Actor Chad Lowe has announced the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Harper Lowe.
Lowe, 58, and his wife, producer Kim Painter, 52, shared the news in a statement shared on Wednesday, remembering Fiona as a creative young girl who loved to dance.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the statement read.
They described their daughter as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family said, adding, “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
Fiona’s grandfather, Charles “Chuck” Lowe, also paid tribute to his granddaughter on social media.
“Rest in peace sweet Fiona,” he wrote alongside a photograph of Fiona in a swimming pool.
Fiona’s school community has also been mourning her death, with one source telling People that she has been remembered as a “sweet, quiet and kind” girl.
“The school and community are very inclusive, artistic, a warm place. Parents are friends and most are involved with the school. This is a devastating time for the community,” the source said.
“The Lowe family is very involved and are at many school functions.
“Fiona was sweet, quiet and kind. Dance was her biggest passion, she had a very artistic soul.
“She was always kind to other students. Many of her friends are out today grieving.”
The principal of Fiona’s school also notified parents of the death, offering support to students and staff.
“It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students,” the email, obtained by Page Six, said.
“Our sincere condolences go out to the student’s family, friends and teachers,” it read.
“Counsellors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”
The family also urged anyone experiencing a mental health crisis to seek help.
Fiona was the middle of Lowe and Painter’s three daughters. She was due to turn 14 on November 16.
Last year, Lowe shared a tribute to Fiona on her 13th birthday.
“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!” the caption read.
The family had also experienced the loss of their home in the Pacific Palisades fire in 2025. Lowe previously spoke about helping his daughters cope with the loss.
“Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
Chad Lowe is best known for his roles in Life Goes On, Melrose Place and Pretty Little Liars. He is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe.
