Royals issue heartfelt statement after Bondi attack

<p>The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a heartfelt message to the victims and survivors of the deadly <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/family-of-bondi-killer-break-silence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stabbing attack</a> at Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday. </p> <p>William and Kate took to Instagram to share the statement, after six people were killed and 12 others injured following the violent attack. </p> <p>"We are shocked and saddened by the terrible events in Sydney earlier today," the royals wrote on Saturday. </p> <p>"Our thoughts are with all those affected, including the loved ones of those lost and the heroic emergency responders who risked their own lives to save others."</p> <p>Tributes have also poured in for the other victims, who were tragically killed in the attack. </p> <p>Dawn Singleton, 25, was <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/i-am-so-heartbroken-tributes-flow-for-bride-to-be-stabbing-victim" target="_blank" rel="noopener">planning her wedding </a>at the time of the stabbing, and was shopping for make-up before she was tragically killed by Joel Cauchi. </p> <p>“Dawn, I should be writing your wedding speech, but instead I sit here sobbing,” her friend Jade O’Connor wrote on Facebook.</p> <p>“This year you were meant to get married to the love of your life — I’m so heartbroken and (I) can’t believe this reality.”</p> <p>Ashlee Good, 38, died protecting her baby girl from Cauchi, after passing her injured 9-month-old to bystanders. </p> <p>Her family have said that they were "reeling from the terrible loss of Ashlee, a beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, all-round outstanding human and so much more".</p> <p>Faraz Tahir, 30, a security guard working at the shopping centre, reportedly started his first day shift at the centre on the day that he was murdered. </p> <p>“It’s very tragic news — this is something which you don’t expect at all,”  his friend Adnan Qadir told <em>Sunrise</em>. </p> <p>“It is hard for me to fathom he was with me 72 hours before the tragedy and then we lost him in such circumstances.”</p> <p>“He was a great guy — he keeps other people’s interests ahead of his own.</p> <p>“Had a lot of ambition for his future ... Just settling into his new country.</p> <p>“He was looking forward to a stable career, to make a family up here. Kate Middleton reveals cancer diagnosis in heartfelt message

<p>Catherine, Princess of Wales, has revealed her battle with cancer in a heartfelt video message. The British royal shared her diagnosis and the subsequent journey she's embarking upon with the unwavering support of her family, notably her husband, Prince William, the heir to the throne.</p> <p>The revelation comes after weeks of speculation swirling on social media regarding her health and whereabouts since her hospitalisation in January for undisclosed abdominal surgery. The 42-year-old princess, who had been absent from public view since Christmas, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from well-wishers.</p> <p>“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery," the Princess said. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.</p> <p>“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.</p> <p>“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment."</p> <p>The decision to delay the public announcement of her diagnosis was primarily motivated by a desire to shield her three young children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – from the tumult of media speculation and ensure they were informed in a manner suitable for their tender age.</p> <p>“Most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok," Kate explained.</p> <p>The timing of her announcement, coinciding with the end of the school term and the commencement of the royal family's Easter holiday, underscores the meticulous consideration afforded to every aspect of this deeply personal revelation.</p> <p><em>Image: Supplied</em></p>

Home and Away star’s heartfelt health confession

<p>Jordi Gordon marked her 39th birthday this week with a heartfelt Instagram post reflecting on her own health struggles. </p> <p>The former <em>Home and Away</em> star publicly admitted to over 200,000 followers that she has been struggling with substance abuse for a majority of her life.</p> <p>"I have battled substance abuse for the most part of my life, stepping into recovery at 24 but never being able to stay stopped," she captioned the video. </p> <p>"On April 7th 2022 I got sober and have stayed sober ever since, completely changing my life in ways I didn't think were possible," she continued. </p> <p>She then went on to thank her own personal heroes including her parents for the valuable life lessons they have taught her and her friends and family. </p> <p>She also thanked her ex-husband, former NRL star Braith Anasta, for giving her the gift of their "loving" and "fierce" nine-year-old daughter Aleeia. </p> <p>"I always wanted a big family, and I got one with my daughter Aleeia. She is unlike any human I have ever known, so loving, fierce, patient, wise, and curious," Gordon wrote.</p> <p>"I love being her teacher and student... "A forever love": Johnny Ruffo's girlfriend shares heartfelt tribute

Young girl who penned heartfelt letter to King Charles is floored by response

<p>An 11-year-old girl from New South Wales has captured hearts with her touching words and well-wishes for King Charles III. </p> <p>Maeve Malone, who lives in Willoughby with her family, wrote a letter to the monarch in September 2022 to offer her condolences on the loss of Charles’ late mother, Queen Elizabeth, and to let him know that she believes he will be a “fantastic king”.</p> <p>Maeve’s letter, which she shared with Ben Fordham on his 2GB series, opened with a quick introduction, before she launched into the heart of her message, writing that she was “really sorry to hear about your mum. I am 10 and in Year 4, Mum and Dad let me stay up to watch Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. </p> <p>“You were so brave on that sad day. I think you will be excellent at leading the commonwealth. I also believe you will be a fantastic king.” </p> <p>At the end of the page - one embellished with colourful images of purple flowers - Maeve shared another personal message for Charles, letting him know of their shared interest in botany when she said, “Mum told me you like gardening, me too! I hope the flowers in your new home are blossoming.”</p> <p>“I hope to visit London one day,” she concluded. “When I do, I will go past your home and think of you and your mum. </p> <p>“Best of luck with your new job.” </p> <p>After reading Maeve’s letter, radio host Fordham checked in with the young girl, asking her what had prompted her to put pen to paper and contact Charles in the first place. </p> <p>“I wrote it because I wanted him to know that I was sorry for Queen Elizabeth,” Maeve explained, “I really liked Queen Elizabeth, ‘cause she was a really good leader, and it was really sad for Charles to lose his mum.” </p> <p>When Fordham asked what Maeve had expected from her kind words, and whether or not she had anticipated a response, the 11 year old was quick to admit that she hadn’t expected one. </p> <p>But to her delight, she’d been wrong, with a letter arriving in the mail, addressed to her and signed by the monarch. </p> <p>“I got it out of the letter box, and when I got it … I started jumping with joy,” Maeve said. </p> <p>That letter - typed up with Charles’ signature at the bottom - read, “it was so very kind of you to send me such a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved mother. </p> <p>“Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow.” </p> <p>And while Maeve’s entire day might have been made with the kind reply, she still won’t be able to tune in for her new friend’s big day - he might have his coronation to attend, but Maeve is a busy girl, and has a party of her own to get to. </p> <p><em>Images: Ben Fordham Live / 2GB</em></p>

"An inspiration": Carrie Bickmore's heartfelt tribute to her mum

<p>Carrie Bickmore has shared a touching tribute to her hard-working mum to mark the first days of her retirement. </p> <p>The former host of <em>The Project</em> shared two sweet snaps of her mother Jennie Bickmore-Brand, who has now retired after working as a lecturer at Perth’s Curtin University. Dr Bickmore-Brand spent her career in education, getting her PhD in 1997.</p> <p>“My amazing mama has just retired (I think she’ll be back) after 50 years contribution to education,” Bickmore, 42, wrote in the post. </p> <p>“Mum you are a trailblazer, an inspiration, a shining star. You did it all while raising kids, living and loving hard and all with a soft touch and huge smile. “We only wish Dad was here to see it”: Kylie Gillies' heartfelt gift for her mum

<p>Kylie Gillies has shared a heartwarming video to her social media of the moment her mother received a very special gift from the family. </p> <p>As Kylie explained in her caption, where she paid tribute to the love her parents had shared over the course of their 57 year marriage, the story behind the gift was near as dear to them all as the present itself. </p> <p>In the clip, Kylie’s mother - Marg - can be seen sitting at a table in a luxurious jewellery store, with a box in front of her. She opens it to reveal a ring, and immediately turns to the camera, overwhelmed. </p> <p>“A story 50 years in the making,” Kylie wrote. “In the 1970’s my Dad gifted Mum a sapphire. A loose stone - from Inverell. It remain[ed] wrapped in a little brown envelope in Mum’s drawer for decades.</p> <p>“I recently asked her why? She said ‘well we’re not the sort of people to get jewellery made. And there were always other priorities I guess.’</p> <p>“I’m sure those other priorities were my sister and me. All those things that young girls need. And want! And Mum and Dad never put themselves first.</p> <p>“So with Dad’s recent passing our thoughts turned to that sapphire. Mum said Dad had always loved them and actually wanted Mum to have a sapphire engagement ring. That was 1963!</p> <p>We thought it was time to do something.”</p> <p>She started to wrap up her caption by thanking the House of K’dor for “turning that little stone into something big for our family”, and for the love that had gone into designing the meaningful gift, telling them “you were as excited as she was.”</p> <p>“We only wish Dad was here to see it too,” she said, in what was surely a sentiment echoed by the entire family, who Kylie gave individual mention to after declaring, “we love you Mum.” </p> <p>Kylie’s father - and Marg’s husband - passed away in 2021 at the age of 91. "Any tips?": Bruce Willis’ wife posts heartfelt plea

<p dir="ltr">Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis has shared an emotional plea after the actor’s <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/cruel-disease-bruce-willis-given-heartbreaking-new-diagnosis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">devastating diagnosis</a>.</p> <p dir="ltr">Emma took to Instagram to ask families of dementia sufferers for advice on how to help their loved ones navigate the world safely.</p> <p dir="ltr">“To other caregivers or dementia care specialists navigating this world…. Any tips or advice on how to get your loved ones out in the world safely?” she captioned the post.</p> <p dir="ltr">Emma started off the video by raising awareness about dementia and how stressful it is as a caregiver to help their loved ones navigate this illness.</p> <p dir="ltr">“If you are someone who is looking after someone who has dementia, you know how difficult and how stressful it can be, just to get them out into the world and navigate them safely - even just to get a cup of coffee,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">She also called out the photographers trying to get exclusive images and video footage of Bruce while he was out.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It’s clear there’s still a lot of education that needs to be put forth,” she said in the video as a PSA.</p> <p dir="ltr">Bruce, 67, was spotted out and about last week, for the first time since his family shared that had been <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/cruel-disease-bruce-willis-given-heartbreaking-new-diagnosis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD)</a>.</p> <p dir="ltr">“To the photographers and video people that are trying to get those exclusives of my husband out and about, just keep your space. I know this is your job, but maybe just keep your space.”</p> <p dir="ltr">“For the video people, please don’t be yelling at my husband asking him how he’s doing, whatever, the woohoo-ing, the yippee ki yay’s, just don’t do it.”</p> <p dir="ltr">“Give him the space. "Cherish life": Tears over Johnny Ruffo’s latest heartfelt advice

<p>Johnny Ruffo has shared his words of wisdom on living life to the fullest as he continues his brave fight against a terminal brain cancer diagnosis. </p> <p>The singer and former actor, best known for his time on <em>The X Factor</em> and <em>Home and Away</em>, was chatting to the hosts of the <em>Kicpod </em>podcast when he divulged his life philosophies. </p> <p>Johnny’s top tip? “Don’t sweat the small things”. </p> <p>“Cherish life,” he told fitness influencers Steph Claire Smith and Lauren Henshaw. “Don’t sweat the small things and make sure the last conversation you have with people that you love is a good one.”</p> <p>Expanding on that, Johnny explained that he never leaves a conversation with his partner, Tahnee Sims, on a negative note. </p> <p>“You know, I may have a seizure, or something might happen,” he said. “And I just want her to know that the last thing she spoke to me about was that I loved her.</p> <p>“Every time Tahnee and I leave one another... I always tell her I love her.”</p> <p>Johnny was first diagnosed in 2017, and revealed in 2022 that the cancer was terminal. The couple have been together since 2015, and Tahnee has been at his side throughout his ongoing treatment. Johnny has been no stranger to praise for his partner, and her continued devotion and bravery in the face of the fight against cancer. .</p> <p>Last year, Johnny spoke to <em>Now to Love</em>, where he declared that Tahnee was his “everything”. Throughout the interview, he stressed that they were a team in life and all that comes with it. </p> <p>"I'd be lost without her," he said. "She's just everything.</p> <p>"She comes home from work and she's probably so tired and just wants to have a break, and then she has me. She wants to try and make me smile.</p> <p>"I don't know how she does it. I really don't.”</p> <p><em>Kicpod</em> Lauren was brought to tears by Johnny’s tribute, and both agreed that he has a “beautiful outlook on life”.</p> <p>Johnny, who by all accounts lives by his own heartfelt advice, has spent the past few months with friends and loved ones, enjoying some of Australia’s stunning scenery. </p> <p>Over Christmas, the couple made their way back to Western Australia to see Johnny’s family, and to enjoy the sun on Rottnest Island. </p> <p>Last month, Johnny celebrated friend and former co-star Lynne McGranger’s 70th birthday in Sydney. <p>King Charles has issued a statement thanking the public for the outpouring of love and support since the death of Queen Elizabeth. </p> <p>The statement comes after the 10 days of public mourning, are drawing to a close ahead of the Queen's funeral on Monday night AEST. </p> <p>Thousands of mourners have passed through Westminster Hall during the lying in state period to pay their respects to Her Majesty, with King Charles sharing his appreciation. </p> <p>In the statement, King Charles said, "Over the last ten days, my wife and I have been so deeply touched by the many messages of condolence and support we have received from this country and across the world."</p> <p>"In London, Edinburgh, Hillsborough and Cardiff we were moved beyond measure by everyone who took the trouble to come and pay their respects to the lifelong service of my dear mother, the late Queen."</p> <p>"As we all prepare to say our last farewell, I wanted simply to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those countless people who have been such a support and comfort to my Family and myself in this time of grief."</p> <p>The queue to view the Queen's coffin has stretched to 24 hours, with people being asked to stop joining it or risk not making it into Westminster before the funeral commences. </p> <p>Up to 10,000 police have descended on London ahead of the funeral, along with world leaders and dignitaries from across the globe expected to attend to pay their respects to the late monarch. </p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Special Forces veteran delivers heartfelt plea over stolen puppy

<p>Special Forces veteran Luke Evans has launched an emotional appeal after his seven-week old puppy was stolen from his doggy daycare farm on Monday morning</p><p>The father-of-three set up the farm on NSW's Central Coast three years ago with the help of his wife following 11 years of service in the navy to help him cope with his PTSD. </p><p>The farm offers daycare for pets and also works to rehabilitate and find forever homes for rescue dogs. </p><p>The dogs, who were all secret inside at the time of the theft, began barking around 4am to alert the couple that something was wrong. </p><p>The navy veteran got up to check out the commotion, but didn't find out of the ordinary. </p><p>It wasn't the next morning that Luke realised one of their beautiful blue-eyed Australian Shepherd-husky cross litter pups was missing. </p><p>The puppy was taken from a seperate room where the litter was being kept away from the larger dogs during the night. </p><p></p><p>"This little male pup that has been taken is just 7 weeks old, incredibly cute, two bright blue eyes and perfect Blue Merle and White markings," the family wrote online.</p><p>"The little one is microchipped and the number has been reported as stolen."</p><p>"We sincerely hope that someone might make the right decision to hand him in somewhere. Or perhaps someone might recognise him and let the police know."</p><p>"We are heartbroken. Numb. Terribly deflated. So many emotions right now. Disappointed. Disbelief. Concerned. Upset. Angry. Lost," the post read. </p><p>The 37-year-old navy veteran suspects the thief had been watching his daycare's YouTube channel, where he shares updates on his animals and an insight into their life on the farm, in order to plan the daring heist.</p><p>Following the theft, the farm has been set up with extra security measures including multiple cameras and alarms to keep their animals safe.</p><p><em>Image credits: Facebook - Doggy Daycare Farm Trips </em></p>

"We're so connected": Barty's heartfelt tribute to tennis legend

<p dir="ltr">Following her second-round victory against Lucia Bronzetti on Wednesday, tennis superstar Ash Barty paid tribute to a fellow tennis icon and personal mentor of hers, Evonne Goolagong Cawley.</p> <p dir="ltr">After her smashing success, Barty spoke to retired tennis star Casey Dellacqua on the court, with Dellacqua asking Barty about her relationship with Goolagong Cawley, who was unable to attend the Open this year.</p> <p dir="ltr">Barty has previously spoken about how she idolises Goolagong Cawley - a fellow Aboriginal woman - and even paid tribute to her following her huge win at Wimbledon last year. Following her win, which came 41 years after Goolagong Cawley’s, she said, “I hope I made Evonne proud”. Barty was the first Australian woman to win a Wimbledon singles title since Goolagong Cawley’s win in 1980.</p> <p dir="ltr">On the court on Wednesday, Barty said of Goolagong Cawley, "She's an incredible human being. I'm extremely lucky to be able to call her a friend, I know she's only ever a phone call away.</p> <p dir="ltr">"The universe has worked in a way that we're so connected. We've got some special anniversaries that we share together, obviously we're connected through our heritage. She's an incredible woman and she's been able to guide so many of the indigenous youth coming up in the last however many years, but also her work off the court.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I'm privileged to know her. I love her to death."</p> <p dir="ltr">Goolagong Cawley, who was born in Griffith and grew up in Barellan, won the French Open singles and the Australian Open doubles when she was just 19, the latter alongside Margaret Court. She went on to win the women’s singles at Wimbledon in 1971 a year later, and in 1980 became the first mother to win Wimbledon in 66 years. She won 14 Grand Slam titles in all, and was named Australian of the Year in 1971. Olivia Newton-John gives heartfelt cancer update

<p><span>Olivia Newton-John has shared with fans a rare update on her ongoing battle with cancer.</span><br /><br /><span>The <em>Grease</em> superstar told </span><em>Closer</em><span> magazine this week she feels "very good" and attributes that to her husband, John Easterling, who is helping her manage the pain.</span><br /><br /><span>"There are a lot of herbs that I take," Newton-John told the UK magazine.</span><br /><br /><span>"And over the last 10 years, I've used cannabis. My husband makes me tinctures that help me immensely with pain, inflammation, sleep and anxiety. I feel very blessed.</span><br /><br /><span>"I'm very lucky to be married to a wonderful man who is a plant medicine man, and he has great knowledge.</span><br /><br /><span>“Now he's growing medicinal cannabis for me, and it just has been wonderful. It helps me in every area.”</span></p>

Angela Bishop posts heartfelt tribute to late husband

<div class="post_body_wrapper"> <div class="post_body"> <div class="body_text redactor-styles redactor-in"> <p>Former first lady Michelle Obama has urged Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to reconcile with the British royal family after the shocking Oprah tell-all interview last week.</p> <p>“My hope is that, when I think about what they’re going through, I think about the importance of family, and I just pray that there is forgiveness, and there is clarity and love and resolve at some point in time,” Obama told<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.accessonline.com/articles/michelle-obama-reacts-to-meghan-markle-prince-harrys-oprah-interview-i-just-pray-that-there-is-forgiveness" target="_blank">Access Hollywood</a>.</p> <p>“Because there’s nothing more important than family,” Obama said.</p> <p>Obama's statement comes after Meghan claimed that Prince Harry told her about a conversation between a family member and himself where there were "concerns" over Archie's skin tone when he was born.</p> <p>"There was a conversation with Harry about [Archie's skin colour] what that would mean," she said.</p> <p>"I think that would be very damaging to them... but those were conversations the family had with him. It was really hard to see those as compartmentalised conversations."</p> <p>Buckingham Palace quickly released a statement after the allegations were made in the interview on behalf of the Queen.</p> <p>The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," the statement reads.</p> <p>"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.</p> <p>"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."</p> </div> </div> </div>

Isla Fisher shares heartfelt post and rare throwback photo
