Fed up farmer blasts major supermarkets for price gouging

In a heartfelt plea captured in a viral video, Ross Marsolino, a Victorian farmer and owner of Natural Earth Produce, expressed his frustration with major supermarkets and their pricing strategies for fruits and vegetables.

Marsolino, who specialises in growing zucchinis, tomatoes and eggplants in Victoria's Goulburn Valley, said that the profit margins imposed by supermarkets are crippling farmers, adversely impacting consumers, and driving growers out of business.

“We’re going to walk away from 80 acres today,” Marsolino said in his video posted to social media. “We’re not retailing the right price to be able to keep the product moving and selling. Plain and simple. The supermarkets are making too much profit out of our crops. We can’t survive. As growers we can’t afford to pay the workers, 50 people are going to be out of the system looking for work.”

The crux of Marsolino's argument lies in the claim that supermarkets are engaging in price-gouging, purchasing produce from growers at a considerably lower price and then selling it at a steep markup. He highlighted the stark contrast between the $1.80 per kilo that supermarkets allegedly pay to farmers and the retail price of $4.99, stating that this disparity is unsustainable for growers.

The consequence, as Marsolino outlined, is a domino effect on the entire supply chain. Farmers, unable to cover their costs, are forced to reduce the quantity of product they sell, leading to both financial losses for growers and higher prices for consumers.

That is why, in his case, Marsolino is saying he is prepared to abandon his 80-acre zucchini crop, estimating the loss at a staggering $2 million. This decision, he said, is a result of the unsustainable economics of the industry.

Marsolino's argument goes beyond his personal struggle; he contends that the high retail prices set by supermarkets are ultimately detrimental to consumers and the agricultural industry as a whole. He believes that if prices were lowered to a more reasonable level, consumers would be more inclined to purchase the produce, resulting in increased sales for growers and a healthier industry overall.

The plea from Marsolino has also sparked a call for government intervention. He urged authorities to scrutinise the pricing practices of supermarkets, demanding transparency in their transactions with growers. Marsolino's desire is for someone to hold the major supermarket chains accountable for the prices they set and to ensure that they are fair and reasonable.

In response to Marsolino's claims, representatives from Woolworths and Coles defended their pricing structures. They argued that the prices paid to suppliers are influenced by various factors, including processing, transport, labour, packaging and market conditions. Both companies emphasised their commitment to fair pricing and their efforts to balance the interests of suppliers and consumers.

Marsolino's plea serves as a reminder of the delicate balance required to sustain both the agricultural sector and the affordability of fresh produce for consumers. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen whether there will be a shift towards a more equitable pricing structure that benefits all stakeholders in the industry.

Images: Instagram

Women's World Cup commentator blasted over "inane" motherhood call

The FIFA Women's World Cup kicked off with a bang on Thursday night, with the Matildas facing off against Ireland in the Sydney opener.

And while the match was a tense and ultimately thrilling affair – resulting in a 1-0 victory for Australia – Network 7 commentator David Basheer's statement following a crucial play drew instant attention online when he remarked on Matildas player Katrina Gorry's hard tackle.

“Certainly motherhood has not blunted her competitive instincts, that’s for sure," remarked Basheer. "She is one fighter for Australia.”

The comment sparked anger among some some viewers online, who found it "offensive" and "inane."

Several Twitter users raised questions about potential gender bias, wondering if similar comments are made about male players or fathers. Others asked for an end to stereotyping mothers based on their roles.

"Wonderful to be watching the women's soccer world cup game, but some unnecessary, inane (and offensive) commentary," one person said.

One woman asked the commentator: "An elite athlete at the foremost tournament of her sport and you're surprised she's competing to the best of her ability?"

"The commentator finds it appropriate to say: motherhood has not blunted her competitive instincts. ARE YOU SERIOUS? Welcome to 2023 mate," another said.

"Dear lord, I thought we were past this kind of ridiculous narrative from male commentators. Do better."

Another wrote: "Oh wow! Did the commentator just refer to 'motherhood' in the way that I think he did?"

A few people were quick to draw comparisons to male players, asking: "Do they say these things about fathers?"

"Never ever heard a male player's parental stays commented upon," another added.

"Has anyone heard a similar remark in relation to FATHERHOOD? It's an intriguing side effect of motherhood that seems to have been kept out of the medical journals," one person wrote.

Wonderful to be watching the women's soccer world cup game, but some unnecessary, inane (and offensive) commentary - 'Certainly motherhood has not blunted her competitive spirit' - by the male commentator on the Australia vs Ireland game tonight - FFS 🙄😤😡

— Lamilucy (@Lamilucy88) July 20, 2023

"Does motherhood naturally ruin your attacking instinct?" one man remarked.

"Maybe male commentators should sit this #WorldCup out?" another man suggested.

With both men and women engaged in the discussion, some called for a formal apology, while others simply urged commentators to be more mindful and sensitive in their commentary.

“Motherhood hasn’t blunted her competitive instincts”

Maybe male commentators should sit this #WorldCup out?

— Darren Levin (@darren_levin) July 20, 2023

Katrina Gorry, a 30-year-old midfielder, became a mother to daughter Harper in 2021 after undergoing IVF as a solo parent in Norway in 2020. “A little bit unfair”: Hard-working tradies blast age pension increase

A group of tired tradies have rallied against the “unfair” decision to increase the age of eligibility for the age pension.

The tradesmen, all in their 60s, simply said their bodies “can’t handle” working in manual labour until they’re 70, which may be in their future if the eligibility age continues to rise.

The age to qualify for the pension was raised from 66 years and six months to 67 on July 1st with the move impacting any Australian born after December 31st, 1956.

Experts predict the age could rise even further to 70 by the year 2050 with the news sparking backlash among hardworking Aussies.

One man, a concreter in his mid-60s named Steve, said working the manual labour job was already taking a toll on his body and that the new retirement age was “unfair” on those working physically demanding jobs.

“Now I'm starting to feel it more in my knees, I've got arthritis in my hands, I've had two back surgeries,” he told A Current Affair.

“It does seem a little bit unfair that you have to work all your life.”

Peter, who cuts down trees in the Gold Coast for a living, compared the raising of the pension age to the harsh realities of his job.

“It's just like climbing a tree,” he said. “The injuries are just climbing all the time, it's getting harder, worse, sorer all the time.”

He described what was happening as “very scary”.

“Unfortunately I thought 65 would be a nice time to retire and get on a pension but now we are talking 67,” he said.

“Is it going to go up to 68, 69, 70?”

Macquarie University Professor Hanlin Shang believes the pension age will need to rise to 70 or government spending will spiral out of control.

He and other researchers estimate that the retirement age will rise to 68 by 2030, 69 in 2036 and 70 by 2050.

“As Australians live longer than before, it presents a challenge to the government to fund retirees through a pension scheme,” Professor Shang said.

Despite these challenges, Peter said politicians don't understand the burden that working physical jobs has on older bodies.

“It would be nice to be a politician sitting on a nice comfortable chair all day in an air conditioned room or office,” he said.

“They need to come out and see what it's like to do some physical work. “Done with the vaccine”: Karl Stefanovic blasts fifth booster

Karl Stefanovic has once again sparked controversy after declaring he is “done with the vaccine.”

Karl shocked viewers after expressing concerns that the jab could cause “heart issues” as the Australian Technical Advisory Group (ATAGI) updated its vaccine recommendations.

According to the ATAGI, as of February 20, anyone aged 18 and over who has not had the COVID vaccine or has not contracted the virus in the past six months will be eligible to get another shot - opening up a fourth dose for Aussies aged 19-29 and a fifth dose for those 65 and over.

“As you know, I am not a glowing ambassador for more than two shots,” Stefanovic said.

The Today show host then questioned whether another dose would be able to fight new strains of the virus, stating he is aware of people “over the age of 60 who are still incredibly nervous about getting it."

“The other thing that I am concerned about, if I have another dose, is that I may get complications,” he said.

The host’s guest, medical expert Dr Nick Coatsway insisted Australians aged 60 and over “needn’t be” scared of the jab but added that the conceded boosters are only a temporary solution.

“Let’s understand the science, if you get a fifth dose your protection is enhanced for around about 8-12 weeks and then it returns after the fourth dose or the third dose,” Dr Coatsworth said.

The ATAGI has again emphasised the importance of Aussies who are already eligible, including people over 65, to get their booster in 2023 as they remain at high risk of severe disease and death from COVID.

Currently, there is no additional booster available to those 18 and below, with the exception of children aged 5-17 who are at high risk of developing a severe illness.

When Trevor Long stopped by the Today show, David Campbell promised it to be “the best thing that’s ever happened on this show.”

And while David himself may have had a few things to say afterwards - with his past mullet being exposed to the world - Trevor certainly had a lot to offer viewers, outlining a whole host of options for turning their old photographs into digital keepsakes.

“If you’re like me,” David began, “and I still have a lot of my old photos … I don’t trust clouds, I miss photos … and they’re all stored in our phones and it freaks me out.”

“Photos like this one, David?” Trevor asked, an old photo of David and his school friends - John and Glen - on display in his hands.

“That freaks everyone else out,” was David’s immediate response.

The image saw the three at what appeared to be a formal event, two of them even sporting waistcoats, but it was David’s remarkable haircut that caught their attention, and their amusement.

“That is a mullet, ladies and gentlemen,” Trevor declared, to Today co-host Sylvia Jeffreys’ laughter.

From there, Sylvia went on to explain that their goal was to “keep photos like that alive because we should never forget that mullet.”

And that’s where Trevor came in, noting that he had many photo albums at home, and that “you kind of think that you’re going to lose those memories.”

The solution, he believes, is in taking them to the digital sphere, where they can be kept ‘forever’.

First on his list of digitising options was an application called Google Photo Scan. He went on to demonstrate how all users need to do is “point the phone at the photo”, wait for the flash which they may find “a bit weird”, and for dots to appear “on each corner”.

Using David’s mullet throwback as his example, he waited for the picture to scan, and then revealed the results: a near-perfect replica on his phone that was “now Facebook shareable” and “also just something you can keep in your digital library”.

Next up was the most efficient - and most expensive at over $600 - of Trevor’s solutions, with Epson’s Fastfoto scanner. The photos were inserted in bulk into the machine, and deposited at the other end in rapid succession after enhancing and saving the images to his computer - quite unlike a scanner, though similar in process, where each photo must be manually attended to throughout the entire job. According to Trevor, the Epson device had the potential to do “a hundred a minute”.

Last but not least came the answer for those with an awful lot of old film negatives lying around. The Kodak Slide ‘n’ Scan, he demonstrated, required users to slide film through the device, with each image appearing on a small screen at the front. After pressing the button on top just once, the picture would be saved onto a memory card, ready to be moved wherever its owner desired.

“It’s a little bit of a manual process,” Trevor allowed, “but as you push it through [and] press the button, it saves it on a memory card, kind of like the memory card you have on your digital camera. Put it into your computer, and again, you choose what you do with your photos.”

And for those worried about the cost of some of the products he’d showcased? Trevor’s answer was simple: sell them.

From there there was only one concern left to address, as David was showing his mullet pic to the camera, with Trevor asking “can you grow that back?”

David, laughing, shot back, “I wish I could!”

Images: Nine

Bluey blasted over extravagantly “wealthy” home

A concerned parent has blasted the canine family in Bluey for living in a house that they deemed too wealthy.

The viewer said it is “discouraging” to see the animated family of dogs living in a home worth several millions of dollars, but also believes the dog parents’ humility in their riches has given them the freedom to be “such amazing parents”.

The show depicts the Heeler family of Bandit and Chilli and their two children Bluey and Bingo, with one passionate viewer pondering whether their parenting skills are due to the dogs being “millionaires”, sparking a debate online.

“Confession: it bothers me that the Heelers are wealthy,” the concerned parent began on Reddit.

“It’s been estimated that the Heeler home is worth at least $1-$2 million, if not more. It’s hard to say exactly because the floor plan changes to fit the needs of the story.”

“A few real estate articles say $4 million, but $1-2 million seems to be the most realistic answer.”

“Every once in a while, the thought creeps into my mind that the reason they are such amazing parents is because they are millionaires.”

The parent did clarify that they do believe the animated Heelers to be “fantastic people who live frugally and they don’t flaunt their money”.

“They live in a great neighbourhood, send their kids to fantastic schools, and their jobs seem to be very flexible so they spend a lot of time home with their kids.”

They concluded saying that “as a parent who isn’t wealthy, it’s a little discouraging”.

Fans were divided with the Reddit post, with some entertaining the parent’s theory, while others thought the children’s show was being “overanalysed”.

“They’re also talking dogs which I’ll never be,” one user pointed out.

“Please don’t compare yourself to a cartoon dog, especially one you only see for six-minute segments. Anyone can be an involved parent for seven minutes,” a second wrote.

“Dear god, it’s a cartoon. Are you also upset that SpongeBob lives in a two-story home by himself off a fry cook salary?” another said.

Another joked, “I’m getting really sick of explaining this over and over again. Their house is worth a lot of money NOW, but that’s only because the housing market in Brisbane has exploded over the last 10 years.”

"Trash show": The Project blasted over "hypocritical" apology

Former Project panellist Em Rusciano has taken aim at the show amid backlash over its airing of a controversial joke, accusing them of "throwing" a star "under the bus".

Reuben Kaye, who identifies as queer, was speaking about the hate he receives for his sexuality and for dressing up in drag, specifically from the Christian community.

“I love Jesus, I love any man who can get nailed for three days straight and come back for more,” Kaye said on the show, prompting a stunned reaction from host Waleed Aly and a chuckle from co-host Sarah Harris.

Harris and other members of the panel had a laugh, but it appeared that Waleed Aly was a bit taken aback.

Harris and Aly both apologised to viewers, but that didn’t stop the backlash, with some members of Australia’s Christian and Muslim communities planning to protest at Channel 10’s office over the joke.

The Project’s social media posts have also been swamped by hashtags such as #CancelTheProject and #BoycottTheProject, and channel 9 star Omar Slaimankhel, the 2022 winner of The Block, alongside his friend Oz’ Abu Malik, has emerged as one of the highest-profile critics.

Slaimankhel slammed the show on social media, particularly putting Harris on blast, accusing her of hypocrisy after laughing at the joke and then apologising afterwards.

He shared a screenshot of Harris and Aly’s apology on Instagram, with the caption, “She was p*ssing herself laughing and now wants to apologise”, and a second screenshot of Kaye on the program with the words “Trash TV. Trash show”.

Entertainment commentator Peter Ford, who is heard on radio nationwide, told news.com.au he was of two minds” about whether the joke was actually that offensive, but said the backlash came at a critical time when The Project was already receiving a great deal of hate.

“I’m of two minds to be honest – I don’t think the joke was incredibly offensive in my own personal view, but it seems that other people do think it was, and now it has become a big thing on social media, mainly on Twitter,” he said.

“At the moment the show really has a target on its back – people really want to go for it and jump on anything they can to somehow try and bring the show down.

“I suspect they’re spooked by all the sharks circling wanting to come after them and bring them down.”

Mr Ford pointed out that while panellists were seen laughing at the joke on air at the time, it was a natural reaction given the pressurised environment of TV life.

“It’s particularly a problem because they were seen to be laughing at the joke at the time, so you can’t then say the next night, ‘it was terrible, we’re so shocked’. But I understand that sometimes on air you hear a joke and think you have to laugh, otherwise you’re not doing your job, without having fully processed what was said,” he said.

Mr Ford went on to say there were far greater problems the programme is facing than the latest backlash, which comes just months after the exodus of Lisa Wilkinson, Carrie Bickmore, Peter Heliar, and comedian Tommy Little.

“Honestly, I don’t know how many people who were watching it on air at that time were shocked and offended … I think it’s unfortunate to have the hosts apologise on air, particularly if it’s not necessary to have done it – it seems there was no suggestion of advertisers pulling out, and no serious repercussions,” he added.

“If they have these kneejerk reactions whenever people get angry on Twitter, it’s going to be taking up a lot of time every night, because people will always find something – people love to get angry.

“I’m inclined to think if they’d not apologised, it may have worked in their favour to have something controversial, unplanned and potentially even offensive. Maybe that’s what people need to start thinking - maybe I’d better start watching The Project again.”

“They create a rod for their own back when they start to do apologies, unless it’s really vital, or they are truly sincere.”

Chris Smith has been fired by 2GB after his actions at the Sky News Christmas party saw female staffers come forward with allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

The radio and TV host is on a suspension from Sky News, as his now former colleague Ray Hadley condemned his behaviour and expressed his desire to never work with him again.

In terminating his employment, Nine's Managing Director of Radio, Tom Malone said, "Chris' behaviour represents a serious breach of his contract, and is not aligned with the values of 2GB."

He says the media company provided support to Smith in recent days, and will continue to offer that support as required.

His firing follows prominent broadcaster Ray Hadley delivering a searing judgement of Smith's drunken behaviour.

Hadley described Smith, 60, as "a disgraceful person" after he allegedly made lewd comments at the end of year party, reducing a female co-worker to tears.

Following the allegations of abuse, Chris Smith released a statement about his actions and apologised for making female colleagues feel uncomfortable.

In the statement released on Monday afternoon, Smith apologised for his behaviour and said the incidents at the party did not reflect his behaviour at work.

"I am beyond gutted and devastated to know I have upset my colleagues after our Christmas party," Smith said.

"I apologise profusely to the women I upset. That's not the man I am at work, ever, as they will all attest. They have been so supportive to me and do not deserve such drunken treatment."

Smith blamed the incident on bipolar disorder and alcohol addiction, saying, "I have a recurring problem with alcohol... it sends me manic."

"I am in a facility receiving professional help to deal conclusively with my abuse of alcohol and solve this once and for all, without qualification… it can and will be done," he said.

Nick Kyrgios blasts Ash Barty’s historic win

Nick Kyrgios has hit back at Ash Barty’s historic win of the Newcombe Medal for a record fifth time in a row.

The 26-year-old retired tennis player won the Newcombe Medal at the Australian Tennis Awards for her Australian Open success.

This, however, did not appear to sit right with fellow Aussie Kyrgios, who said she did not deserve the medal after having only played the Australian Open this year.

In an Instagram story, Kyrgios shared a photo with Barty and his achievements in the past year, clearly showing he achieved more.

He had the caption: "LOL. No respect at all. I don't give a f***."

The graphic showed that Barty had played only three months of 2022 in which she won two singles titles and one doubles crown, including 14 matches across the two formats.

Kyrgios on the other hand had one singles title and three doubles crowns, as well as 61 victories across the two disciplines.

Despite the huge difference in numbers, it would appear that Kyrgios played better than Barty but that is not the case.

Barty won a singles grand slam and Kyrgios simply did not after losing the Wimbledon singles decider to Novak Djokovic while Barty defeated Danielle Collins.

Images: Instagram

Kochie blasts online scammers using his identity

David "Kochie" Koch has blasted the government for an urgent response to the drastic rise in online scammers.

Speaking with the Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones on Sunrise, Kochie was fired up when he shared that his identity has been used online to scam people "for years".

Kochie predicted that Australians have lost over $4 billion to scammers in 2022 so far, with Jones saying that number is probably larger than first estimated.

A furious Kochie responded, "What are you going to do about it? Because look, scammers have been using my photo and dodgy quotes from me to scam people for years."

"They appear on Facebook, they appear on LinkedIn... and I can do nothing about it."

Recalling a recent issue with a scammer, Kochie continued, "I had a bloke on the weekend contact me through Facebook, abusing me because he'd lost $30,000 on a scam that used my picture and dodgy comments from me."

Assistant Treasurer Jones went on to say that the law currently doesn't allow for punishments of online media when it comes to scams, but the government is pushing to amend such legislation.

He said, "We need to drag the law into the 21st century... Social media platforms need to be accountable for the material they are publishing."

Kochie said that was "music to his ears", saying that "not only are people losing thousands of dollars, but it damages my reputation. I seem photo online saying things saying things I never said about bitcoin or whatever, and people lose money because they think it's me."

Assistant Treasurer Jones assured Kochie that the government will be cracking down on these "economic criminals at the source", with Kochie again saying, "It's just heart-breaking for our viewers who get sucked in by these sorts of things."

"This is crazy": Ben Fordham blasts gender-neutral terms at all-boys school

Ben Fordham has called out an all-boys private school that have encouraged teachers and students to use gender-inclusive terms.

The principal of St Bede's College in Melbourne said in a letter to staff this week that the school was looking to change the language it uses following updated Victoria Child Safe Standards.

The letter discouraged school staff from using terms such as "boy" and "young man" in an attempt to be more inclusive to non-binary students.

"Can I ask that we start to use gender neutral language in our communications where possible?" the letter read, reports The Herald Sun.

"I know it can be challenging when communicating with the parents of senior students and calling them 'children', so if anyone has a better gender neutral term than this, please let me know."

"The use of the term 'student' rather than 'young man' or 'boy' can easily be made. I'm yet to find an alternative for 'Beda Boy' (graduated students), and given the history of this term, we would need to think carefully on any changes here."

After the letter was made public, 2GB's Ben Fordham blasted the school policy saying it was political correctness gone too far.

"This is crazy. Cancel culture has hit this all boys school in Melbourne," he said.

The college confirmed "staff were asked to use gender neutral language where possible" to comply with new standards to ensure all students were included.

"There are, and will continue to be, boys, young men and 'Beda Boys' within our College community," a statement from the school read.

"At the forefront of our minds is, and will remain, the inclusion of all students at St Bede's College."

Image credits: Instagram / St Bede's College

"Let him do this job": Mother of Charlie Teo's "miracle girl" blasts surgery restrictions

The mother of Dr Charlie Teo's "miracle girl" has spoken out against the restrictions placed on the surgeon and how they will impact the lives of many families with sick kids.

In 2019, Milli became one of Dr Teo's most well-known patients after he successfully removed 98 per cent of a brain tumour that had been dubbed inoperable and incurable by other surgeons.

Although Milli tragically died in January 2021, her mother Monica said she feels “devastated” and “disappointed” over the restrictions placed on Dr Teo, saying it will greatly impact patients and their families who no longer have access to potentially lifesaving surgery.

Since August 2021, Dr Teo has been barred from operating in Australia under rules imposed by the Medical Council of NSW.

In order to operate, Dr Teo must have written approval from a second independent neurosurgeon with more than 20 years of specialist experience.

These conditions will remain in place until September 30, when they will be subject to review.

“Why? Just why? I wish they’d leave him alone and let him do this job. He helps people – that’s all he does,” Monica told news.com.au.

“I know the neurosurgeons in Australia think he’s a cowboy and think he takes things just that little bit extra … but that should be left to the patient to choose.”

Dr Teo has has had daily requests from desperate patients to operate, as Monica said it should be up the patients to have final say over their treatment, and it’s an opportunity she’s grateful that her daughter had.

“A neurosurgeon could go: ‘No, I’m not going to do it because in three months time it’s going to be back in and you’re going to be dead anyway’ but if someone wants to do it and live that three months, why aren’t they given that choice? Charlie gives you that choice,” she added.

“He doesn’t mince his words and he doesn’t give anyone false hope, he just gives them real hope.”

She also said the rules which have limited Dr Teo’s operating ability also “robbed” the “medical industry” and future research as well.

Since the neurosurgeon has been barred from operating in Australia, Dr Teo has continued teaching, lecturing and performing pro bono surgery internationally.

“I feel sorry for the people in Australia who want to be a neurosurgeon and aren’t able to learn from the best in the world.”

MasterChef judge Melissa Leong has called out senator Pauline Hanson’s controversial walk out of parliament during the Acknowledgement of Country.

Ms Hanson made headlines when she stormed out of parliament when Senate President Sue Lines acknowledged the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples as the traditional custodians of the Canberra area and paid respect to elders past and present during Wednesday’s sitting.

But before Senator Lines could finish the acknowledgement, the One Nation leader interrupted.

“No, I won’t,” she yelled, adding, “I never will.”

Ms Leong slammed Ms Hanson’s “ignorant and racist” move on Instagram saying we have a way to go, describing the senator as a hateful bigot and to “not come back”.

“A step forward and several back,” her post began.

“On a day we should only be cheering the first hijab-wearing woman giving her inaugural speech to Parliament, we are in many ways robbed of that full glory by another woman, this one an ugly-hearted bigot, who walked out of the Senate - during and because of- Acknowledgement of Country.

“This typifies where we are as a nation. We have come so far, yet we have so far to go. I am hopeful and yet so very angry all at once. The only comfort I have is knowing I'm not alone.

“Sending power, congratulations and support to @senator_fatima_payman. To the short-sighted hateful bigot, hope the door hit you on the way out. Feel free not to come back.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Melissa Leong | FOODERATI (@fooderati)

Following the storming out, Ms Hanson’s office sent out emails to their subscribers which says “One Nation believes that the practice of ‘acknowledgment of country’ perpetuates racial division in Australia”.

“We do not accept that acknowledgment of country is any sort of indigenous Australian tradition, given that at most it has only been in use for the past 25 years (and in Parliament only 12 years).

“One Nation believes this country belongs to all Australians equally, indigenous or otherwise.”

The email included a link to a survey asking people to share their thoughts on the Acknowledgement of Country and whether or not it should be used.

Images: Getty/MasterChef
