Robert Irwin is returning to the world of Dancing With The Stars, this time as host of a new behind-the-scenes spin-off series.

The 22-year-old, who recently won the American version of the show, will front The Next Pro, a new competition designed to find the next professional dancer to join the long-running program.

Rather than competing on the dance floor, Irwin will guide viewers through the journey of finding the next dance expert.

“For the first time in Dancing with the Stars history, the greatest dancers will compete for a spot as the next pro,” Robert said.

“Let the fiercest dance battle begin.”

The new series will follow 12 up-and-coming dancers as they take part in an intensive audition process, competing for a coveted place as a professional on the show’s 35th season.

Contestants will live together in one house, with cameras capturing their training, performances and behind-the-scenes moments as they work towards securing a role on the program.

While Dancing With The Stars has featured dozens of professional dancers over more than two decades, the selection process has largely remained out of public view until now.

The spin-off will also feature experienced figures from the ballroom world, including three-time Mirrorball Trophy winner Mark Ballas and his mother Shirley Ballas, who will serve as judges. Other past professionals will appear as mentors and guest judges.

Irwin brings first-hand experience to the role, having competed in the show’s 34th season alongside partner Witney Carson. The pair impressed judges throughout the competition and went on to win the Mirrorball Trophy.

He also received the highest number of viewer votes in the show’s history.

The Next Pro is set to premiere in the United States on July 13, with episodes available to stream on Hulu the following day. The next season of Dancing With The Stars will air later this year.
