Russell Crowe has opened up about his love life in a recent candid interview with 60 Minutes’ Karl Stefanovic.
The 61-year-old actor shared an honest confession about whether he would be tying the knot with his 33-year-old girlfriend Britney Theriot any time soon.
“All these reports keep coming out saying that Britney and I are engaged and I’m going to get married again. No, we are very very good friends and we have a wonderful relationship,” the Gladiator star shared.
“My life is so joyous and happy at the moment. Why would I ruin that with a wedding? Why would I go through [that]?
“I’ve been married once, you know, I know how it can go and where it can go. So, I don’t need to go to that place. Where’s the romance? Where’s the romance in you?”
Prior to his relationship with Theriot, the actor was married to Aussie actress and singer Danielle Spencer. Their marriage ended in 2012, after nine years together, they share two sons.
Crowe admitted that he doesn’t mind his current status with Theriot, and enjoys simply being someone’s “boyfriend”, especially with how busy his life his.
“Having that slight thing that means you got to keep respecting each other, you know, and waking up with a smile … and we do,” he admits.
“Something which is fascinating for me … we do everything together. We’re very happy. It’s a very very positive life. But no, I’m not going to get married again. Doing it once is cool. Great. But I don’t want to do it again.”
His candid admission received a lot of praise from fans who shared their comments on Youtube.
“Not everyone needs to be married. Always love yourself. Great actor,” one wrote.
“He is so right on the relationship part,” another added.
“I get why Russell won’t marry again. There’s a certain disadvantage to wealth and fame with regards to marriage. To go through a divorce is bad enough, but to go through it so publicly, along with all of the private details being in the open, is just too much!” another added.
