NRL star Jai Arrow and his partner Berina have secretly tied the knot just months after the former Rabbitohs star announced his devastating motor neurone diagnosis.
The couple took to Instagram to share the update, posting photos from what appeared to be their courthouse elopement in Martin Place, Sydney.
“We did a thing,” she wrote.
“Don’t know how Italy will top this one but we can’t wait to celebrate with all our family and friends.
“I’m in awe of how amazing people are … thank you to everyone who gave their time to make this elopement a very extra special one.”
The pair have been engaged since late 2024 and share a daughter, Ayla, together.
In one of the photos the couple are beaming at the camera, with Berina carrying their daughter as confetti falls around them. The former athlete donned a traditional tux, while his wife wore a simple short white dress and matching heels, as well as floral lace stockings.
The happy news comes after the former Rabbitohs star announced his retirement from the sport in May, revealing that he had been diagnosed with MND.
According to MND Australia, the disease affects the function of the nerve and brain cells that control movements and there is currently no specific test or cure for it.
The disease has an average life expectancy of just 2-3 years from diagnosis according to MND Australia.
In support, the NRL has launched Jai July, featuring the upcoming clash between the Rabbitohs and the Newcastle Knights, in what they have named the “biggest birthday party in the world for Jai”.
Jai July will also feature initiatives across the month to raise money for MND research and support.
“This is not just for Rabbitohs and Knights fans – it’s for everyone in the game to get behind.
“Don’t bring presents. Bring a donation. And help Jai get through this with everyone in the Rugby League community behind him.”
