Actor Kelsey Grammer has announced the arrival of his eighth child, a baby boy named Christopher, with wife Kayte Walsh.
The Frasier star shared the news during Tuesday’s Pod Meets World podcast, telling hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong that the baby had only just arrived.
“It was like three days ago,” he said.
“Christopher that’s just joined the family.”
This marks Grammer’s fourth child with Walsh.
The Cheers actor, 70, first became a father in 1983 when he welcomed daughter Spencer, now 43, with his first wife, Doreen Alderman. After their 1990 divorce, Grammer had another daughter, Greer, now 33, with then-girlfriend Barrie Buckner.
The Emmy Award winner was briefly married to Leigh-Anne Csuhany before marrying Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer, 56.
The former couple share two children – daughter Mason, 23, and son Jude, 20 – and have co-parented since their 2011 divorce.
Grammer had an affair with Walsh, 46, while he was still married to Camille, later tying the knot in February 2011 in New York City.
The couple share three other children – daughter Faith, 13, and sons Gabriel, 11, and James, 8 – born in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
News of the latest addition to the family surfaced in June, when the couple were photographed in London, with Walsh’s baby bump visible beneath a navy dress and tan cardigan.
At the time, a source told the Daily Mail that Grammer was “thrilled” about the pregnancy.
“He’s been incredibly supportive of Kayte throughout this pregnancy, which, though unexpected, has reignited a spark in their marriage that they both needed,” the insider said.
The source added that Grammer intended to embrace “the hands-on parenting he missed in the past” while at the height of his career.
In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, the Tony Award winner reflected on how his demanding work schedule had previously strained his family life, saying he was grateful for the chance to “kinda try it again” with Walsh.
“[That’s] the beauty of being an older dad,” he said at the time, describing the experience as a “real gift.”
