Samantha Armytage has revealed the real reason behind her highly anticipated return to television, calling her new hosting gig on The Golden Bachelor “a fresh start.”
The presenter said stepping into the role was an easy decision.
“I was talking to Channel 9 and they said ‘what do you think?’ and I thought, ‘great, this is interesting and this is a really great, fresh start for me too,'” Sam shared, in an unseen video for the network.
After its success in the United States, The Golden Bachelor is now coming to Australia, offering a heart-warming look at love in the golden years.
The show follows Golden Bachelor Bear as he embarks on a journey to find a soulmate, with Armytage guiding him along the way.
“I think ultimately there’s a lot of hope in this show and that’s what drew me to it, that’s what I like and I think that’s what we want to bring to people,” she said, adding that she “grabbed the opportunity with both hands.”
”We’ve never seen anything like this, so it was a no brainer for me to jump on board with this,” she added.
Speaking to Today hosts Sarah Abo and Karl Stefanovic, the former Sunrise host teased that audiences can expect some surprising moments.
“These 20 women are quite spectacular, they’re very successful and so funny and they’re boomer so they’re cashed up,” she joked.
In another behind-the-scenes clip on The Golden Bachelor, Sam explained what makes it different from other dating shows.
“They have amazing stories to tell and they’ve really lived some experiences,” she said.
“Some of them have children and grandchildren so they know what life’s about and they know what they want now and there’s a real power in that.
“There’s quite a few differences with this show, so it’s very exciting.”
