With Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s 19-year marriage coming to an end, details of their prenuptial agreement have emerged.
Multiple outlets reported that Kidman has filed to end the marriage, with insiders saying the pair have been living apart for several months.
“Sometimes relationships just run their course,” a source told Page Six, adding that Kidman “did not want the separation” and had been “trying to save things.”
While the couple have an estimated $500 million combined fortune and 11 properties spread across the US and Australia, one detail in their prenup is drawing attention.
Their prenup includes a “cocaine clause” that would require Kidman to pay Urban $908,000 for every year of marriage, provided he remained sober.
The unique condition reportedly aimed to support Urban’s recovery from past substance abuse, which he has openly discussed. Urban has credited Kidman with helping him overcome his struggles, and has previously completed a stint in rehab.
Kidman, 58, and Urban, 56, share an extensive real estate portfolio built during their nearly two-decade relationship.
The couple own properties in Sydney, Nashville, Beverly Hills, and New York City -including a $15 million Chelsea penthouse, a Southern Highlands cattle farm, and several units in Sydney’s exclusive Latitude Building.
Their Nashville home, purchased in 2008 for $5.2 million, has been their main residence. However, Urban is now reportedly living in a separate property he recently bought in the area.
Speculation about the couple’s relationship intensified in July, when Kidman reportedly applied for residency in Portugal without Urban. However, sources insisted that his absence was due to touring commitments.
“Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the US and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa,” a source told the New York Post.
Despite owning a home in Portugal, the couple’s primary residence has remained in Nashville.
If the divorce goes ahead, the division of assets is expected to be lengthy and complex due to their global property holdings and long-term marriage. Property laws differ between countries and states, and while Kidman is reportedly the primary breadwinner, both have enjoyed lucrative careers.
The prenup, which includes financial clauses tied to sobriety, may also play a key role in how assets are split.
The couple share two teenage daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
