Ronan Keating is in mourning after the sudden and shocking death of his older brother.

Ciarán, who was in his 50s, and his wife were reportedly involved in a two-car collision in Swinford, Ireland, on Saturday.  

His wife was rushed to hospital with injuries after the crash, while  Ciarán was pronounced dead after suffering fatal injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle who collided with the Keatings is also said to be receiving treatment for serious injuries    

According to  reports from The  Sun, the  couple  were travelling to watch their son, Ruairi, who plays for Cork City  football and was just 24 hours away from celebrating his birthday, when the fatal accident occurred.

The publication also reports that Ronan, 46, has rushed back to Ireland to be with his family following the devastating news.

Local councillor John O’Malley offered his condolences for the Keating family, saying, “Everyone is shocked and saddened by the awful news.”

“He was highly regarded by all who knew him here and we are thinking of his wife and children and his extended family.”

The former Boyzone star is the youngest of five children, with one sister, Linda, and three older brothers,  Ciarán, Gerard and Gary.
