Bunnings have announced their special Mother’s Day Event.

The hardware giant will launch a high tea and pot-and-plant activity in stores across Australia on Saturday, and while it seems “unexpected”, it’s their way of celebrating mums around the country.

“We love any excuse to spoil mum at Bunnings,” a Bunnings spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“While you might head into store on the weekend for a snag and not expect a High Tea, we wanted to create a fun, free and feel‑good way for families to slow down, celebrate mum and spend some quality time together.

“We’re big believers in gifts that grow, so there’s something special about families creating a little potted keepsake together and something mum can enjoy long after Mother’s Day.”

Bunnings regularly hosts free DIY events throughout the year, usually around Christmas, Easter and Halloween, with tens of thousands of people showing up.

One mum who went to one of their free events said: “I think in this economy, being able to get the kids out of the house and do an activity, that’s not going to the park, and not have to spend money is a win for anyone.”

The high tea sessions will be held in the morning or afternoon with some stores having multiple sessions.

The event has been described as “small and cosy” and they will provide “all the sweet treats you could want”.

Some stores will be hosting the event for only 30 minutes, while others will go for more than two hours.

Booking is “essential”.

Each store will also provide 100 to 200 seed packs for mums to take home after the event.
