Celebrity chef George Calombaris was hospitalised over the weekend due to an eye injury.
The MasterChef host took to Instagram to share a photo of himself wearing an eye patch, as he revealed that he had to take a trip to the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear hospital on Sunday.
“A massive thank you to the amazing eye and ear hospital. The team are legends,” he wrote.
Despite spending most of his time in the kitchen, the 41-year-old sustained the injury during a game of squash.
“A huge lesson for me today: wear protective glasses when playing squash.”
The incident comes shortly after Calombaris’ announced that he will be shutting down his flagship restaurant The Press Club on Melbourne’s Flinders Street after a long 12 years.
“If I said I wasn’t emotional or that I’m not sad about it, I would be lying,” he told the Herald Sun.
“But you know what, it’s OK. Sometimes good things have to come to an end.”
