Terri Irwin has shared a heartfelt tribute to her late husband Steve Irwin on what would have been their 34th wedding anniversary, reflecting on the life they built together and the legacy that continues through their family and wildlife conservation work.

The 60-year-old posted a photo of herself wearing her trademark khaki outfit, accompanied by a message looking back on their decades-long journey.

“34 years ago, the adventure began…marrying Steve, moving to Australia, two beautiful children, and a life dedicated to wildlife conservation. My heart is full. I am truly blessed,” she said.

The post quickly attracted messages of support from family, friends and fans.

Their daughter, Bindi Irwin, wrote: “We love you SO much.”

Television personality Julia Morris also shared her admiration for Terri.

“You are the Guru. The OG. A proper inspiration for us all.”

Former newsreader Jessica Rowe added: “Thank you for making the world a better place for all of us.”

Photographer Rachael Tagg commented: “Living proof that one person can change the world.”

The pair first met in 1991 during a wildlife demonstration at Australia Zoo. Steve later described seeing Terri for the first time as “love at first sight”.

They married a year later in Terri’s hometown of Oregon in the United States before relocating to Australia and working together at the zoo founded by Steve’s parents.

The couple welcomed Bindi in 1998 and son Robert Irwin in 2003. They also founded Wildlife Warriors, which continues to support wildlife protection projects around the world.

Steve Irwin died in 2006 after being fatally struck by a stingray while filming on the Great Barrier Reef. Since then, Terri has continued to champion the conservation work they started together.

Earlier this year, Robert reflected on his parents’ relationship and shared how much they achieved together.

“As a young newlywed couple, my mum and dad set out on the journey of a lifetime.”

“From filming the Crocodile Hunter series to managing their ever-expanding wildlife sanctuary, they were taking the world by storm and inspiring an entire generation along the way,” he said.

Terri has also spoken openly about how much she misses her husband.

Speaking to US Weekly in 2025, she said one of the best parts of their marriage was the sense of adventure they shared.

“Steve was probably the most spontaneous person. Everyone says to live every day to its fullest, but we never quite do that every day. And Steve really, really did,” she said at the time.

She said she felt fortunate to have found Steve, but still missed him every day.

Terri has previously said she has no interest in dating again because she already found her “happily ever after” with him.
