Robert Irwin is reportedly in talks for a reality television deal in the United States, following his rising popularity on Dancing With The Stars.
Multiple reports suggest the Irwin family have signed on to star in their own reality show, with sources saying “it’s pretty much a done deal.”
“Hollywood is going absolutely gaga for the Irwins right now,” a source told New Idea magazine.
“Robert is getting so much attention on Dancing with the Stars and that’s created this surge of interest in everything to do with the family.”
Robert’s mum Terri, sister Bindi, and her family have recently relocated to Los Angeles to support him on the show.
“The whole family, including Terri, is the dream package,” the source added. “They are all so photogenic and the American audience is fascinated by them and their unorthodox life.”
Robert made a strong debut on DWTS with a high-energy performance in full safari gear, earning the highest score of the night and quickly becoming a fan favourite to win the competition.
“Everyone is saying they’d be perfect for a reality show,” an insider told Star Magazine, noting the surge in interest surrounding the Irwin family.
Another factor driving the potential deal is the financial situation at Australia Zoo, which sources say has been “under huge financial strain since the pandemic.”
“A show like this and all the publicity could put a lot of money in the pot and knowing Bindi and her passion for the zoo that is going to be very appealing,” the source told New Idea.
