Radio host Ray Hadley was forced off air during his show after suffering a medical condition.
The 64-year-old was an hour into his 2GB show The Ray Hadley Morning Show on Monday morning when he told listeners before an ad break that he had to leave to seek medical help.
“I’ve been battling a problem since last night. It’s a problem that I encounter every couple of years. It’s called diverticulitis,” Hadley said.
“I’m about to have, I think, an attack, and the only thing I can do is get to my GP, talk to him and get something done about it.”
Mark Levy filled in for the rest of the show and stepped back in today.
In a statement to 2GB, Hadley said he is now being treated in hospital and hopes to be back on-air on Wednesday.
“I’m currently in hospital having been admitted for the third time in twelve months for diverticulitis,” he said.
“I’m hopeful of returning to work on Wednesday and I will be consulting my surgeon about a more permanent solution – which may well involve surgery during my summer break.
“Thank you to all the people who have shown concern.”
According to Healthdirect, diverticulitis is a condition where small bulges in the wall of the large intestine become inflamed or infected. The disease is more common as people age.
