RecipeTin Eats founder Nagi Maehashi has shared a heartwarming update, months after losing her beloved Golden Retriever, Dozer.
The beloved food blogger and cookbook author has welcomed her new “chief taste tester”, an 11-week-old Golden Retriever named Jaffle.
In a blog post on her website, Maehashi said she didn’t expect to get a new dog so soon after losing Dozer, but found out that a friend of Dozer’s had a litter of pups while she “was hiding from the world in these recent months” and one “chunky chunderbum of a boy destined to be big and gold” had stolen her heart.
“Just like Dozer,” Maehashi wrote.
“I picked him up 48 hours ago and he’s already managed to completely wrap me around his chunky little paw. No surprises there.”
Not only was Dozer her companion, he was also part of the brand, featured across her website and cookbooks, and even helped her taste test some of her creations.
“I’ve only had him for three days, but from the moment I picked him up, he brought instant happiness back into my life,” Nagi wrote.
While she said she missed Dozer every day, she now wants to pass on the “baton to the next generation”. Nagi also noted that she has “Dozer’s nod of approval from the Big Sky Kitchen” to pass on the batton to his adorable successor.
The 11-week-old pup is already settling into his role, preferring cheese to kale and learning important lessons like not stealing food from the pantry or counter.
“I am very happy to report that Jaffle is showing great promise for his future role as Chief Taste Tester of RecipeTin,” she wrote.
