Kochie’s surprise return to Sunrise

<p dir="ltr">David Koch has shocked <em>Sunrise</em> viewers by making a surprise return to the Channel Seven morning show, two months after leaving his long-standing hosting role. </p> <p dir="ltr">While dropping in to share the details of this next business venture with Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington, Kochie revealed how his life has changed <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/kochie-s-emotional-farewell-on-sunrise" target="_blank" rel="noopener">since he left <em>Sunrise</em></a> in June. </p> <p dir="ltr">He admitted that he’s not missing the early morning starts, after 20 years of waking up at 3:30am for the show, saying, “I feel like a new man.”</p> <p dir="ltr">But while Kochie has been revelling in the sleep-ins, he said that his wife Libby has been feeling a little put out by his presence. </p> <p dir="ltr">“I’m not sure Lib is enjoying me being awake so late at night because it interrupts all of her shows,” he said. </p> <p dir="ltr">“She still keeps the zapper and goes ‘Nick off! You can’t control that!’”</p> <p dir="ltr">Kochie admitted that while he’s enjoying “working business hours now”, he does miss his TV career a little.</p> <p dir="ltr">“A bit of me does, but it was time to go and do something else,” he admitted.</p> <p dir="ltr">Kochie appeared on <em>Sunrise</em> to chat about his new role as the economic director of price comparison website Compare the Market.</p> <p dir="ltr">While chatting to his former colleagues, Kochie addressed the awkward moment at the recent Logie awards in which he was <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/sonia-kruger-s-cheeky-shot-during-logies-victory-speech" target="_blank" rel="noopener">targeted</a> by host Sam Pang. </p> <p dir="ltr">During the award ceremony, Pang paid tribute to the recently retired <em>Sunrise</em> host who “changed breakfast television forever. Warmth, humour, personality... you needed none of those.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Kochie said he wasn’t offended by the gags, saying, “He can only say that because we know it’s true!”</p> <p dir="ltr">“He did such a great job and the gags were really good. Abbie Chatfield fires up over Sonia Kruger's Gold Logie win

<p>Abbie Chatfield has slammed Sonia Kruger's recent Gold Logie win after accusing the TV presenter of discrimination.</p> <p>The <em>Masked Singer </em>judge expressed her disapproval of Kruger's Gold Logie win on her <em>It's A Lot podcast</em>, where she criticised the "disgusting" comments Kruger made about Muslim immigration in 2016.</p> <p>"It's very easy for white feminists to be like, "A woman won. Aren't you happy a woman won?" Karl addresses cringeworthy Kochie joke at the Logies

<p>Karl Stefanovic has addressed his awkward joke at the Logies on Sunday night, which was aimed at long-running breakfast TV rival David Koch. </p> <p>While presenting an award at the ceremony, Stefanovic took to opportunity to rip into Kochie with the ad-libbed joke, which left the audience more bewildered than entertained. </p> <p>It started when Kochie confessed his fondness for the third season of Stan series <em>Bump</em> while speaking to the star-studded audience. </p> <p>Seizing the moment, Stefanovic took a comedic leap, playing on the double entendre of "bump", a term colloquially associated with cocaine. </p> <p>"I want to just check something... I am pretty sure before I heard Kochie say he loves Bump's... season three. Did anyone mishear that? Because I am pretty sure I did."</p> <p>"Anyway, those are the headlines tomorrow morning..." Stefanovic remarked, hoping for a laugh, while cameras panned to Kochie who looked utterly confused by the joke. </p> <p>Addressing the joke on Monday morning while speaking to Kyle and Jackie O, the <em>Today</em> host shared that even his wife Jasmine mocked him for the joke falling flat. </p> <p>"Clearly the audience was too old. There really wasn't much laughter. It was one of those totally awkward moments," Stefanovic happily admitted. </p> <p>“I got back to my seat, and you know, generally our partners support us.... that one went flat. Once I explained [to wife Jasmine].... but as they say, if you explain something, it’s no good.”</p> <p>Stefanovic also revealed that he checked in with Koch afterwards, who asked him, “Are you making fun of me again?”</p> <p>“I said, ‘I love you man!’ and he said ‘I love you too, just let me know what it’s going to be beforehand next time’,” he explained.</p> <p>The KIIS hosts then kept Stefanovic on the line while they called Koch himself.</p> <p>“I was just caught up in the confusion,” the former <em>Sunrise</em> host told the group live on air, laughing it off.</p> <p>“I must admit, I’m not [up to date] with cocaine terminology... Jackie O’s hilarious walk of shame after wild Logies all nighter

<p dir="ltr">Jackie O didn’t let her 5am start time stop her from partying all night at the Logies afterparty even if that meant she had to show up to work wearing last night’s dress.</p> <p dir="ltr">In a hilarious video uploaded to Instagram, Jackie O shared behind the scenes footage of what it was like for a celebrity to do the walk of shame into work after a big night out.</p> <p dir="ltr">The video starts off with her walking down a footpath in her red strapless gown laughing as she said "this is embarrassing".</p> <p dir="ltr">When someone asked why she was still wearing last night’s dress she sheepishly replied:</p> <p dir="ltr">“I have not been home, I had the craziest night”.</p> <p dir="ltr">The radio host shared a bunch of clips from her wild all-nighter, spliced together with time stamps.</p> <p dir="ltr">She looked like she had a great time, partying with fellow entertainers Grant Denyer and Chris Brown.</p> <p dir="ltr">At 1:53 am Brown, who was shocked that Jackie was still at the afterparty incredulously asked her: "What the hell are you doing here?"</p> <p dir="ltr">The radio host replied: “I know, I know,” but she didn’t think too hard about it as she continued to party all night, only leaving when <em>KIIS FM</em> intern Pete Deppeler told her it was 4am.</p> <p dir="ltr">When she got in the studio, Kyle Sandilands beamed with joy when he saw his co-star and exclaimed: “Oh my god, you’re in the same outfit?”</p> <p dir="ltr">Jackie O sheepishly repeated the same answer and told him that she hadn’t been home, to which a shocked Kyle replied, “what do you mean you haven’t been home?”</p> <p dir="ltr">She later explained on the show that she didn’t intend to have a big night out and got carried away with the festivities, all while sober.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I was planning on leaving straight after I presented that award," she added.</p> <p dir="ltr">"My car was booked [and] ready to go. Because I was seated next to Sophie Monk and she was at Hamish and Andy's table... and he was up for gold. Kyle Sandilands' wild Logies conspiracy theory

<p>Kyle Sandilands has share his wild Logies conspiracy theory, after he was forced to pull out from presenting an award, before being replaced by a famous rival. </p> <p>The radio shock jock was asked to present the award for Most Outstanding Children's Program while holding his 11-month-old son Otto, but decided against it at the last minute. </p> <p>On Friday, Kyle told listeners of The Kyle and Jackie O Show he had pulled the pin on the presenting duties after he learned how late the ceremony would go. </p> <p>"I've had to pull the pin. I've told them to shove it in their a**e, my exact words yesterday," he said. </p> <p>"My thing was, I had to bring my child out, he's not even one, and it was supposed to be at ten past eight. But they can't guarantee it won't be before 9PM."</p> <p>"I've got a baby, I can't be waiting around with a baby," he added. </p> <p>Kyle then said his wife Tegan was not thrilled about him presenting either.</p> <p>"My wife said, 'What does Otto get out of it? He's just a bit of arm candy for you to get on TV.' And I couldn't agree against it so I told them I'm not going."</p> <p>After pulling out of the ceremony at the last minute, the Logies gave Kyle's presenting role to his rival Dave Hughes. </p> <p>On Monday morning, Kyle shared that he thought the Logies were conspiring against him by giving the hosting gig to Hughesy, given their years of rivalry. </p> <p>"It was a big FU to me from producers to bring Hughesy on," Sandilands said.</p> <p>"I don't think there was an FU from producers," argued his co-host Jackie O. " I think they were just trying to replace you in time [for the show]."</p> <p>Hughesy later explained he thought Kyle would take his joke in good humour and that he even considered telling him about his material beforehand.</p> <p>He said, "I saw him before the show and I was almost going to tell him what I was going to say but I didn't. Sonia Kruger’s cheeky shot during Logies victory speech

<p>The 2023 Logie Awards ceremony was filled with memorable moments, both triumphant and awkward. Sam Pang took on the role of the host, becoming the first in 11 years to do so. He kicked off the proceedings with a pointed and humorous monologue, highlighting the win for diversity as the first-ever host representing both Channel 7 and Channel 10.</p> <p>“I would like to acknowledge a win for diversity tonight. I am the first host in the history of the Logies to be half and half - half Channel 7 and half Channel 10,” Pang began.</p> <p>“Let’s be honest, it’s just be great to have an Asian on Channel 7 who isn’t trying to smuggle live birds through border security,” he continued, telling viewers to strap in for the “two-day” ceremony.</p> <p>One of the night's obvious highlights was the announcement of the Gold Logie winner, Sonia Kruger. Overwhelmed with joy, Sonia expressed her gratitude and thanked everyone involved in her shows, including <em>Big Brother</em>, <em>Dancing With the Stars</em>, and <em>The Voice</em>.</p> <p>She also playfully teased last year's Gold Logie winner, Hamish Blake, for sharing the same agent and their agent's hopes for concentrating on her in the future.</p> <p>Kruger quoted a conversation with the agent who had allegedly told her “I think people are a little over Hamish [Blake].”</p> <p>She added that the man had told her “Frankly I am hoping that he will leave the agency, so I can concentrate all of my efforts on you, Sonia”.</p> <p>Karl Stefanovic, on the other hand, faced a challenging moment during his appearance. Trying to add some impromptu humour to introduce a tribute to Barry Humphries, his joke about David Koch's favourite show, <em>Bump</em>, fell flat with the audience. </p> <p>“I did want to just check something... I am pretty sure before I heard Kochie say he loves Bump’s.... season 3. Did anyone mishear that? Because I am pretty sure I did. Grant Denyer’s heartwarming message ahead of Logies

<p><span id="docs-internal-guid-b727879d-7fff-a32c-2640-3e071597eeed"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">Former <em>Sunrise</em> presenter Grant Denyer has shared a heartwarming message, just days ahead of this year's Logies.</p> <p dir="ltr">Denyer took to Instagram on Thursday to reminisce about the moment he won a Logie Award in 2018, sharing a clip of his heartfelt acceptance speech.</p> <p dir="ltr">“This still hits me in the feels five years later,” he captioned the post.</p> <p dir="ltr">He then went on to explain the deep impact winning the award had on him. </p> <p dir="ltr">“For a kid who was carrying tripods and washing the news cars in a country TV station during his school holidays ... this was the greatest moment of my professional life and I’ll cherish the s*** out of it forever.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I mean, I grew up in awe of Daryl, Bert &amp; Rove ... and in that moment, the same shy, hardworking, big dreaming kid ... joined them 🤯.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Humbled, emotional &amp; choc-a-block full of gratitude 🙏🏻 My cup was not only filled that day but overflowing." </p> <p dir="ltr">He then wished this year's Logies contenders the best of luck and added: "may it be as magical as it was for little ol’ me on that hallowed night of nights." </p> <p dir="ltr">“I’ll never forget it. #tvweeklogies.” </p> <p dir="ltr">In the clip, an emotional Denyer cheered in excitement as he got the award and thanked his tearful wife Chezzi and everyone who had given him a second chance. </p> <p dir="ltr">Fellow celebrities and fans alike applauded the beloved presenter and reminisced the moment with him. </p> <p dir="ltr">“You’re the best GD!” TV personality Angie Kent wrote. </p> <p dir="ltr">“You truly are. Hilarious moment Dr Chris Brown got punked at the Logies

<p dir="ltr">Dr Chris Brown revealed the moment he got punked by an imposter at last year’s Logies.</p> <p dir="ltr">The beloved celebrity vet told the hosts of <em>Triple M’s Mick & MG in the Morning </em>that the prank left him red-faced and wary of whether he’ll be allowed back onto the event’s red carpet this year, despite being the co-host.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I don’t think I’ll be allowed back onto the red carpet after last year’s Logies,” he said, and joked that he was shocked the incident didn’t get out into the public.</p> <p dir="ltr">Brown recalled that he had just arrived at the event and was minding his business when he started getting “strange looks” from a bunch of people.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So I’m on the red carpet and I’m getting a lot of sideways glances and not the kind you want,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Then about sort of half an hour into it I reckon about 20 people have given me strange looks … just looking disapprovingly in my direction.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The vet was confused as to why people were giving him strange looks until <em>Gardening Australia’s</em> Costa Georgiadis approached him.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Costa comes up with his phone and goes, ‘Hey, look, we’re mates but I thought this was a little unnecessary’,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Someone had changed their phone name, which you can do, to Dr Chris Brown (Bondi Vet), and was air dropping topless photos of me, shots of me emerging from the surf, paparazzi photos, air dropping them to random people on the red carpet,” Brown laughed.</p> <p dir="ltr">To the amusement of the radio hosts, Brown added: “I, to this day, have no idea how many people received a topless photo from me, apparently, on the red carpet.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Brown is set to co-host this year’s Logies red carpet alongside Sonia Kruger on July 30.</p> <p><em>Image: News.com.au</em></p>

2023 Logie hot favourites revealed

Lisa Wilkinson launches dispute into Logies speech advice

<p>TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson has lodged a new submission to an inquiry into how the rape trial against Bruce Lehrmann was handled, with a focus on the circumstances surrounding her controversial Logies speech. </p> <p>The probe was announced in 2022 by the ACT government and was to be fronted by Walter Sofronoff KC. At the time of the announcement, it was also stressed that the probe would was about not recontesting Brittany Higgins’ rape allegation, but instead about the conduct of the criminal justice agencies. </p> <p>And in April 2023, <em>news.com.au</em> confirmed that Lisa Wilkinson had made a submission, which had not yet been made public, that outlined her experience with Director of Public Prosecutions Shane Drumgold prior to her speech at the Logie Awards - the same speech that ultimately saw the trial be delayed. </p> <p>As the publication noted, Channel 10 and their lawyers have disputed allegations that the DPP “expressly warned” Wilkinson against her address at the awards ceremony. </p> <p>This was reportedly seen in a letter leaked after the trial - one sent to the ACT Supreme Court - that saw Channel 10’s Executive Vice President Beverly McGarvey declare “neither Ms Wilkinson nor the Network Ten Senior Legal Counsel present at the conference with the DPP on June 15 2022 understood that they had been cautioned that Ms Wilkinson giving an acceptance speech at the Logie Awards could result in an application being made to the court to vacate the trial date.</p> <p>“Had they understood that a specific warning had been given, Ms Wilkinson would not have given that speech.”</p> <p>Wilkinson had been accepting an award for ‘Outstanding News Coverage or Public Affairs Report’ for her coverage of Brittany Higgins’ sexual assault allegations, and in the wake of the former <em>The Project </em>host’s words, the trial was delayed from June until October. </p> <p>Lucy McCallum, ACT Chief Justice, moved the dates “with gritted teeth” after Lehrmann’s defence team made a request following the speech and the intense media coverage that followed. </p> <p>“Unfortunately, however, the recent publicity [of the speech] does, in my view, change the landscape,’’ McCallum said. </p> <p>“Because of its immediacy, its intensity and its capacity to obliterate the important distinction between an allegation that remains untested at law.</p> <p>“For those reasons, regrettably and with gritted teeth, I have concluded that the trial date of 27 June towards which the parties have been carefully steering must be vacated.”</p> <p>Wilkinson had reportedly sought advice from DPP Shane Drumgold in 2021 to go over the evidence that she would present at trial, with a note from the meeting stating that Wilkinson had been given an opportunity to ask any questions she might have had. </p> <p>It was then that Wilkinson brought up her Logie nomination, though she reportedly noted that she didn’t believe she was in with a real chance of winning, as the show was being held by a ‘rival’ television network. </p> <p>As <em>news.com.au </em>reported, the DPP stopped Wilkinson from presenting her speech then and there, as he could neither approve nor offer her any advice regarding it, telling Wilkinson that “we are not speech editors.”</p> <p>“Notwithstanding that clear and appropriate warning, upon receiving the award, Ms Wilkinson gave a speech in which she openly referred to and praised the complainant in the present trial,” Justice McCallum said of the situation.</p> <p>“Unsurprisingly, the award, and the content of the speech have been the subject of further commentary.”</p> <p><em>Images: Getty</em></p>

<p>Tony Armstrong has shared his surprising career ambitions, candidly revealing he is eager to explore acting opportunities. </p> <p>The ABC presenter, formerly a player for the Sydney Swans, said that his Logie win in 2022 paved the way for him to explore new opportunities within media, and he is keen to try is hand at unexplored areas of entertainment. </p> <p>Speaking candidly in the first episode of the ABC’s new series <em>Great Australian Stuff</em>, he wanted to get into acting, and that the Logie had put him on the map for a shift, but for now, he remains on the desk on weekday mornings at ABC News Breakfast.</p> <p>Armstrong won the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent in 2022, reflecting on how his on-air charisma brought a new energy to ABC's otherwise reserved news coverage. </p> <p>“(A Logie) puts you in the mind of people who put shows together, for sure,” he told the <em><a href="https://www.smh.com.au/culture/tv-and-radio/it-wasn-t-on-the-bingo-card-is-acting-tony-armstrong-s-next-move-20230404-p5cy2l.html" target="_self">Sydney Morning Herald</a>. </em></p> <p>“I still can’t believe I’ve got one. It wasn’t on the bingo card."</p> <p>“It’s still weird to me, but I’m very humbled, and that was very much a vote for (ABC) News Breakfast, so my success is only as a result of the people who I’ve been lucky enough to work with.”</p> <p>During his time on ABC, Armstrong has been no stranger to a slew of racist online trolls, regularly using his platform to bring awareness to the ongoing issue of racism in Australia. </p> <p>In November last year, police were called over racist abuse sent to the TV personality, with Armstrong, a proud Barranbinya man, sharing a message sent to his work email address.</p> <p>The national broadcaster issued a statement at the time from ABC News Director Justin Stevens, who has said the network is exploring all options to “ensure the wellbeing of our people”.</p> <p>“This racist harassment is sickening. Lisa Wilkinson’s shock return

<p dir="ltr">A young woman has called out Lisa Wilkinson's privileged treatment from Channel Ten that has seen her quietly leave Australia and continue working in the US in the wake of her controversial Logies speech.</p> <p dir="ltr">Wilkinson came under fire after mentioning the details of a court case during her speech, resulting in the trial being rescheduled.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-a0cbbb59-7fff-84c1-535f-ba4441b3ca0f">The Project co-host secretly flew to Los Angeles, posting a photo outside the Hotel California several days ago, revealing she would be conducting a series of interviews while there.</span></p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Lisa Wilkinson responds to rumours she left The Project

<p dir="ltr">Lisa Wilkinson has responded to rumours that she left Australia for the US following her disastrous Logies speech which saw the Brittany Higgins case delayed. </p> <p dir="ltr"><em>The Project</em> co-host had not appeared on the show since mid-June and was not due to reappear up until August, The Australian’s Media Diary reported. </p> <p dir="ltr">However, Wilkinson has revealed she is in America for a series of interviews with musicians and actors. </p> <p dir="ltr">She shared an image on Instagram standing outside Hotel California in Palm Springs putting all rumours to rest. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Plenty of room at the Hotel California! I’m here in the US for some very special @theprojecttv interviews. Lisa’s lawyer’s hefty daily charge

<p dir="ltr">Lisa Wilkinson is being charged an eye-watering $11,000 a day for a high-profile lawyer following her speech at the Logies.</p> <p dir="ltr">Channel 10 has hired Australian Bar Association president Dr Matthew Collins QC for The Project host after her speech caused significant delays to the Brittany Higgins case, which was due to start this week.The case has now been postponed to October.</p> <p dir="ltr">Dr Collins is famous for winning high-profile cases - one of them being Rebel Wilson’s against Bauer Media, as well as YouTuber Jordan Shanks against former NSW deputy premier John Barilaro.</p> <p dir="ltr">The lawyer says it’s possible that Wilkinson could be charged with contempt of court, and admitted she should have known better.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It's certainly possible that the authorities will be looking at the speech that she made to the Logies and assessing that speech against the standard which applies in this branch of the law,” he said on Sunrise.</p> <p dir="ltr">“That standard is, did anything that she do have a tendency to interfere with the administration of justice?</p> <p dir="ltr">“You would hope that whenever the media is contemplating running a story about a serious criminal trial which is about to begin, they would be attune to the potential risks.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The mainstream media understands the risk inhering with talking about cases which are about to go to trial, particularly serious high-profile cases.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Wilkinson was already slammed for her comments last week by Chief Justice Lucy McCallum after rescheduling the case.</p> <p dir="ltr">It comes as Channel 10 warns publications of their criticism of Wilkinson and are not ruling out legal action for any harm that is caused.</p> <p dir="ltr">“This reporting is now causing significant harm and we ask these organisations to cease this harassment to allow Lisa the best opportunity to give her evidence in court and to enable the trial to go ahead in a fair and timely manner,” a spokesperson for the network said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We are closely monitoring all coverage of this issue and Lisa and Network 10 reserve their rights in respect of any future defamation claims.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Images: Nine/Seven</p>

Bert would have been beyond proud of you both xoxo.”</p> <p dir="ltr">On the night, Patti began her tribute before she even took to the stage, donning a silver necklace that read ‘Bert’.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I actually didn’t think that I was going to be able to do this tonight, it’s still very raw and I’ll never get over him not being here,” Patti told the crowd.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I have been his partner for 57 years, it is a long time,” she added to thunderous applause. “Thank you but I don’t need applause because I have loved every minute of those 57 years.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He did say to me when we got married, we will have a few ups and downs, but it will never be boring. And he was so right. Neighbours star furious over Logies snub

<p>Ryan Moloney – who has played Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi on Neighbours since 1995 – held nothing back as he blasted the treatment of the cast from the long-running show at the recent Logie Awards.</p> <p>Taking to 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin breakfasts’ show, Moloney ripped into the awards ceremony’s efforts in acknowledging Neighbours is about to come to an end.</p> <p>He argued those in the "In Memoriam" segment got a better run than they did.</p> <p>Moloney launched a hearty rant against the award show organisers for seating the team “behind the cameras” on Sunday night, and having former cast members Daniel MacPherson and Natalie Bassingthwaighte represent the cast on stage, rather than actors who have been part of the show for decades.</p> <p>“We turned up, and we did our mandatory three-hour talking to people on the red carpet... When we got in the room we ended up being split up and stuck on two different tables, it was horrible!” Moloney said on air.</p> <p>“Our table was actually even stuck behind the cameras, we couldn’t even see the stage... So we figured we weren’t going to get a gig then,” he added.</p> <p>Moloney said he found the package of snippets from the show that played during the ceremony “incredibly disappointing.”</p> <p>Elsewhere, he suggested having Bassingthwaighte and MacPherson represent the cast on stage was an affront to the show’s veteran stars, given they were both only part of the cast for four years.</p> <p>“Daniel and Nat are just absolutely gorgeous people and absolutely nothing against them, but we’ve got people who have been on TV for nearly 30 years each, and I think probably the least they could do is get us to say something … I mean we’re in the bloody Hall of Fame, that’s not how you treat a show that’s in the Hall of Fame. I mean good luck to the Logies really,” he fumed.</p> <p>His rampage didn’t stop there: “If it’s any indication, the In Memoriam section … I mean half the people in that have worked on Neighbours … They got a better guernsey than we did.”</p> <p>He said that actors from the show’s rival Channel 7 soap, Home and Away, even noticed the snub, approaching the table to offer their sympathy later in the night.</p> <p>“The cast of Home and Away came up afterwards and said how sorry they were that we got (snubbed),” he said.</p> <p>In March, it was announced to devastated fans that Neighbours was coming to an end. The soap drew around 1.5 million UK viewers daily and up to 170,000 metro viewers in Australia.</p> <p>The finale, which will feature special guest appearances from <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/another-neighbours-alum-to-return-for-final-episode" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Guy Pearce</a>, <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/kylie-minogue-and-jason-donovan-return-to-neighbours" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue</a>, is expected to air in August, truly marking the end of an era.</p>

"Pull ya head in": Lisa Wilkinson’s colleagues lash out

<p dir="ltr">Lisa Wilkinson’s colleagues have turned on her in the wake of the Brittany Higgins trial being delayed.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>The Project</em> host caused <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/finance/legal/serious-legal-fallout-of-lisa-wilkinson-s-logies-speech" target="_blank" rel="noopener">serious legal issues</a> for the alleged rape case against the former Liberal Staffer following her Logies speech. </p> <p dir="ltr">Chief Justice Lucy McCallum announced the case, which was due to begin next week, has been delayed due to Wilkinson’s speech. </p> <p dir="ltr">And now, Wilkinson’s <em>Channel 10</em> colleagues have turned on her and the result has been nothing but nasty. </p> <p dir="ltr">Beloved weatherman Tim Bailey called out Wilkinson in a now deleted tweet telling her to “pull ya head in”.  </p> <p dir="ltr">“Hey Lisa, pull ya head in. I know this might be difficult, because it is a very big head. If only she’d stuck to silly stories like the paparazzi who stalked her in Chapel Street. Serious legal fallout of Lisa Wilkinson's Logies speech

<p dir="ltr">The trial of the man accused of sexually assaulting Brittany Higgins inside Parliament House has been delayed as a result of Lisa Wilkinson’s Logie Awards speech.</p> <p dir="ltr">Bruce Lehrmann is accused of sexually assaulting Higgins in 2019 and was due to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court next week.</p> <p dir="ltr">He has pleaded not guilty over the alleged rape.</p> <p dir="ltr">However, that trial has now been delayed because of Wilkinson’s speech after she won a Logie for her reporting about Higgins’ allegations.</p> <p dir="ltr">Chief Justice Lucy McCallum told the court on Tuesday that because of Wilkinson’s speech, Lehrmann’s case was prejudged and he was entitled to a fair trial.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The case has accordingly attracted a level of attention in the media ... that while not unprecedented is certainly extreme,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Extensive media reporting of alleged criminal conduct is not mischievous in itself.</p> <p dir="ltr">“What is a potential mischief is media reporting of such issues in such a way ... it impacts the criminal case.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Lehrmann’s team then requested a temporary stay of court proceedings due to the publicity surrounding the case from the speech.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Unfortunately, however, the recent publicity (of the speech) does, in my view, change the landscape,’’ she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Because of its immediacy, its intensity and its capacity to obliterate the important distinction between an allegation that remains untested at law.</p> <p dir="ltr">“For those reasons, regrettably and with gritted teeth, I have concluded that the trial date of 27 June towards which the parties have been carefully steering must be vacated.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Justice McCallum slammed Wilkinson’s speech, who had already spoken to the Director of Public Prosecutions Shane Drumgold on June 15 to discuss the evidence she will present at the trial.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Notwithstanding that clear and appropriate warning, upon receiving the award, Ms Wilkinson gave a speech in which she openly referred to and praised the complainant in the present trial,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Unsurprisingly, the award, and the content of the speech, have been the subject of further commentary.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Wilkinson’s speech could be investigated and it is possible she may face legal consequences according to President of the Australian Bar Association Matthew Collin.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It’s certainly possible that the authorities will be looking at the speech that she made to the Logies and assessing that speech against the standard that applies in this branch of the law,” he said on Sunrise on Wednesday.</p> <p dir="ltr">“That standard is, did anything that she did have a tendency to interfere with the administration of justice?</p> <p dir="ltr">“You would hope that whenever the media is contemplating running a story about a serious criminal trial which is about to begin, they would be attuned to the potential risks.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The mainstream media understands the risk inherent with talking about cases which are about to go to trial, particularly serious high-profile cases.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So clearly this was ill-advised.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The concern is that potential members of the jury whose job is to apply the presumption of innocence and to focus on the evidence in the trial might be influenced by things they’ve been exposed to in the media and in social media.”</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Images: Instagram</em></p>
