p> <p>Mr Rickard was remanded in custody to appear in the Sunshine Magistrates Court on his bail offences on July 20.</p>
