"Tears started rolling": First glimpse of Molly the magpie shared by carers

The first photo of Molly the magpie has been released by his carers, 43 days after he was removed from his adoptive family's home.

In March, Molly's adoptive family from Queensland were forced to surrender the bird after complaints that his owners don't hold a wildlife permit.

Molly the magpie has lived with Juliette Wells and Reece Mortensen and their two dogs Peggy and Ruby since 2020, when he - originally thought to be a she - fell out a nest in their backyard.

Ever since the family were forced to hand over the magpie, Premier Steven Miles said the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation was working to help them secure the permits needed to bring Molly back home.

While the permit application is in the works, the carers at the facility where Molly is currently being held have released a photo of the bird to ease the minds of his adoptive family.

Wells and Mortensen shared the photo to their Instagram, saying, “We have our first photo!”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Peggyandmolly (@peggyandmolly)

"This photo was taken by the carers of Molly (wherever he is) and sent us yesterday. Princess Diana’s brother gives rare glimpse into childhood life

Charles Spencer has posted a rare throwback photograph with his sister, Princess Diana, on to Twitter

The siblings were shot standing side by side, with a much taller Diana wrapping her arm around her brother.

Earl Spencer, 56, shared the sweet photo with no caption and royal fans swarmed the comment to praise the royal.

pic.twitter.com/lpZXrQNsid
— Charles Spencer (@cspencer1508) November 7, 2020

"Her legacy and influence remains and in fact gets stronger and stronger as years go by. It's unbelievable how much she is still loved," one Twitter user wrote.

"She showed the way, and she is dearly missed by charities. She could move mountains."

Another wrote: "Such a lovely photo! No one will ever replace Diana, she was unique, as your [funeral] speech at Westminster Abbey expressed so well.”

The photo has been shared following the Earl's public accusations that the BBC sent him a "piecemeal apology" for using fake documents to secure Diana's famous Panorama TV Interview 25 years ago.

The interview is what launched journalist Martin Bashir to fame, as it is where Diana famously said there were "three of us" in her marriage to Prince Charles – a reference to his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles.

Spencer has been vocal on Twitter about the ordeal.

1/2 Many people are, quite understandably, asking why I’ve waited till now to come forward with the truth about how the @BBCPanorama with my sister came about. While I knew that Martin Bashir used fake bank statements and other dishonesty to get my sister to do the interview,...
— Charles Spencer (@cspencer1508) November 8, 2020

"Many people are, quite understandably, asking why I've waited till now to come forward with the truth about how the @BBCPanorama with my sister came about," he wrote.

"While I knew that Martin Bashir used fake bank statements and other dishonesty to get my sister to do the interview … what I only found out 2 weeks ago, thanks to journalist Andy Webb's persistent use of the Freedom of Information Act, is that the BBC also knew. Not only knew about it, but that they covered it up."

The Sunday Times revealed in October that Bashir created fake bank statements in an orchestrated effort to convince Spencer and Princess Diana that staff were leaking information about her.

A 1996 BBC internal investigation said the documents had "no bearing" on the prospect of the interview, but Spencer accused the network of "sheer dishonesty".

A family friend of the family labelled Bashir "awful", and told The Sunday Times that the forged bank statements were key to the interview taking place.

"Without Spencer, Bashir wouldn't have got to her," they said

BBC Director-General Tim Davie has reportedly issued an apology to the Earl.

After new claims about these documents came to light the BBC released the following statement:

"Martin Bashir is seriously unwell so we are unable to put these questions to him. We would urge you to consider carefully the implications of running a story where the central figure concerned is unable to provide a right of reply.

"BBC records from the period indicate that Martin had explained to the BBC that the documents had been shown to Earl Spencer, and that they were not shown to the Princess of Wales. They indicate that Martin had met the Princess of Wales before the mocked-up documentation existed."

Bashir is reportedly battling COVID-19.

Hillary and Bill Clinton give rare glimpse inside their not so humble abode

Hillary Clinton has given Architectural Design a tour of the home she shares with husband Bill Clinton, which is a 510 square metre Neo-Georgian red brick house in Washington, D.C.

The house was built in 1951 and is called ‘Whitehaven’ because it sits on a street of the same name.

Hillary came across the house in 2000, which was the last year of her husband’s US presidency.

"It was an emotional reaction," she told the magazine.

"When I was elected to the Senate in 2000, I knew that I needed a place to live while we were in session during the year. So I began looking.

"I had an experience in this house, which was just emotional."

However, the house required extensive renovations according to the interior designer who worked with Hillary on the project from 2003 to 2006.

“The mandate was to bring more light and to create more physical space for sitting and relaxing,” says Rosemarie Howe, the interior designer who worked with Hillary on the project.

“We also wanted to open the house and all of its interior rooms to this beautiful back garden.”

Howe also shared her thoughts on the bathrooms and the kitchen.

“It was kind of this Ozzie and Harriet house and it had never been updated. The bathrooms were sort of '50s.

"The kitchen was functional but very outdated, too. The people who had lived there before were very tall, so counters and things were quite high.”

Renovating the house was a family affair for the Clintons as Hillary’s mother Dorothy Rodham helped her daughter as well as the interior designer.

“It was a joy working with my mom and Rosemarie,” said Hillary.

“Both my mother and I love colour, and you can see, we have a lot of colour in the house that came from our collaboration.”

Scroll through the gallery above to see inside Hillary and Bill Clinton's home.

Auction of Audrey Hepburn treasures reveals rare glimpse into star’s life

A collection of Audrey Hepburn treasures, including film scripts and dresses, went up for auction in London.

Hepburn’s son Luca Dotti told AFP that his mother kept all her treasures in the attic for sentimental reasons.

“My mother kept it in the attic, quite literally. My mother was not a collector but she kept every little bits and pieces for sentimental reasons,” he said.

Some of Hepburn’s luggage went for auction including a battered black-lacquered suitcase which is believed to have been used by the star when she arrived in London when she took up a ballet scholarship in 1948.

The working script for the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s which features Hepburn’s handwritten notes, also went under the hammer.

Designer dresses by Givenchy and Valentino were also sold but Hepburn’s son Sean Hepburn-Ferrer highlighted that few would be able to fit into these petite gowns.

The actresses’ family chose to keep a number of items like Hepburn’s collection of awards, including the Oscar she won for Roman Holiday.

Items such as her childhood family photos were too sentimental to sell.

“I’m particularly fond of the beginnings. Her life before becoming Audrey Hepburn,” Luca said.

However, many personal items were put up for auction including an artwork Hepburn painted while pregnant with Luca in 1969.

The sale also included her American cine camera, which she used to document life from the other side of the camera.

Christie’s director of private collections, Adrian Hume-Sayer, said the sale was “pretty extensive”.

“There’s lots of little personal things.”

Scroll through the gallery above to see Audrey Hepburn’s personal belongings.
