Julia Morris has opened up about what it was like to work with Robert Irwin on I’m a Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! and why she thinks he deserves the coveted Gold Logie award.
In an interview with Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast, the comedian gushed that Robert is the most “perfect” person.
“The only way I can describe him, and I know people don’t like the word, and he won’t like the word ‘perfect’, but he’s like a perfectly formed human,” she said.
“[Robert] is the person I’d like to become when I grow up.”
She previously commended the 22-year-old for his dedication, saying that “it was so extraordinary” to see how hard he was working to balance filming multiple TV shows.
“He went from the ballroom floor to the airport to do Good Morning America,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“Then he flew to Johannesburg, with the many different stopovers, to us in Kruger and started work the next day. I think he is an extraordinary human being.”
The duo have spent a lot of time together while filming the show in South Africa over the past few years, and now they have both been nominated for the iconic Gold Logie Award for the Most Popular Personality in Australian Television.
The 22-year-old is also hosting the show and going up against other Aussie TV personalities including A Current Affair presenter Allison Langdon, MasterChef judge Poh Ling Yeow, the ABC’s Lisa Millar, Sam Pang, and Channel 9 sport presenter Todd Woodbridge.
This is Julia’s fifth Gold Logie nomination over her 41-year career, and she said that while she would appreciate the recognition she thinks her former co-star was more deserving of the award.
“I think the best idea is to give [the Logie] to someone else,” she said.
“And when I say someone else, obviously, I mean Robert”.
“I speak often about Robert being the future of television,” she continued.
“No one needs to be worried about the future if we’ve got more young people like Robert coming through. I think we’re gonna be fine.”
