Sunrise viewers were treated to a double dose of sunshine on Wednesday morning when beloved weatherman Sam Mac shared some heartwarming personal news live on air: he’s set to become a dad for the third time.
The ever-energetic presenter, best known for his lively cross-country weather crosses on Sunrise, surprised his co-hosts and viewers by revealing that he and partner Rebecca James are expecting baby number three.
Beaming from ear to ear, Sam made the announcement during his regular weather segment, joking that he’s been practising forecasting “sleepless nights with a 100 per cent chance of nappies”. The studio erupted in cheers as his colleagues rushed to congratulate him, with the feel-good moment quickly becoming a highlight of the morning broadcast.
Sam, who has openly embraced fatherhood in recent years, said their growing family is “over the moon” about the new arrival. “We feel incredibly lucky,” he told viewers, adding that their two children are already excited about becoming big siblings.
Social media lit up within minutes of the announcement, with fans flooding the show’s pages with congratulatory messages. Many praised Sam for sharing the joyful milestone live, saying it perfectly captured the warmth and spontaneity that have made him a household favourite.
“Baby Mac #3 coming this July 🤍” Mac wrote on his own Instagram account. “The negotiations involved to get a 3 year old to appear in a photo…Wowsers 😵💫 You’ll notice a bribery cookie, we had a bubble machine, I think at one point I even promised Margot a Pony 🙃 But we got there! Bec is doing so great & Mabel is super excited to get her turn at being a big sister! Bring it on 🤍”
