Former NRL star Todd Carney and his wife Susie Bradley have welcomed their second son, and revealed his unique name.

The couple announced their baby joy on social media on Monday, alongside photos with their newborn.

“The most magical moments – the ones you wish you could hold onto and relive forever – yesterday was one of those days,” they wrote on Instagram.

“The moment we held you, the rest of the world simply melted away.

“️Our second son “King Daryl Carney” born February 22, 2026 at 4.50pm on the Gold Coast.”

They then went on to explain the meaning behind their unique name choice, saying that King is a name often associated with strength, confidence and leadership.

“May you always stand tall in who you are, lead with love, and know how deeply you are cherished.”

“You, along with your sister and brother, are our entire world, little King. There won’t be a single day when we aren’t endlessly thankful to have been blessed with you all. xxxx.”

Friends took to the comments to congratulate the couple, with former NRL player Mitchell Pearce commenting: “Legends congrats”, while Gold Coast Titans star AJ Brimson wrote: “The man! Congrats xx.”

Although most of the comments were positive, some fans shared their concern over whether the name King can be legally registered in Australia.

“Hey beautiful, I don’t want to ruin this beautiful moment but is King his first name? When you file to register him at birth, if you put his name as King, they won’t allow it,” one person commented.

“Congratulations beautiful lady!! Be sure to check that Birth deaths and marriages will allow you to legally name him King though! It is on the restricted baby name list. Xx,” another added.

“Congratulations, he is beautiful – I don’t actually think children are allowed to be called King though,” another said.

According to Australia’s Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, names using an official title or rank including King, Lady, Father, Prince, Sir or Admiral are prohibited.

One commenter offered a potential solution, writing: “If they go to refuse, maybe they could go with Kingston to get approved that way.”

Carney and Bradley tied the knot on the Gold Coast in January 2025 after dating for a few years.

In March 2021, the couple welcomed their first son together, Lion Daryl Carney.

Carney is also the step father to Bradley’s daughter Baby.
