Prince and Princess of Wales receive new royal title

King Charles has issued new royal titles for Prince William and Princess Kate. Kate has been appointed Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour. The Order was founded by King George V in 1917 to recognise outstanding achievements in the Arts, Sciences, Medicine and Public Service. Since becoming a member of the royal family, a lot of Kate's work has been on the arts, mental health and early education. The appointment comes after the Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer, and is currently undergoing treatment for it. Prince William was also given a new title as the Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath was established by King George I in 1725, and is awarded to members of the military or civil service for their exemplary service. King Charles had received the same title when he was the Prince of Wales, and the position was left vacant until now. Previous Grand Masters include Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester and Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn. The Buckingham Palace have announced several other new appointments this week. Queen Camilla as been appointed the Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The title was previously held by the late Duke of Edinburgh, the late Queen's grandmother – Queen Mary of Teck, and King George VI when he was the Prince of Wales. The Duchess of Gloucester has become a Royal Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and is expected to make her debut at the ceremony on June 17. The Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, which was established by King Edward III almost 700 years ago. Other appointments to the Order include Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach, The Right Honourable the Lord Kakkar and Lord Lloyd-Webber. Two iconic locations officially given dual Indigenous titles

In a significant move to recognise and honour the rich cultural heritage of the Indigenous peoples of Australia, two iconic locations in northern NSW will now be officially known by their Indigenous names. This decision comes after impassioned calls from the community to acknowledge the profound significance these sites hold in Indigenous culture and history. Walgan, translating to "shoulder" in the Bundjalung language, has been designated as the dual name for Cape Byron, marking it as the Australian mainland's most easterly point. Cape Byron, situated in the picturesque town of Byron Bay, has long been a hotspot for tourists seeking stunning coastal views. However, beyond its natural beauty, this area holds deep cultural significance for the Arakwal and other Bundjalung people. It has served as a sacred site for important gatherings and traditional ceremonial practices, anchoring it firmly in the cultural tapestry of the region. Similarly, Nguthungulli, referred to as the "Father of the World", will now share its name with Julian Rocks, a renowned diving destination located 2.5km off Cape Byron. This underwater marvel, steeped in Aboriginal lore and legend, is intricately tied to the dreaming stories of the Arakwal and other Bundjalung communities. By bestowing these dual names, authorities aim to not only pay homage to the Indigenous heritage of the land but also to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of its significance among all Australians. The decision to officially recognise these dual names was approved by the NSW Geographical Names Board, following a submission from the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Additionally, in a nod to preserving local Indigenous language and culture, a reserve in the suburb of Bangalow will be formally named Piccabeen Park. The term "Piccabeen" originates from the Bundjalung language, referring to the bangalow palm and the traditional baskets crafted from its fronds. Jihad Dib, the Customer Service Minister, emphasised the NSW government's commitment to safeguarding and promoting Indigenous language and culture through place naming. "All Australians share a relationship to the land and the names we give to places convey their significance, sense of history and identity," he said "Dual-naming acknowledges the significance of Aboriginal culture and represents a meaningful step towards the process of unity in NSW." Echoing these sentiments, David Harris, the Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty Minister, underscored the enduring connections that the Arakwal and other Bundjalung peoples have maintained with these sites since time immemorial. World's oldest dog has title suspended amid doubts about his age

The world's <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/family-pets/miraculous-meet-the-world-s-oldest-dog" target="_blank" rel="noopener">oldest dog</a>, Bobi, who was reportedly 31 years and 165 days old when he died in October, has provisionally lost his title as Guinness World Records investigates his age. Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, was a livestock guardian breed with a life expectancy of anywhere between 12-14 years, which meant that he lived over double his age. His age was initially confirmed by the Veterinary Medical Service of the Municipality of Leiria, which said he had been registered in 1992, which was then verified by Portuguese government-authorised pet database SIAC. He was crowned the world's "oldest ever dog" in February, and his owner Leonel Costa claimed that there were many reasons behind the dog's extraordinary age. Costa said that Bobi always roamed freely, lived in a "calm, peaceful" environment and ate human food soaked in water to remove seasonings. But now, Bobi's true age has been question after suspicions about the evidence that proved his true age were raised not long after his death. "While our review is ongoing we have decided to temporarily pause both the record titles for oldest dog living and ever just until all of our findings are in place," a spokesperson told CNN. The GWR is now conducting a formal review, which involves analysing existing evidence, seeking new evidence, and reaching out to experts and those linked to the original application. Australian beach holds the title for world's trickiest name

An Australian beach has claimed the number one spot on a list ranking the most frequently mispronounced beaches and beach resorts worldwide. Based on an analysis done by the pronunciation dictionary Forvo, Peregian Beach, located near Noosa on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, is the beach that people require the most assistance with in terms of pronunciation. The analysis is based on the number of times the most popular beaches, landmarks, museums and nature spots have been searched on their website. Peregian, which is pronounced “Per – ridge – ian”, is thought to derive from the Aboriginal word for emu. However, the source of this is unclear as in the local Gubbi Gubbi dialect, the word for emu is Nguriun, according to Noosa Libraries. Peregian is not the only beach many struggle with pronouncing, with five other Australian beaches making the top 20 according to travel website <a href="https://hawaiianislands.com/blog/mispronounced-tourist-spots/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HawaiianIslands.com</a>. The list includes Sydney’s Milk Beach, Clovelly Beach, Bondi Beach, Vaucluse Bay and Manly Beach. Mad Men If you weren’t paying attention to Mad Men’s pilot, (and it seems as though many of us weren’t), “Mad Men” are the advertising men working on Madison Avenue. Throw those words together and what do you get? I’ll wait. 2. Black Mirror If you haven’t yet experienced this eerie anthology series about the myriad potential dark futures humans face because of our obsession with and dependence upon technology, you should add it to your list. In 2014, the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, explained to the UK’s Channel 4 that “black mirror” refers to how any kind of screen looks once it’s been turned off. Try it now – pick up your phone without pressing any buttons. Can you see your face staring back at you from a dark, reflected world? 3. Grey’s Anatomy This is one of those punny titles that plays on the lead character’s name, but it works so deliciously that I’m willing to let it slide. Lead character Meredith Grey has her life and inner workings on display for the whole world to see each week, but what you might not realise is that Gray’s Anatomy is a popular medical textbook published over 150 years ago. 4. Breaking Bad This one is a little obscure, and many people never gave it a second thought – so wrapped up were they in the spectacular downward spiral of Walter White. “Breaking bad” is a <a href="https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Break%20Bad" target="_blank" rel="noopener">colloquial term</a> that means you challenge conventions, skirt the edges of the law, or defy authority. Pretty much sums up all of Walt, right? 5. The Wire This subversive, subtle classic is so engrossing that it’s easy to skip straight past the simple name without giving it a second thought, so you might not notice that these aren’t the typical police you’re used to seeing on television. Harry and Meghan have reportedly confirmed the royal titles of their children, Archie and Lilibet, in a statement. The pair also revealed that young Lilibet had been christened in a quiet ceremony at home in California, and it was one glaring detail that caught the attention of eagle-eyed readers. “Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor,” a statement to People read. The same publication reported that the ceremony was attended by around 20 to 30 people, and that Meghan’s mother - Doria Ragland - and actor Tyler Perry - who is Lilibet’s godfather - were there. The British royals, despite the Sussexes having “extended an invite to King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton” did not attend. Buckingham Palace later confirmed that the line of succession list on its website would be updated to reflect this. Archie and Lilibet had been awarded the title of prince and princess when Harry’s father, King Charles III, had inherited the throne. However, Buckingham Palace’s website had listed them as “master” and “miss” respectively, and their true titles had remained a widely debated issue upon the Duke and Duchess’ move from the United Kingdom to the United States. And in 2021, during an interview with Oprah, Meghan even claimed that the palace “didn’t want him [Archie] to become a prince.” She went on to explain that while the titles weren’t important to her, through her pregnancy she and Harry had the same concerns for their son should he not be recognised as a prince. And before Archie’s birth, he had allegedly been offered the courtesy title of ‘Earl of Dumbarton’, but his parents turned it down. “They didn’t like the idea of Archie being called the Earl of Dumbarton,” a source told The Telegraph at the time, “because it began with the word ‘dumb’ [and] they were worried about how that might look.” Under rules established by King George V in 1917, prince or princess was a title only given to the monarch’s grandchildren through the male line, and one other family member - but not the great grandchildren. The only other family member in the direct line of succession entitled to the title is the eldest great grandson. George, William and Kate’s eldest, holds the title of prince through this ruling. And in 2012, the late queen changed the rules so that the couples’ youngest children, Charlotte and Louis, might also carry the titles of princess and prince. However, upon Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, Archie and Lilibet became the acting monarch’s grandchildren, and questions over what titles they would bear began anew. King Charles III “saving” title for Princess Charlotte

King Charles III is reportedly saving the title of Duchess of Edinburgh for his granddaughter Princess Charlotte. It was previously expected that when Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, died in 2021, the title would be given to Prince Edward. But Charles inherited the title and now its future is up in air with talks of him saving it for Princess Charlotte as she is third in line to the throne. "It would be a fitting way to remember the Queen – who, of course, had the title Duchess of Edinburgh – and a way for His Majesty to honour the line of succession,” a source told The Mail on Sunday. The Palace did not release any comment about the title. Princess Charlotte is the first female in the Royal Family to not be removed from her line of succession by her younger brother thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act (2013). The new law saw women born in the Royal Family after October 2011 holding their place of succession no matter if they had a younger male in the family. "It is not beyond the realms of possibility that she will accede the throne if, for example, Prince George does not have children," the source continued. The decision of who becomes the Duke or Duchess of Edinburgh was always going to be King Charles’ decision. Danish palace cops backlash after announcing slimmed-down monarchy

Tension is said to be running high in the Danish royal family after Prince Joachim claimed his children were given just five days’ notice that they would lose their royal titles following a decision made by their grandmother Queen Margrethe. “I was given five days' notice to tell them. In May, I was presented with a plan which, by and large, was that when the children each turned 25, it would happen,” Prince Joachim said. “Now I had only five days to tell them. Athena turns 11 in January.” In a bombshell announcement, the Danish Royal Household confirmed that Prince Joachim’s children would no longer be using the title of Prince or Princess of Denmark. Instead, they would be restricted to using the titles of Count, Countess or Comtesse of Monpezat from the start of next year. “In April 2008, Her Majesty the Queen conferred the titles of Count, Countess and Comtesse of Monpezat on her sons, their spouses and their descendants,” the statement, released yesterday, read. “In May 2016, it was also announced that His Royal Highness Prince Christian, as the only one of the Queen's grandchildren, is expected to receive an annuity from the state as an adult. “As a natural extension of this, Her Majesty has decided that with effect from 1 January 2023, the descendants of His Royal Highness Prince Joachim can only use their titles as Count and Countess of Monpezat, as their previous titles as Prince and Princess of Denmark will lapse. “Prince Joachim's descendants will henceforth have to be addressed as Excellencies.” It was confirmed that Prince Joachim’s children would still maintain their places in the order of succession, but would be able to live their lives “without being limited by the special considerations and duties that a formal affiliation with the Royal House of Denmark as an institution involves”. The statement also hinted that the decision was designed to streamline the monarchy, which follows similar sentiments shared by King Charles II and other European royal households. However, Prince Joachim, the youngest of Margrethe’s two sons, claimed his children were “harmed” by the news and that he was given little notice. “We are all very sad. It's never fun to see your children being harmed. They are been put in a situation they do not understand,” he told Danish news outlet <a href="https://ekstrabladet.dk/underholdning/kongelige/danskekongelige/nu-reagerer-prins-joachim-mine-boern-er-gjort-fortraed/9447865" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ekstra Bladet</a>. The 53-year-old royal, who is sixth in line to the throne, shares his two eldest sons Nikolai, 23, and Felix, 20, with his first wife Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksberg, and 13-year-old Henrik and 10-year-old Athena with his current wife, Princess Marie. Alexandra said the news was like a “bolt out of the blue” and that her two sons felt “ostracised” by their family. “They cannot understand why their identity is being taken away from them,” she told Danish magazine Se og Hør. A spokesperson for the Countess told another news outlet that Prince Joachim only learnt of his children’s fate from an aide, with claims that Queen Margrethe didn’t speak to her son or grandchildren about the change. Queen Margrethe, who is celebrating her Golden Jubilee this year, defended the decision at an event in Copenhagen. “It is a consideration I have had for quite a long time and I think it will be good for them in their future. That is the reason,” she said. In another statement, the Royal Household supported the Queen’s claims that it had been a long time coming while conceding that there are “many emotions at stake”. “As the Queen stated yesterday, the decision has been a long time coming,” it read. “We understand that there are many emotions at stake at the moment, but we hope that the Queen's wish to future-proof the Royal Household will be respected.” Since the announcement, there have been reports of an “ice-cold air” between the Queen and her grandchildren. “There is ice-cold air between Queen Margrethe and her grandchildren after she decided that they will lose their titles as prince and princess from the New Year,” Ekstra Bladet reported. “The news, which has crushed both the four children and their parents, was not delivered by the queen herself. “They have not been called to Amalienborg for a cold coke and an explanation as to why they must henceforth be addressed as counts and countesses. Denmark’s Queen strips grandkids of royal titles

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has stripped four of her grandchildren of their royal titles in hopes they will be “able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent”. The Queen has two sons, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim, and eight grandchildren. Her sons, their wives, and children all have the titles of count and countess of Monpezat, referring to Margrethe's husband, who was born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat. Prince Joachim’s children - Prince Nikolai, 23, Prince Felix, 20, Prince Henrik, 13 and Princess Athena, 10 - will not be able to use their “prince” and “princess” titles from January 1, 2023. Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary’s children are not affected by the decision. “Her Majesty has decided that, as of 1 January 2023, His Royal Highness Prince Joachim's descendants can only use their titles as counts and countess of Monpezat, as the titles of prince and princess that they have held up until now will be discontinued," the Danish royal household said in a statement. "Prince Joachim's descendants will thus have to be addressed as excellencies in the future. “The Queen’s decision is in line with similar adjustments that other royal houses have made in various ways in recent years. “With her decision, Her Majesty The Queen wishes to create the framework for the four grandchildren to be able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent without being limited by the special considerations and duties that a formal affiliation with the Royal House of Denmark as an institution involves.” Image: Getty

A new era for the House of Windsor: How Her Majesty's death will affect royal titles

As the world mourns the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, the royal family is shaking up their official business structure to accommodate for their "great sadness". Following the death of Her Majesty at age 96, the man formerly known as Prince Charles is now officially King Charles III, as announced by British Prime Minister Liz Truss this morning and later confirmed himself in an emotional statement. King Charles III is not the only one who has come into a new title after the death of Queen Elizabeth, as the entire royal family will see a change in their official titles as the line of succession has shifted down a generation. Camilla is soon to be known as Queen Consort, as per the late Queen Elizabeth's wishes, forgoing her title of the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince William is now first in line for the throne, meaning his title is expected to change from Duke of Cambridge to the titles his father held before ascending the throne: Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall. While the title is not yet official, Prince William and Kate Middleton, formerly the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have changed their social media pages to read: "The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge." To align with her husband's new title, Kate is set to become the Princess of Wales: a title that has not been used since Princess Diana married King Charles in 1981. Out of respect, Camilla chose not to use the title Princess of Wales upon her marriage to Charles in 2005. "It's hard to see it not happening. I'm sure it'll be a bit of a bittersweet moment," a source told <a title="The Telegraph" href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/01/09/celebrating-40-project-queen-kate-begins/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Telegraph</a> in January this year of what is expected to be Kate's title. "This is [Diana's] son and his wife, so in some ways, it will be coming full circle – but it will also be a poignant reminder of what we all lost." It's not just senior working royals who will come into new titles, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, three, and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, one, are entitled become Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Current guidelines laid out in 1917 in a Letters Patent by King George V – the Queen's grandfather – say that the children of the sovereign, the children of the sons of the sovereign and the eldest male son of the son of the Prince of Wales would all be titled as prince and princesses. All the children and grandchildren of the current monarch are ultimately bestowed the prince or princess title, but it is unclear if Harry and Meghan will accept the titles for their children – or if Charles will allow it, which, according to <a href="https://honey.nine.com.au/royals/prince-charles-to-deny-prince-harry-meghan-markle-son-archie-royal-title-under-plans-to-slim-down-monarchy-when-he-is-king/7adc0484-6b0b-40ba-bbe3-58f0d4034615" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previous reports</a>, it seems he will not. Ash Barty has traded her tennis whites for a corporate outfit after announcing she is the new Chief of Inspiration for Optus. The new royal title awaiting Princess Charlotte

Princess Charlotte could receive a new title when her father, Prince William, becomes king. The Duke of Cambridge, 40, is currently second in line to the throne, meaning it is very likely he will become the reigning king during his lifetime. As a new monarch ascends the throne and the line of succession changes, some members of the royal family may receive a new title. As for 7-year-old Princess Charlotte, the young royal could be given the title of The Princess Royal, which is traditionally bestowed upon the eldest daughter of the sovereign. It would make Princess Charlotte the eighth Princess Royal in British royal history. The title is currently held by Anne, the Queen’s eldest daughter, who received it in 1987. According to stringent royal protocol, the title is held for life, even if the holder outlives the monarch, meaning only one person can hold the title at any one time. Under these rules, Princess Charlotte will only be eligible for the title if Princess Anne passes away and Prince William becomes king. Titanic working title: Planet Ice While making the second highest-grossing movie of all time, James Cameron wanted to throw other film studios off of his trail. When he had to shoot a scene off the coast of Nova Scotia featuring lots of icebergs, keeping this, well, titanic secret became a bit more challenging. So, he claimed that his project was a science-fiction movie called ‘Planet Ice’. Frozen working title: The Snow Queen ‘The Snow Queen’ was the original intended title of Disney’s 2013 blockbuster, based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name. But the original plot of the film was going to follow the fairytale far more closely, with Elsa, the titular Snow Queen, as the villain, terrorising the kingdom with her ice powers. After years of production struggles, Disney executives gave the film’s script a major overhaul, changing Elsa to a good character terrified of powers she couldn’t control, and the highest-grossing animated film of all time, Frozen, was born. The Avengers working title: Group Hug This epic on-screen team-up of several of Marvel’s biggest superheroes was a major-enough film to require a totally unrelated working title during production. Writer-director Joss Whedon’s unusual choice? ‘Group Hug’. Since the film takes several heroes, many of whom already had their own movies, and brings them together to save the world, this title seems appropriate. This is despite the fact the heroes don’t get along that well until the third act of the film. And Group Hug isn’t the only fun working title in the Marvel universe. Captain America: The First Avenger worked under the title ‘Frostbite’, which seems apt considering that the titular hero ends up frozen in ice at the end of the movie. Alien working title: Star Beast Is an alien by any other name still an alien? The 1979 Ridley Scott sci-fi/horror film was originally going to be called ‘Star Beast’, before the screenwriter realised that Alien might suit the film better because of how many times that word appeared in the screenplay. Snakes on a Plane working title: Pacific Air Flight 121 This cult classic film was supposed to be called ‘Pacific Air Flight 121’. The producers picked Snakes on a Plane as a comically literal working title. The reason it became the real title? Samuel L. Jackson. The film’s star revealed that the wacky working title, which he’d thought was going to be the real one, was the only reason he’d taken the role. The vaccine loophole that could see Novak defend his title

Novak Djokovic could be allowed to defend his winning title at the French Open under new Covid-19 restrictions, even if he is not vaccinated. After Djokovic's high-profile deportation from Australia when he didn't meet the country's vaccine rules, his future at the French Open was also thrown into jeopardy. It initially appeared that the Serbian tennis star would not be welcomed at Roland-Garros under a new law that intended to ban unvaccinated people from stadiums, bars, restaurants and other public places. French Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu previously said that as soon as the law was passed, France's vaccine pass would be compulsory "for all spectators, practitioners, French or foreign professionals" to enter stadiums, theatres or exhibition centres. However, thanks to a loophole in the vaccine pass, Novak could be allowed to still compete. The vaccine pass is not limited to Covid-19 vaccinations, as anyone who has tested positive to Covid within the last six months is exempt from having to display the pass. This rule suggests Djokovic could still compete in the French Open in May and June, due to the fact that he tested positive in mid-December 2021. The French sports ministry and French Open organisers have said its too early to comment on Djokovic's future at the event, saying restrictions may change between now and May depending on the virus situation. Royal Family strips Prince Andrew of all royal patronages and military titles

The British Royal Family has removed Prince Andrew’s military titles and royal patronages, meaning the Queen’s second son will no longer be known as ‘His Royal Highness’. The move comes as Andrew fights a lawsuit brought in US court by Virginia Giuffre, accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager. Andrew was already forced to step down from public duties in 2019 because of his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and after a disastrous BBC interview failed to clear his name. Buckingham Palace said in a statement, “With the Queen’s approval and agreement, The Duke of York’s military affiliations and royal patronages have been returned to the queen. The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.” On Wednesday, Andrew’s lawyers failed to persuade US District Judge Lewis Kaplan to dismiss Virginia Giuffre’s civil lawsuit, and Judge Kaplan ruled that Giuffre could pursue claims that Andrew battered her and intentionally caused her emotional distress while Epstein was trafficking her. Andrew continues to deny Giuffre’s accusations that he forced her to have sex with him. The decision means Andrew could be required to give evidence at a trial which could begin between September and December if no settlement is reached. A source close to Andrew said, “Given the robustness with which Judge Kaplan greeted our arguments, we are unsurprised by the ruling. However, it was not a judgment on the merits of Ms Giuffre’s allegations. This is a marathon not a sprint and the Duke will continue to defend himself against these claims.” As for the Royal Family’s move to distance themselves from Andrew, the BBC’s royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell said, “This is now about the protection of the royal family’s reputation. This is likely to do, and is already doing, considerable reputational damage – it’s being followed around the world.” Andrew’s military affiliations and patronages will be redistributed to other members of the family. Prince Charles aims to change Prince Edward's title

Prince Charles has a title change planned for his younger brother Prince Edward, but it won't happen for almost a decade. When Prince Philip died in April, his Duke of Edinburgh title was passed onto Prince Charles as per tradition, but Prince Charles won't need it when he becomes King. Royal fans are curious as to who will receive the title, as it'll either be bestowed upon Edward, 57, or another member of his family. He can also leave it in abeyance. Arbiter, former palace press secretary, said that the title will be given to Prince Edward, but in around eight years' time. "That Prince Edward will become The Duke of Edinburgh in the next reign was his father's and is his mother's wishes and Prince Charles won't go against those," Arbiter <a rel="noopener" href="https://twitter.com/RoyalDickie/status/1415538495553146882" target="_blank">wrote on Twitter.</a> "It won't happen immediately, but by 2029, when Edward turns 65, it will. "Time for speculation, without substance, to cease." 9Honey's royal commentator, Victoria Arbiter, tweeted her thoughts on it as well. "Finding the Prince Charles/Duke of Edinburgh title debate highly speculative," Victoria <a rel="noopener" href="https://twitter.com/victoriaarbiter/status/1415386375810125829" target="_blank">wrote on Twitter</a>. "So far there's very little evidence to support the claim. Charles wouldn't go against the wishes of his parents, nor would he be discussing the topic while his mother is still alive." The Times quoted a source that's close to Prince Charles said that the decision is "up to him". "The prince is the Duke of Edinburgh as it stands, and it is up to him what happens to the title. It will not go to Edward." Prince Edward is well aware that the title should've gone to his elder brother Prince Andrew, but the Queen had already given him the dukedom of York. "It's a very bittersweet role to take on because the only way the title can come to me is after both my parents have actually passed away," Edward said. "My father was very keen that the title should continue, but he didn't quite move quickly enough with Andrew, so it was us who he eventually had the conversation with. It was a lovely idea; a lovely thought."

Prince Charles sparks new family feud rumours

Prince Charles is allegedly refusing to give his younger brother Edward the title of Duke of Edinburgh after Prince Philip’s death. The Earl of Wessex has been waiting for his father’s title for over twenty years, however rumours are swirling that Charles is not so keen on fulfilling his brother’s wishes. <img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7842383/charles-edward-1.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/29c686a3981c470dbf6d9740e42df3c4" /> The title of the Duke of Edinburgh was passed down to Philip’s eldest son, Charles following his death in April. However, the title has long been expected to be passed down to Edward. In 1999, Buckingham Palace announced to the world that Edward would succeed his father in the dukedom “in due course”. At the time, he had the blessing of the Queen and Prince Philip. Dylan Alcott has advanced to the final round of the quad wheelchair singles at the All England Club after defeating long-time rival David Wagner 6-2, 6-2. Alcott has qualified for his 16th grand slam final and will have the chance to defend his Wimbledon singles title against Dutchman Sam Schroder. Prince Charles' rumoured plans to slim down the monarchy when he becomes King has been said to exclude grandson Archie from ever becoming a prince. The move is said to have angered his son, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Prince Charles will reportedly have a smaller number of working royals performing official duties when he becomes King.
