As more Aussies over the age of 60 choose to go on overseas holidays, a new study has revealed the top destinations for older travellers.

Travel insurance provider AllClear has ranked the best cities in the world for senior travellers by analysing more than 175 global destinations on factors like walkability, accessibility, public transport, healthcare access, and safety.

According to the study, 70 per cent of people aged over 50 planned to travel last year, up by five per cent from 65 in 2024.

Valencia, Spain topped the list with the city ranked highly for all the factors, it’s rich culture and laid-back coastal vibe.

Other European cities came in close, with The Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands ranking second, third and fourth, for their flat and walkable city centres and reliable public transportation.

Copenhagen in Denmark came in fifth, known for a good city for multi-generational travel with plenty of free public parks, galleries and waterways to explore.

Three Aussie cities also made the list, with Perth, Sydney and Adelaide coming in 14th, 17th and 20th place respectively.

Another travel company, Bunnik Tours recently revealed that they have seen a rise in bookings from older travellers, with baby boomers looking for more authentic and immersive experiences while travelling, not just sightseeing or large tour groups.
