Princess Diana’s older sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale was hospitalised after a recent horse riding accident.
In a recent podcast appearance, Earl Charles Spencer confirmed that his older sister had a “bad fall” requiring a stint in hospital.
“Sarah, who is nearly a decade older than me, who was always in trouble, she’s quite punchy,” he said on Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth podcast over the weekend.
“She’s still riding, and she’s had a really bad fall in the last month and has been in hospital for a long time.”
“The lead doctor said to my brother-in-law, ‘She’s quite a character, isn’t she?’, which I think is code for, ‘Could you take her home?'”
He added that his sister had been “quite a handful as a patient”.
Lady Sarah was always considered to be more like the late Princess Diana, and the pair remained close, with Lady Sarah occasionally acting as her sister’s Lady-in-Waiting during official duties as Princess of Wales.
They also went on vacation together, and one of their more memorable trips together was to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, where they were pictured on the beach with their children and mother, Frances Shand Kydd.
Princess Diana’s older sisters Lady Sarah and Lady Jane were the ones who accompanied the then Prince Charles to Paris to retrieve her body following the devastating crash that took her life on August 31, 1997.
