Dave Hughes has returned to hospital to have fluid drained from his lungs, just weeks after what he described as a “near death” experience.

The 54-year-old shared a video from his hospital bed, dressed in a hospital gown, as he updated fans on his latest health scare.

“Apparently fluid on your lungs is not a good thing so we’re getting rid of it,” he said in the update.

The comedian then lifted up a collection bag to show some of the fluid that had already been removed during treatment.

“The experts are draining a coupla litres of lung fluid into a goon bag for me,” Hughes joked in the caption.

“Then it’s party time again.”

“This looks more dramatic than it is,” he added in a text caption across the video.

Friends and fans were quick to flood the comments with messages of concern and support.

“Oi. I’m actually worried but also appreciate this content gold,” wrote comedian Nikki Osbourne.

“Text once you’re out of ICU,” she added.

Bec Judd and Andy Woodhead were also among those wishing him a speedy recovery.

His latest hospital visit comes only weeks after the star suffered five broken ribs and a punctured lung during the charity AFL Legends Match for Prostate Cancer and was treated in the ICU ward at Cabrini Hospital following the incident.

“I nearly died but I’m going to say it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. So, it was a real moment,” he said during an appearance on The KIIS Network’s Will & Woody show.

“On the night, I looked like I was at death’s door but some people thought I was bunging it on, and so I didn’t go to hospital on the night.”

The next morning, his wife Lisa took him to a Melbourne hospital at 5am after noticing his constant groaning, where X-rays revealed the seriousness of his injuries.

After his hospital stay, Hughes told followers he was “all good” and even managed to joke about the ordeal.

“Yes I’ve had 3 set shots in legend’s games and kicked 3 goals, the latest while carrying five broken ribs and a punctured lung. Thanks for asking,” he wrote.

Hughes has not yet confirmed the cause of his latest hospital visit, and it remains unclear whether it is connected to the injuries from last month’s AFL match.
