Bruce Willis has marked his 71st birthday amid his ongoing battle with dementia.
The actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, shared a rare photo of the actor to Instagram on Thursday, March 19, showing Willis smiling while sitting on a couch with an ocean and mountain view behind him.
“Today we celebrate Bruce’s birthday,” Emma began in the caption.
“This journey with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) has opened my eyes to the realities so many families face. It’s what inspired me to create The Emma & Bruce Willis Fund to raise awareness of FTD, support research, and stand beside the caregivers who carry so much every day,” she continued.
“If you’d like to honor Bruce today, please consider supporting the fund or another organization working in this space, or simply checking in on a caregiver — a small act of kindness that can mean so much. 💙.”
Fans and celebrities also shared messages of support in the comments section.
Al Roker wrote, “That smile,” while model Nicole Petrie added, “Happy birthday, Bruce! I hope you all have a wonderful day! ❤️.”
One fan described it as a “great picture of him,” prompting Emma to reply: “ain’t he handsome 😍.”
Willis has largely stepped out of the public eye since being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in early 2023, with his family occasionally sharing updates and photos with fans.
