Axed 2Day FM hosts Grant Denyer, Ash London and Ed Kavalee have suffered a final blow as their breakfast show was revealed to have plummeted to its worst ratings result since January 2015 at its conclusion.

In the latest round of radio ratings released on Tuesday, 2Day FM’s audience share in Sydney dropped to 2.4 per cent, down from 3.1 per cent in the previous survey. This was the station’s lowest result since hosts Maz Compton and Dan Debuf hit the same numbers in January 2015.

Meanwhile, competitors Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson saw their Kiis FM show rise by 0.1 percentage point to 11 per cent, making it the number one breakfast program in Sydney. Jonesy & Amanda on WSFM followed in the second spot with 8.2 per cent, while NOVA’s Fitzy and Wippa came in third with 7.5 per cent.

The radio ratings survey covered May 26 to June 29 and July 14 to August 17, with the 2Day FM hosts broadcasting their last episode on August 16.

Earlier this month, Hit Network boss Gemma Fordham said Grant, Ed & Ash would be replaced with an all-music program led by Jamie Angel. 2Day FM’s Music for Breakfast started on August 19.

Fordham said 2Day FM would shift away from its strategy of tapping on-air personalities for its breakfast show. “In this market, we’re not going to win if we just keep putting in talent; we won’t win that battle,” she said of the station’s breakfast rivals 2GB’s Alan Jones, KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O, and  Jonesy & Amanda.

“So they can play in that space; we’re going to play in another space.”

Fordham confirmed that the three hosts will remain in the network, with London continuing to host Ash London Live, Kavalee filling in for Kate Langbroek on Hughesy & Kate, and Denyer “making appearances around the Network”.
