Chris Hemsworth may know his way around a hammer, but it appears his 14-year-old daughter India is the Hemsworth you want around when there’s a bucking bull involved.

The Aussie actor has shared his delight after India Rose Hemsworth won a bull-riding competition in which she was the only girl taking part – staying aboard the decidedly uncooperative animal for around nine seconds.

Hemsworth, 43, proudly shared footage of his daughter’s impressive effort on social media, declaring: “Just wanna say my daughter is a savage.”

“Only girl in the comp and took home the win. proud moment,” he added.

And if India needed any last-minute advice before climbing aboard, her Hollywood action-star dad was naturally on hand to provide it.

Unfortunately, he didn’t appear to know the rules.

In a second clip, Hemsworth walked alongside his daughter before the competition and introduced her as a “champion bull rider”, before asking whether she was going to hang on for seven seconds.

India immediately corrected him, explaining she actually needed to stay aboard for eight.

“Eight seconds, what do I know?” Hemsworth joked.

Quite. Stick to saving Asgard, Dad.

India went one better, hanging on for about nine seconds as the bull bucked around the arena before eventually sending her flying. The teenager quickly got back to her feet – and her effort was enough to secure the win.

Hemsworth’s famous friends were suitably impressed, with fellow action star Jason Momoa responding, “Bro insane”, while Australian surfing great Mick Fanning wrote: “What a weapon!! Let’s go”. Rebecca Judd, Lily James, Scott Eastwood and Olympic snowboarder Torah Bright were also among those applauding India’s performance.

Plenty of fans also enjoyed seeing one of Hollywood’s biggest stars reduced to the familiar role of embarrassing dad.

“What a little legend. Imagine being Chris Hemsworth and still not being cool enough for your teenage daughter, relatable,” one follower wrote.

Another simply enjoyed the “embarrassing dad moment”.

India is the eldest of Hemsworth’s three children with wife Elsa Pataky, with the couple also sharing 12-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan.

And apparently fearlessness runs in the family.

Hemsworth has previously shared footage of India tearing around on a dirt bike and launching herself over jumps, while she has also accompanied her mum on a horseback adventure through Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Not everyone celebrated the latest achievement, however, with some followers raising concerns about animal welfare and criticising bull riding as entertainment.

But as far as one extremely proud dad was concerned, there was only one result that mattered.

Thor may still have the hammer. But India has the bragging rights.
