AFL star Marcus Bontempelli and wife Neila have announced they are expecting their first child.
The Western Bulldogs player shared a clip of the moment they found out about their baby’s gender, just a few months after the couple tied the knot in October 2025 at a luxury ranch in Napa Valley, California.
A video filmed at home showed the couple cutting a cake by the pool to reveal they are expecting a girl.
Friends and fellow Bulldogs stars were quick to congratulate the couple on their growing family.
“Yay!!! Congratulations guys. Fab news x,” Channel 7’s Abbey Holmes said.
“So happy for you both!” the official Western Bulldogs account added.
Carlton captain Patrick Cripps, Bontempelli’s teammate in this weekend’s State of Origin revival, wrote: “Congrats guys.”
Lexi Lobb, the wife of Bulldogs defender Rory, also shared her congratulations alongside others including Bob Murphy, Mitch Wallis and Lindsay Gilbee.
Bontempelli and Neila first met in 2021 after the AFL Grand Final in WA.
“It was a bit of a silver lining after the loss as I was a bit down and out on myself,” Bontempelli told Triple M on Monday, referring to the Bulldogs’ grand final defeat to Melbourne at the time.
“I was pretty busted up and broken, she put me back together, which was great.”
Bontempelli proposed in Italy during the 2024 off-season, with the couple having their bucks and hens parties in Las Vegas before their wedding.
