Former Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has celebrated a major family milestone, announcing she has become a grandmother for the first time.
The 73-year-old revealed her daughter, Clancy McWaters, and son-in-law Luke welcomed fraternal twin daughters, Stevie Grace and Daisy Joy, on May 29.
“I became a Nanna last Friday,” Lynne proudly shared during a June 4 appearance on The Morning Show.
“Our beautiful daughter Clancy and her husband Luke gave birth to Stevie Grace and Daisy Joy… twin girls!”
Lynne said the arrival came as a surprise, with no history of twins in the family.
She told hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies the family was “over the moon” following the birth of the girls.
“Luke’s mum and dad Annette and Gary, and us, and everyone who knows… Clancy and Luke kept it out of social [media] for so long,” Lynne continued.
“And now it’s happened and Clancy and Luke gave me the go ahead this morning to share with you guys.”
The announcement was met with hugs and congratulations from the show’s hosts, who told the actress they were thrilled for her.
The happy news comes after Lynne previously spoke about her hopes of becoming a grandparent.
In 2024, while promoting her stage production The Grandparents Club, she admitted she was eagerly awaiting the next chapter for her family.
“Paul and I wait with bated breath,” Lynne told New Idea.
“Clancy and Luke have other fish to fry first, but I just want to be a grandparent before I lose my marbles!”
She also joked about encouraging the couple to start a family.
“I said to my daughter, ‘Come on, hurry up. We haven’t got all day. What do you think honeymoons are for? They’re not for fun and games – get on with it!’”
Lynne had also revealed in a 2023 interview that she initially thought her daughter was announcing a pregnancy when she called with some important news.
“I remember she FaceTimed me and said, ‘So we’ve got a bit of news’,” Lynne told 7NEWS.
“I thought she was pregnant, which I wouldn’t have minded,” the actress continued. “She saw the look on my face and went, ‘No mum I’m not pregnant but…’ and she lifted up her finger with the engagement ring on it.”
The arrival of Stevie Grace and Daisy Joy marks a new chapter for the beloved actress, who spent almost 33 years on Home and Away and recently appeared on reality series SHARK!.
