After 12 years together, a two-year engagement and plenty of good-natured speculation about when they would finally say “I do”, Australian comedian Andy Lee and his long-time love Rebecca Harding have officially tied the knot.

And they’ve done it in style, exchanging vows in New York City surrounded by their nearest and dearest, including some very familiar Australian faces.

Lee, 45, and Harding, 36, celebrated their long-awaited wedding in the Big Apple, with approximately 80 guests invited to share in their special day.

Among those joining the celebrations was, of course, Lee’s best mate and comedy partner Hamish Blake, who served as one of three groomsmen alongside Lee’s brother Cameron and close friend Michael “Horgs” Horgan.

And there was another important member of the wedding party to consider: the couple’s beloved Welsh Terrier, Henri. Harding had previously made it clear that their four-legged family member would, of course, be part of the big day. Whether Henri actually made it down the aisle remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say he wasn’t going to be left out of the celebrations without a fight.

Blake had previously dubbed the occasion Australia’s very own “royal wedding”, although with considerably fewer tiaras and presumably a lot more inappropriate speeches.

The happy occasion marks another milestone in a love story that began in a Melbourne café back in 2014.

Harding was working as a waitress when Lee first spotted her, and the smitten comedian reportedly ordered an unusually elaborate breakfast just to prolong his visit.

Eventually, he worked up the courage to leave his email address on a napkin.

It was a decidedly old-fashioned romantic gesture, particularly for a man whose professional life revolves around getting laughs, but it clearly worked.

Twelve years later, that little piece of paper has helped lead them all the way to the altar.

In a particularly touching tribute to their first meeting, Lee incorporated another napkin into his proposal in April 2024.

The comedian popped the question at the couple’s historic Melbourne property, Ravenswood, which they have been painstakingly renovating together.

Standing beside an old marble fireplace, Lee pretended to discover something hidden inside before producing a napkin and revealing an engagement ring.

The couple announced their engagement the following month, with Lee joking on social media that people thought they had rushed into things.

Given they’d already been together for a decade, the joke was fairly safe.

Earlier this year, Lee confirmed on the Hamish & Andy podcast that the couple had finally settled on their wedding plans.

“Yes, Bec and I have got our act together,” he declared, before promising listeners they would be married before the end of 2026.

And, true to his word, he’s delivered with a couple of months to spare.

Naturally, the lead-up to the wedding wasn’t entirely without a little Hamish-and-Andy-style chaos.

As the wedding party prepared to fly to the United States, Lee feared he might need to replace one of his groomsmen when Horgan appeared to be running dangerously late for their flight.

In a video shared online, Lee enlisted a Qantas flight attendant to make an urgent announcement over the airport’s public address system, calling for his missing mate to get to the gate.

Fortunately, Horgan made it aboard, with Lee later sharing a photograph of him enjoying a drink alongside former Australian cricketer Dan Christian.

“He made it!” Lee wrote.

It was probably a relief for the groom, who had already joked that his three towering groomsmen might force him to wear platform shoes to avoid looking comparatively short in the wedding photographs.

New York has long held a special place in the couple’s lives, with Lee a regular visitor and co-owner of Australian-themed pub Old Mates, which counts Hugh Jackman, Ash Barty and Mick Fanning among its investors.

But the city will now hold an even more personal significance as the place where their next chapter officially began.

For fans who have followed the couple’s relationship over the years, the wedding is a particularly heartwarming moment.

From a chance meeting over breakfast to renovating their dream home together, Lee and Harding have shared plenty of laughs, adventures and milestones along the way.

And after more than a decade together, they’ve finally made it official.

Congratulations to the happy couple – and here’s hoping Hamish behaved himself during the speeches.
