Darwin rapper Yung Milla has been crowned the winner of The Voice Australia 2026 after winning over viewers with his storytelling and connection to his culture and community.
The rapper, who was coached by former Spice Girl Melanie C, made it through to the grand final before taking home the title and $100,000 in prize money.
“I came here as a rapper from Darwin to share my story, my struggles, things that happen where I’m from and reach different audiences around Australia. Now I’m at the grand finale,” he said.
“I just can’t believe it. I’m just so grateful.”
For his final solo performance, Yung Milla performed Tupac’s Changes, describing the song as representing everything he stands for.
Melanie C became emotional as she reflected on his journey.
“I think I’ve run out of words,” she said. “You know you’ve affected me. Obviously, everybody who’s been in a room with you, everybody at home. I’m just so proud. You did this.
“I think you being on this show has changed what The Voice means. Historically, we’ve always thought of a big singer, but it’s about having a voice and using it very powerfully.”
Yung Milla later joined Melanie C for a performance of her 1999 hit Never Be The Same Again.
“I’m a Black boy from Darwin and now I’m on The Voice grand finale singing with Melanie C,” he said.
Along with the $100,000 prize, Yung Milla received an all-inclusive recording development package covering production, recording, mixing and mastering, as well as access to Australian A&R and label services.
