Shirley MacLaine has made a new appearance for the first time in years since quietly retiring from acting

The 92-year-old Hollywood star sent her love to fans ahead of a screening of her 1969 film Sweet Charity in the Hamptons in New York.

“Hi, Southampton Playhouse. Wish I could be with you,” she said in a video message to fans that was shared on Instagram.

“I would like to see Sweet Charity again. Now, while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked,” she continued, with the screening set for August 25.

“And between you and me, it didn’t do very well, so I hope you guys like it,” MacLaine quipped.

The actress starred in the musical comedy as Charity Hope Valentine and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and a Laurel Award for top female comedy performance for the role.

She signed off her message by saying, “Much love,” and blowing kisses to her fans, who were quick to share their excitement.

“Oh my goodness! A message from a living legend!” wrote one person.

“Bravo to Shirley MacLaine !! One of the last of the great stars from the 1950’s. I have loved her many great films and characters,” added another.

“Shirley!!!!!! looking amazing darling!” commented a third.

MacLaine was last seen in April, days before her 92nd birthday at a restaurant in Malibu California.

Her last on-screen appearance was on Only Murders in the Building in 2022.
