Meghan Markle has made her guest appearance on MasterChef Australia on Sunday, July 26.

The Duchess of Sussex made her grand entrance on a rolled-out red carpet, with the top 24 contestants watching in shock at her appearance.

In the latest episode, contestants were tasked with making a dish “fit for a duchess” using one key ingredient from a list curated by Meghan herself.

At one point in the show she even took a call from husband Prince Harry, as the episode was filmed during the couple’s four-day visit to Australia in April.

The top contestants Aaron, Casper, and Vinnie, revealed what it was like working with Megan in an interview to Who Magazine, praising her for being a “fantastic guest judge”, who had a “genuine understanding” of food and the ingredients the contestants were working with.

“She was thoughtful, eloquent and incredibly fair in her judging, and it all felt very natural,” Aaron told the publication.

“What stood out most to me was her connection to food and how down-to-earth she was. She made everyone feel at ease, and that warmth made her incredibly relatable and personable.”

Vinnie described her as “kind” and praised her for making the contestants “feel comfortable”.

“She also gave us really insightful and constructive feedback on our dishes.”

Casper also revealed how generous she was both on and off camera.

“You can tell she has a real passion for food, and that really came through in her judging,” he said.

“Everything she said was incredibly articulate and well considered – like she’d been doing this for years.”

He added: “It was also very quickly apparent just how much she was enjoying being in the kitchen with us! She had such a calming nature and so much time to listen and engage with the four of us individually, which was incredible. It was something I think we all really appreciated in probably our most stressful and high-stakes cook to date.”

While the duchess has her own food brand and Netflix cooking show, her appearance on the show initially gained mixed reactions, and many even threatened to boycott the episode.

However, her appearance generated praise from viewers of the show, with one fan writing on social media: “I am not a royalist in any way but honestly, Meghan came across as kind, interested, intelligent and knowledgeable.”

“Way to go, Meghan.”

Another viewer commented: “The Duchess was absolutely awesome. What a stunning young woman she is, and to have the Prince come into the criticism of Aaron’s dish! “”

A third wrote: “Well done, MasterChef. Loved The Duchess, such class.”
