Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have changed schools for Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, after pulling them from their original British school just days after they started.
Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to the UK from their Montecito home in the US and confirmed plans to enroll their children in a school in Britain. But after two days spent meeting teachers and classmates, Archie and Lilibet were withdrawn.
A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess said the move was made “following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements”.
A friend of the Sussexes said traffic in the family’s new area had become a major concern for their small private security team, which feared it could struggle to keep a convoy moving safely.
“It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents,” the source told HELLO!.
“It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there.
“They really wanted to make it work, but they had to make a difficult decision based on the fact that the team couldn’t make the school run operationally secure.”
The couple’s spokesman said, “The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.
“This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
The development comes as reports also claim the Prince and Princess of Wales have been urged to meet with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to discuss the Royal Family’s future.
Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe said senior royals believe they have “no choice” but to seek a meeting with Harry.
“William is extremely concerned about what Harry’s return to Britain will mean for working members of the family,” a source told Larcombe, according to Woman & Home.
“It may well be too risky for them to just sit back and let Harry make the next move.
“There are suggestions that they feel they have no choice but to ask the Duke of Sussex for a face-to-face meeting to discuss the future and lay down, or at least reiterate, some of the rules.”
