Jamie Oliver shares details about wife's "deeply scary" health condition

<p>Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has opened up about his wife’s “deeply scary” experience with long Covid, as the illness remains uncharted territory with fresh data still being uncovered.</p> <p>Jools Oliver has been fighting the illness for the past two years.</p> <p>“She’s had bad COVID and long COVID, so she’s been really affected by it, sadly,” Oliver, 47, shared.</p> <p>“She’s OK, but still not what she wants to be.”</p> <p>“It’s been two years. She finds it deeply scary.”</p> <p>Her condition has left doctors stumped, with long Covid affecting 10-20% of people with ongoing Covid symptoms, according to the World Health Organisation.</p> <p>The popular chef explained they had seen specialist medical professionals but have been unable to cure her symptoms as the condition is still being learnt about.</p> <p>“We’re all over Harley Street like a rash, but no one really knows anything,” Oliver went on, referring to the street in London, known for being home to a large amount of private medical specialists.</p> <p>Despite her condition, Oliver says his wife continues to remain positive and keep her spirits up. The couple share five children together and have been married for 22 years.</p> <p>Oliver's new cookbook is being released on September 1 and, of course, is dedicated to his wife Jools. </p> <p style="box-sizing: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-size: 14px; vertical-align: baseline; outline: none !important;"> </p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 540px; min-width: 326px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);" data-instgrm-captioned="" data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/tv/CftLf9LDs7P/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14"> <div style="padding: 16px;"> <div style="display: flex; flex-direction: row; align-items: center;"> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 50%; flex-grow: 0; height: 40px; margin-right: 14px; width: 40px;"> </div> <div style="display: flex; flex-direction: column; flex-grow: 1; justify-content: center;"> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 4px; flex-grow: 0; height: 14px; margin-bottom: 6px; width: 100px;"> </div> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 4px; flex-grow: 0; height: 14px; width: 60px;"> </div> </div> </div> <div style="padding: 19% 0;"> </div> <div style="display: block; height: 50px; margin: 0 auto 12px; width: 50px;"> </div> <div style="padding-top: 8px;"> <div style="color: #3897f0; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 550; line-height: 18px;">View this post on Instagram</div> </div> <div style="padding: 12.5% 0;"> </div> <div style="display: flex; flex-direction: row; margin-bottom: 14px; align-items: center;"> <div> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 50%; height: 12.5px; width: 12.5px; transform: translateX(0px) translateY(7px);"> </div> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; height: 12.5px; transform: rotate(-45deg) translateX(3px) translateY(1px); width: 12.5px; flex-grow: 0; margin-right: 14px; margin-left: 2px;"> </div> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 50%; height: 12.5px; width: 12.5px; transform: translateX(9px) translateY(-18px);"> </div> </div> <div style="margin-left: 8px;"> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 50%; flex-grow: 0; height: 20px; width: 20px;"> </div> <div style="width: 0; height: 0; border-top: 2px solid transparent; border-left: 6px solid #f4f4f4; border-bottom: 2px solid transparent; transform: translateX(16px) translateY(-4px) rotate(30deg);"> </div> </div> <div style="margin-left: auto;"> <div style="width: 0px; border-top: 8px solid #F4F4F4; border-right: 8px solid transparent; transform: translateY(16px);"> </div> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; flex-grow: 0; height: 12px; width: 16px; transform: translateY(-4px);"> </div> <div style="width: 0; height: 0; border-top: 8px solid #F4F4F4; border-left: 8px solid transparent; transform: translateY(-4px) translateX(8px);"> </div> </div> </div> <div style="display: flex; flex-direction: column; flex-grow: 1; justify-content: center; margin-bottom: 24px;"> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 4px; flex-grow: 0; height: 14px; margin-bottom: 6px; width: 224px;"> </div> <div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; border-radius: 4px; flex-grow: 0; height: 14px; width: 144px;"> </div> </div> <p style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 8px; overflow: hidden; padding: 8px 0 7px; text-align: center; text-overflow: ellipsis; white-space: nowrap;"><a style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;" href="https://www.instagram.com/tv/CftLf9LDs7P/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A post shared by Jamie Oliver (@jamieoliver)</a></p> </div> </blockquote> <p><em>Image: Instagram</em></p>

Jamie Oliver reveals the one thing in his marriage he has no control over

<p>Jamie Oliver may be one of the most renowned chefs in the world with food fanatics hanging onto his every word, but unfortunately for him, his reign ends in front of his wife Jools.</p> <p>Especially when it comes to deciding if the pair should have more children.</p> <p>Earlier in the year, Jools mentioned how she’s hoping for another child to join their family, which currently consists of Poppy, 16, Daisy, 15, Petal, nine, Buddy, eight, and River, two. But Jamie isn’t exactly keen on the idea.</p> <p><img style="width: 0px; height: 0px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7821924/jamiekids.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/0a86ffe42d2140668ab769144d4e2e01" /></p> <p>Speaking to <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/tv/jamie-oliver-jools-oliver-family-52374" target="_blank"><em>TV WEEK</em></a>, the 43-year-old said: “I don’t have much say in that department. I’ve tried to put the brakes on a few times and it didn’t work. Women are very powerful, and I’m not very good at restraint of control.</p> <p>“I can give you a strong answer, like, ‘Look, five is enough. I’m struggling already to get them in the car. I can’t even have a car anymore. I drive a f*ing bus. We don’t need anymore kids.’ But you would be under the idea that I have control of this situation. So, we’ll see.”</p> <p>After dating throughout their teenage years, Jamie and Jools tied the knot in 2000, as soon as Jamie’s TV career began to skyrocket. Now, 18 years later, Jools remains Jamie’s biggest supporter.</p> <p>And with the couple celebrating their 20th anniversary in two years’ time, another of Jamie’s biggest milestones is soon to reach 20 as well: His debut TV show, <em>The Naked Chef</em>.</p> <p>Looking back at the young chef, Jamie reminisces about everything <em>The Naked Chef </em>managed to accomplish.</p> <p>“I think I had really big lips before my face grew into them,” he says with a laugh.</p> <p>“I think my fashion sense was highly questionable. My haircuts have been extraordinarily challenged.”</p> <p>But while he pokes fun of himself, he also highlights the discussion the television show managed to start.</p> <p>“Twenty years ago, in Britain, cooking was for girls,” he said.</p> <p>“It was kind of a moment, <em>The Naked Chef</em>. It was about telling the boys that they’ve got to do their bit. But also, that cooking wasn’t for girls, that cooking could get you girls.”</p>

<p>It has been 16 years since celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and wife Jools welcomed their first child into the world and Jools didn’t let the celebration pass without writing a sweet tribute to her eldest.</p> <p>On Instagram, the 43-year-old gushed about her teenager for her special day.</p> <p>“Pops you are 16 and we couldn’t be prouder of you ❤️ best friend ❤️,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself, Poppy and her 14-year-old daughter Daisy.</p> <blockquote style="background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 658px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);" class="instagram-media"> <div style="padding: 8px;"> <div style="background: #F8F8F8; line-height: 0; margin-top: 40px; padding: 50.0% 0; text-align: center; width: 100%;"> <div style="background: url(data:image/png; base64,ivborw0kggoaaaansuheugaaacwaaaascamaaaapwqozaaaabgdbtueaalgpc/xhbqaaaafzukdcak7ohokaaaamuexurczmzpf399fx1+bm5mzy9amaaadisurbvdjlvzxbesmgces5/p8/t9furvcrmu73jwlzosgsiizurcjo/ad+eqjjb4hv8bft+idpqocx1wjosbfhh2xssxeiyn3uli/6mnree07uiwjev8ueowds88ly97kqytlijkktuybbruayvh5wohixmpi5we58ek028czwyuqdlkpg1bkb4nnm+veanfhqn1k4+gpt6ugqcvu2h2ovuif/gwufyy8owepdyzsa3avcqpvovvzzz2vtnn2wu8qzvjddeto90gsy9mvlqtgysy231mxry6i2ggqjrty0l8fxcxfcbbhwrsyyaaaaaelftksuqmcc); display: block; height: 44px; margin: 0 auto -44px; position: relative; top: -22px; width: 44px;"></div> </div> <p style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 8px; overflow: hidden; padding: 8px 0 7px; text-align: center; text-overflow: ellipsis; white-space: nowrap;"><a style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BgEQB7ZgzXi/" target="_blank">A post shared by Jools Oliver (@joolsoliver)</a> on Mar 8, 2018 at 6:57am PST</p> </div> </blockquote> <p>The former model and celebrity chef also have Petal, 8, Buddy, 7, and River who is 19 months old.</p> <p>While looking after her five kids, Jools also designs her children’s line Little Bird.</p> <blockquote style="background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 658px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);" class="instagram-media"> <div style="padding: 8px;"> <div style="background: #F8F8F8; line-height: 0; margin-top: 40px; padding: 50.0% 0; text-align: center; width: 100%;"> <div style="background: url(data:image/png; base64,ivborw0kggoaaaansuheugaaacwaaaascamaaaapwqozaaaabgdbtueaalgpc/xhbqaaaafzukdcak7ohokaaaamuexurczmzpf399fx1+bm5mzy9amaaadisurbvdjlvzxbesmgces5/p8/t9furvcrmu73jwlzosgsiizurcjo/ad+eqjjb4hv8bft+idpqocx1wjosbfhh2xssxeiyn3uli/6mnree07uiwjev8ueowds88ly97kqytlijkktuybbruayvh5wohixmpi5we58ek028czwyuqdlkpg1bkb4nnm+veanfhqn1k4+gpt6ugqcvu2h2ovuif/gwufyy8owepdyzsa3avcqpvovvzzz2vtnn2wu8qzvjddeto90gsy9mvlqtgysy231mxry6i2ggqjrty0l8fxcxfcbbhwrsyyaaaaaelftksuqmcc); display: block; height: 44px; margin: 0 auto -44px; position: relative; top: -22px; width: 44px;"></div> </div> <p style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 8px; overflow: hidden; padding: 8px 0 7px; text-align: center; text-overflow: ellipsis; white-space: nowrap;"><a style="color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BVeGTIZA_Iq/" target="_blank">A post shared by Jools Oliver (@joolsoliver)</a> on Jun 17, 2017 at 11:07pm PDT</p> </div> </blockquote> <p>In a recent interview, Jamie revealed that he wouldn’t wish his “lonely” job on anyone despite his £150million empire. </p> <p>Talking to Radio Times, Jamie admitted that he goes through the blues once a year because of the high-pressure demands of his career.</p> <p>“When you’re truly happy, I don’t think that you’re pushing yourself. It still does get to me about once a year. I do wobble. I’m pretty tough, but I’m human.” </p> <p>Jamie said his job, which is “to be at war with processed food and takeaways”, has its times when it is overwhelming.</p> <p>“The public only see one third of what I actually do for a job. The Press will beat the s**t out of me until they feel sorry for me. Then they’ll build me back up again.”</p> <p>Two years ago, Jamie became the second British author, following JK Rowling, to sell more than £150million worth of books. </p>

The reason why Jamie Oliver’s food empire has reached crisis point

<p>For the longest time, it seemed like Jamie Oliver could do no wrong. The culinary whiz had turned his popularity on TV into a global empire, putting his name to a range of restaurants, products and publications. But now, even as we’re mere months into 2018, reports suggest this empire is crumbling beneath the celebrity chef.</p> <p>London’s <em>Sunday Telegraph</em> has reported Oliver’s two-site Barbecoa chain is on the brink of collapse, following problems at his other chain, Jamie’s Italian, which announced earlier this year it would be closing 13 sites and begging for rent cuts at 11 others.</p> <p>While it’s a difficult time to be operating a restaurant anywhere, industry experts believe there are some problems facing Oliver’s undertakings that are entirely unique.</p> <p>Fairfax cites an unnamed expert who suggests Oliver might have been given bad advice, “"I think he has got people around him who have probably overleveraged his brand and been too ambitious at a time when they should have been more thoughtful.”</p> <p>The report also published comments from Peter Backman, whose consultancy business monitors the culinary industry, who suggested sky-high rents were also causing a problem.</p> <p>"It is noticeable the sites it is closing are in high-profile places such as Piccadilly and Bluewater shopping centre," he says.</p> <p>"This suggests the business is paying eye-watering rents and the custom is just not coming through."</p> <p>But Backman also suggests Oliver’s brand is not as strong as it once was. </p>

The one thing Jamie Oliver lets his kids do on Christmas

<p>Like many parents and grandparents, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver tries to shield his little ones from bad language as much as he can, but in this modern world of ours, that’s become increasingly difficult.</p> <p>So, he and Jools have come up with a rather unorthodox way of managing swearing in their household. On Christmas Day each year for just one minute, the parents-of-five give their kids (ranging from 16 months to 15 years old) free rein to dish out expletives as much as they want.</p> <p>“I love [swearing] but as a dad, I don’t like it,” he revealed in an interview on <em>The Russell Howard Hour</em>. “I say, ‘How do you know that?’ My boy makes them rhyme as well.”</p> <p>But as it turns out, that’s not the only thing banned in the Oliver household. Speaking on the Lifestyle News Hound podcast, Jamie said he’s banned his 14-year-old daughter Daisy from taking selfies.</p> <p>“I’m going to generalise massively here, but from my observation so far, at 13 to 14, the kind of pictures that girls are putting up, just from what I’ve seen, split off 50:50,” he explained. “[There’s] normal young girls, and then this weird hybrid of – dare I say it – quite porno sort of luscious kind of pouty lips, sort of pushing boobs out.”</p> <p>The Naked Chef also confessed that he doesn’t think he’s a great dad to his teen daughters, giving himself a “six out of 10”.</p> <p>“I don’t think I’m very good to be honest. And they’re girls, which is really hard and they’re not interested in much I’ve got to offer.”</p> <p>Tell us in the comments below, what do you think of Jamie and Jools’ family rules?</p>

Is Jamie Oliver set to quit?

<p>Jamie Oliver could be quitting after 18 years on television, with a new interview suggesting the celebrity chef is <a href="http://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/food-wine/2017/08/jamie-oliver-daughters-all-grown-up/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>contemplating walking away from it all</strong></span></a>.</p> <p>In an interview with <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/4931878/tv-chef-jamie-oliver-42-says-he-may-retire-to-spend-more-time-with-his-family/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>The Sun</strong></em></span></a>, the star of more than 30 cooking shows admitted he is looking at the prospect of retiring to spend more time with his children.</p> <p>“I have not told anyone this in the public domain,” Oliver said.</p> <p>“I am 42 now, I have got five kids and I am sort of actually looking at my days.</p> <p>“I try to be a good dad. Jamie Oliver in hot water over picture with son River

<p>When you’re a parent it can seem as though barely a moment passes where your hands aren’t full, so multi-tasking becomes an essential skill. But a picture of Jamie Oliver with his son River in the kitchen has landed the celebrity chef in hot water.  </p> <p>The image, which was shared on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/jamieoliver/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Oliver’s Facebook account</strong></span></a> last week, shows the father-of-five nursing his young son as he pan-fries some potatoes. </p> <p>  <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fjamieoliver%2Fposts%2F10154627167024807%3A0&amp;width=500" width="500" height="607" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></p> <p>The post drew an overwhelming response from Oliver’s fans, and while many were smitten by the adorable father/son snap, others labelled Oliver “irresponsible” for putting a young child so close to a potentially dangerous situation.</p> <p>“Did he do a risk assessment before this !!!!!!!” one commenter wrote.</p> <p>“So adorable. But PLEASE don't hold your baby near the stove,” said another.</p> <p>Plenty of fans leapt to the chef’s defence however.</p> <p>“I love that even celebrity chefs have to balance their babies on their hips to simply get a meal on the table.  #keepingitreal,” one mum wrote.</p> <p>“I think you have enough experience with kids…” commented another, “And u're (sic) a top chef! Baby River is in safe hands!”</p> <p>What’s your take? Do you think Oliver is well within his right to have a cute moment with his son? Or should he be putting River’s safety first and foremost?</p> <p><strong>Related links:</strong></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><a href="http://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/2016/11/jamie-oliver-reveals-familys-christmas-plans/"><strong>Jamie Oliver reveals family’s Christmas plans</strong></a></em></span></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><a href="http://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/2016/11/jamie-and-jools-oliver-share-adorable-new-pictures-of-baby-river/"><strong>Jamie and Jools Oliver share adorable new pictures of baby River</strong></a></em></span></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><a href="http://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/2016/12/fans-are-furious-with-jools-oliver-over-this-photo-with-river/"><strong>Fans are furious with Jools Oliver over this photo with baby River</strong></a></em></span></p>

It was merely a shout-out to the lovely girls who sent me the trousers nothing more I hardly ever put pictures up of myself and certainly not a 'selfie', she wrote.</p> <p>"I am confident with my body before, during and after pregnancy and totally get that things don't go back to normal for at least six months to a year, if at all and after five babies, I should know."</p> <p>Oliver continued: "As for bonding with my baby... I feel no need to address this it's ridiculous. So please next time if I irritate you just unfollow me it was just meant to be a nice pic of a pair of good trews."</p> <p>Family, giving birth, post-baby bodies - these are surely all topics that are private and do not warrant every man their dog sharing their two cents. People are angry at Jools Oliver for this post-baby photo

<p>Jools Oliver, who just had her fifth child with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, has been berated online over the latest photo she shared on Instagram.</p> <p>Jools gave birth to River Rocket Oliver on August 8 and both <strong><a href="http://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/2016/08/jamie-oliver-reveals-sons-full-name-and-shares-sweet-family-pictures/">proud parents have taken to Instagram to share some gorgeous snaps of the family’s latest addition</a>.</strong></p> <p>This week the new mum posted a picture of her in some patterned trousers, with the caption: “Finally ‘almost’ fitting into these gorgeous trousers.”</p> <p> <img width="438" height="438" src="http://d3lp4xedbqa8a5.cloudfront.net/s3/digital-cougar-assets/aww/2016/09/14/1473826672822_jOOLs-Oliver-ART-2.jpg?mode=max&amp;quality=80&amp;width=1280" alt="This was the Instagram snap that saw one disgruntled Jools Oliver fan post an nasty critique of the mother-of-five's parenting skills." class="gallery__slide-image" style="max-height: 100%; display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"/></p> <p>Her followers were quick to comments on the picture, accusing her of body-shaming.</p> <p>“I am currently pregnant with my 2nd baby,” one disgruntled fan said. “And every minute of every day I’m scrutinising my weight. Pictures like this DO NOT HELP!"</p> <p>The user added: “Shouldn’t you be more concerned with bonding with your child rather than how quickly you fit back into your jeans?”</p> <p>Jools, however, responded with grace, pointing out, “Honestly it’s about the trousers!!! I didn’t even think about the weight!!!”</p> <p>She added, “For god sake I still have heaps to lose… my T-shirt hides a lot."</p> <p>"The waist of the trousers is elasticated!!!! So prob would have fitted when I was 9 months pregs! As for bonding with my baby… I feel no need to address this ridiculousness.”</p> <p>Jools was also backed up by her mother in-law Sally Oliver who left a comment of support, saying that she felt “incensed” when she read some of the criticisms about her “lovely daughter-in-law”.</p> <p>Sally wrote: “To infer that she is not bonding with her new baby is beyond arrogant. She is the most wonderful mother.”</p> <p>Who do you think is right in this debate?
