Hollywood actress Diane Ladd has died at the age of 89.
Ladd, an acclaimed performer across film and television and the mother of actress Laura Dern, was known for roles in productions including Wild At Heart and Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
Her death was confirmed by Dern to The Hollywood Reporter.
“My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning” at her home in Ojai, California, the statement reads.
“She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created.”
Dern added, “We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.”
Ladd earned one of her three Academy Award nominations for her performance in Martin Scorsese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, and won a Golden Globe for the role.
She married fellow actor Bruce Dern in 1960 and the couple had two daughters, including Laura. Their first daughter tragically drowned at 18 months old. The couple divorced in 1969.
Ladd later married William Shea Jr that same year, before separating in 1977. She went on to wed Robert Hunter in 1999, remaining married until his death earlier this year.
Her extensive Hollywood career also included notable appearances in Chinatown, Primary Colors and Rambling Rose.
