Channel 7 sports presenter Abbey Holmes has announced she is expecting her second child with husband and former AFL player Keegan Brooksby.
The couple shared the news on social media, revealing that their family is growing, one year after their welcomed their firstborn son.
“Soon to be 4 … Keegs, Braxxy & I are so excited to let you all know that we are growing our family, expecting another beautiful little baby to join us in Jan 2027!” Holmes wrote.
The new arrival will join the couple’s son, Braxton, who was born in June last year.
“We feel incredibly lucky to be in this position and can’t wait for Brax to become a big brother – he’s going to nail it,” she added.
Holmes also acknowledged that pregnancy announcements can be difficult for some families who may be struggling with fertility.
“We know this kind of news can hold different emotions for different people. We don’t take for granted how fortunate we are to be growing our family, and our hearts are with those still waiting, hoping, or grieving,” she wrote.
Friends and colleagues were quick to congratulate the family, with fellow Channel 7 presenter Kylie Gilles commenting: “Team list coming together beautifully. Congratulations.”
Veterinarian and TV presenter Dr Chris Brown also shared his well wishes, writing: “Congrats Abbs! Amazing news for you guys!”
Holmes, who is one of Australia’s best-known AFL reporters, welcomed Braxton in June 2025 and returned to work just seven weeks later, prompting criticism from some online.
At the time, she said there was no single approach to returning to work after having a baby.
“I think that if he didn’t take a bottle or was really unsettled and only slept on me, or whatever it might have been, then I certainly would have been hamstrung and certainly not come back seven weeks after having him,” she told 7News.
“There’s certainly a small minority of people out there that feel that they have the right to tell you what you should be doing and how things are to be done, which is never the case.”
She also rejected comments suggesting her husband was “babysitting” while caring for their son.
“(Someone said) ‘oh Dad’s on babysitting duty’. I’m sorry, but dads don’t babysit their own children; they’re 50 per cent of the parenting duo,” she said.
